Ever since Albert decided to make time to complete the "Reading Maniac" quest, his already busy life had become even busier. Besides finishing the homework assigned by his professors every day and taking the time to write to old friends, he also had to devote more time to reading books as thick as bricks. Reading ancient books on Dark Magic in particular could hardly be considered rest—it was a heavy burden.
Of course, reading more always had its benefits.
Albert had gained quite a lot as well. He had developed a certain understanding of Dark Magic and no longer regarded it with the same awe and distance as before.
During Albert's time reading in the Restricted Section, he had attracted Dumbledore's attention.
Whether it was because Dumbledore trusted him or for some other reason, Dumbledore merely watched from the shadows and did not come looking for him.
Albert actually hoped Dumbledore would come to see him. Then they could exchange insights on Dark Magic together.
If he took the initiative to seek out Dumbledore, the other man would probably find some excuse to brush him off.
As for Professor Dumbledore not understanding Dark Magic, that would undoubtedly be the greatest joke in the world.
Albert was certain that Dumbledore's understanding of Dark Magic was no inferior to Voldemort's. He simply did not wish to use it.
Knowledge and power were not wrong. Those at fault had always been the people who abused them.
Even with the Time-Turner, Albert had exhausted himself. In truth, he could have taken a holiday and lived the quiet, pleasant life he wanted.
There were many things that, once abandoned, would allow him to live quite happily.
As for Voldemort's threat, with the Fidelius Charm, he could simply hide away and live his own little life.
