The tiny human race's Guardian Formation was beneath their notice!
The leading demon arrogantly declared, "A mere broken formation, and you think it can block the Demon Race's path? Utter delusion!"
The humans clenched their fists, unable to contain their fury at the arrogant demons.
But alas, human strength was far too insignificant. Faced with the Demon Race, who held every advantage, they couldn't muster the slightest power to resist!
Suirenshi furrowed his brow and swallowed his pride to ask, "The human race bears no grudge against the Demon Race. Why must you be so relentless?"
Suirenshi wasn't without anger—he was simply helpless, left only to try reasoning with the demons.
Unfortunately, Suirenshi forgot that in the eyes of the Demon Race, humans were nothing but food. What need was there to reason with food?
The leading demon sneered coldly at Suirenshi's words. "Because your human race is born weak, destined from birth to be our Demon Race's prey!"
"Hand over a hundred thousand humans now to fill our bellies, and I'll spare your race today!"
Hearing this, the Three Ancestors' faces turned pale with rage.
Suirenshi trembled with fury, his brow deeply creased. "Impossible! Do you dare act so brazenly against my human race today, without fear of Empress Nuwa's wrath?"
With no other recourse, and certainly unwilling to hand over a hundred thousand humans to the demons, Suirenshi could only invoke Empress Nuwa's name, hoping to intimidate them.
But instead, the demons burst into raucous laughter at the mention of Nuwa.
"Hahaha, how utterly ridiculous! You're just food, and you expect Empress Nuwa to protect you?"
The leading demon sneered with utter contempt.
The other demons chimed in:
"That's right! Empress Nuwa is the Demon Emperor of our race—why would she protect you?"
"Let me tell you the truth: Empress Nuwa created you humans just to fill our bellies!"
"Got it? Then hurry up and offer us a hundred thousand humans as tribute. Maybe we'll let you live a little longer!"
With that, the demons burst into laughter again, utterly dismissive of the humans before them!
The humans were seething with indignation but found no words to refute the demons.
Suirenshi clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles went white, his eyes blazing with fury as he stared at the demons.
Ziyishi frowned, his voice simmering with anger. "Damn these demons! Let's fight them to the death!"
Youchaoshi, more cautious, quickly urged, "Don't act rashly! Do you want our human race to be annihilated by the Demon Race?"
Ziyishi fell silent—that was hardly his intention.
Seeing no response from the humans, the demons grew impatient. One of them barked irritably, "If you humans can't make a decision, then we'll just break through this formation, capture a million of you, and feast!"
At these words, Suirenshi and the others were stunned.
Panic rippled through the human crowd.
"Let me go. My cultivation is low, and my lifespan is short. Leave the chance to live for the children."
An elderly acquired human stepped forward, his expression calm.
With his lead, the humans began to steady themselves, shedding their earlier panic.
"I'll go! I'm lame—let the able-bodied keep their chance."
"Even a blind man like me is willing to trade myself for everyone's safety!"
"I may be a coward who fears death, but I'll still sacrifice myself for the human race!"
Chapter 10: The Human Race in Crisis, a Single Strike Slays a Demon
Seeing all his people so selflessly devoted, Suirenshi's eyes glistened with tears.
But as one of the Three Ancestors of humanity, how could he betray his kin for a moment's peace?
Moreover, Suirenshi knew that even if he handed over a hundred thousand clansmen today, the Demon Race would only find more excuses to hound them tomorrow!
Rather than grovel for mercy, it was better to fight to the death, with life and death in their own hands!
Thus, with unwavering resolve, Suirenshi declared calmly, "The human race may be born weak, but we stand tall and unyielding! Even in death, we will never betray our own!"
The demons burst into laughter at Suirenshi's words.
Without sufficient strength, that declaration was nothing but a joke to their ears.
Since the humans chose death, the Demon Race would gladly oblige!
The leader's laughter faded, and he looked down on the humans with contempt. Since they were so disobedient, he'd have to teach them a lesson.
"Attack!"
"Since you want to die together, I'll grant your wish!"
"The dignity of the Demon Race is not to be insulted!"
With the leader's command, the demons surged forward, mockery in their eyes.
In their view, mere humans were like weeds. Since they dared defy their orders, they would have to bear the brunt of their fury!
