Life on the Savage Ancient Plains was harsh. Poor mountains and wicked waters bred unruly people, and the barbarians living on this barren land were especially fierce and brave. Relying on their extraordinary strength, the two of them swaggered into Outpost County to scout the place out. Who knew whether they were truly contemptuous of everything or simply too stupid to know better.
Little Zack, son of the Bloody Hoof Tribe's chieftain, and Big Babylon, the Bloody Hoof Tribe's top enforcer, had stepped out of the Savage Ancient Plains and arrived in Outpost County for the first time—only to get lost in spectacular fashion. Perhaps even the Supreme God could not bear to watch. Afraid that the two idiots would starve to death in Outpost County and cause a tragedy, fate led them to stumble into their target by sheer coincidence: Dina.
Unfortunately, the ending was rather tragic. They did not share a heartfelt reunion with their fellow tribeswoman, and Dina felt no joy at meeting someone from home. Roasted meat was far more appealing than two fellow villagers.
As a result, Sakre and four Faith Guardian Knights represented Dina in a historic meeting between the two races and faced off against Big Babylon.
Then Big Babylon ended up curled on the ground, a black footprint stamped across his crotch.
Little Zack was clever. He did not resist at all.
Sakre's lackeys bound the two of them tightly with iron chains meant for guard dogs. Big Babylon in particular was tied up so thoroughly that only his eyes were exposed.
Yorkshire, the clerk of Outpost County, arrived with several peace officers just after the climactic battle had ended, like the police who always showed up late in Hong Kong movies.
Looking at the large and small barbarians, Yorkshire was deeply confused.
Allen pointed at the two dead and two injured Faith Guardian Knights and said irritably to Yorkshire, "Get someone to notify Wood."
"Why notify him?" Yorkshire failed to react at first.
"Damn it, tell him to come collect the bodies. Can't you see two of them are dead?"
Yorkshire's head swelled with a headache. He quietly gave the peace officers a few instructions before running over to Sakre to ask what had happened.
Sakre, full of pent-up anger, could not be bothered with him. He merely stared mournfully at the large front tooth in his hand, several strands of golden hair still hanging from his shoulder.
Logically, since the barbarians had killed two Faith Guardian Knights, Big Babylon, as the culprit, should have been handed over to Wood. But Allen did not do that. Instead, he escorted the two barbarians back to the Old Castle.
Big Babylon cursed nonstop along the way. If Dina had not been beside him suppressing his Barbarian Battle Ring, chains as thick as a thumb would have been utterly useless against him.
After returning to the Old Castle, the two barbarians received obviously different treatment.
The fierce-looking Big Babylon was watched closely by Dina, who never took her eyes off him. The two stayed within a meter of each other.
Little Zack, who looked harmless and seemed too stupid to know better, sat in the small garden and feasted heartily.
Not far away, Big Babylon kept swallowing his saliva.
Stone frogs roasted crisp on the outside and tender within, big-tongue fish stuffed with plump roe, a huge basin of malt syrup bread, and fragrant honey-date wine.
Little Zack was happy and miserable at the same time. He felt that once he finished this unforgettable feast, the smiling human before him would send him to the execution rack.
After all, humans were cunning and evil. They would never kindly give him so much delicious food.
Had it been a few days earlier, Little Zack might not have had such good fortune. As the owner of the Old Castle, Allen had only recently become wealthy enough to improve their meals.
It could not be helped. Sakre, their rich benefactor, was playing the good Samaritan, and after Dina became a Papal Candidate Saintess, Wood kept sending food and supplies every few days to curry favor with her.
The tax money Yorkshire had sent some time ago had originally been meant to entertain Xiulunte and his party. But Allen had completely fallen out with Xiulunte, so he simply pocketed it all.
After eating most of the food on the table, Little Zack rubbed his bulging belly and looked pitifully at Allen, who sat across from him.
Allen could not stand this sort of shameless cuteness. He asked helplessly, "Tell me, what exactly is Dina's relationship with you barbarians?"
Dina, beside him, pricked up her ears. No matter how carefree she was, she still cared deeply about her own origins.
Dina was afraid that the Second Young Master would hand her over to these two filthy barbarians.
Allen had also asked Dina about her background a few days ago.
Unfortunately, Dina herself did not remember very clearly. The fact that she was a Barbarian of the Wasteland was beyond doubt—after all, no ordinary family's daughter could grow this big. But she could not explain why she had ended up in the City of Locke as a maid in a duke's household.
After inheriting his memories, Allen only remembered that Dina had been brought home by his cheap father when he was around ten years old. Though she was nominally a maid, his cheap father and cheap mother had always treated Dina as their own daughter. Sometimes Allen had even been jealous of her. But the innocent and kind Dina had always regarded herself as a maid, though she was terribly unqualified for the job.
Now that he had captured two barbarians who might be connected to Dina, Allen naturally would not let this chance slip away.
Little Zack let out a satisfied burp and pointed slyly at the bound Big Babylon. "Ask him. I don't know anything. Anyway, I'm full now."
"Damn it, why didn't you say that before you ate?" Allen snapped and rapped Little Zack on the head.
On the way here, Little Zack had solemnly sworn that as long as his stomach was filled, he would answer every question without holding anything back.
Big Babylon, who had been swallowing saliva, instantly became smug. He shot Little Zack a grateful look and said proudly, "How old is Little Zack this year? When Miss Dina was sent away by the chieftain, he was not even old enough to remember anything."
Everyone present, including Allen, keenly caught several key words in Big Babylon's statement—Miss Dina, sent away by the chieftain.
Allen stood up and swept his gaze over everyone's faces. He said seriously, "There's nothing for you all to do here. Go wherever it's cool and get lost."
Sakre punched and kicked several lackeys away, then sat back down on the stone bench with a gossiping expression.
Allen glared at Sakre.
Sakre pretended not to notice.
"Either pay me back now or get lost immediately." After saying that, Allen folded his arms and stared at him.
Sakre instinctively touched his empty money pouch and left dejectedly.
Yorkshire also tactfully followed him out.
In the small garden, aside from Little Zack and the bound Big Babylon, only Dina, Allen, and Old Butler Leisi remained.
"Heh heh! Don't think I'm stupid." Big Babylon snorted and continued, "Untie me first. I want food too—the same things Little Zack just ate."
Allen walked up to Big Babylon with ill intent and pointed at the stable in the distance. "Do you know what that is?"
"A place for horses?" Big Babylon looked baffled.
"There's also a Shalu Beast in heat." Allen asked with an evil grin, "You're such a good fighter. You must be famous in the Wasteland, right?"
Big Babylon said smugly, "Of course. Among the hundred thousand barbarians of the Great Wilderness, who has not heard of the mighty Barbarian Bull Big Babylon?"
"Oh!" Allen nodded thoughtfully. "Then how about I strip you naked and throw you into the stable? Mr. Big Babylon, famous far and wide, can share a night of passion with a Shalu Beast in heat. Wouldn't that make your name resound throughout the Saint Cassis Continent?"
"What does sharing a night of passion mean?"
Allen explained with a smile, "It means a male Shalu Beast in heat will screw you. Understand?"
Seeing that the guy before him looked utterly wicked and did not seem to be joking at all, Big Babylon's face instantly fell.
The Old Butler looked horrified, while Dina's broad face turned bright red.
"Talk. What exactly is Dina's relationship with you?" Allen pointed at the stable again. "I don't have much patience, and I know the Barbarians of the Wasteland could not possibly have sent only two brainless idiots like you to recklessly snatch someone."
Big Babylon gave Dina a complicated look before muttering, "If you truly want what is best for Miss Dina, hand her over to me. I'll take her back to the Wasteland. Our tribe can guarantee her safety."
Little Zack, sitting on the stone bench, looked desolate and seemed to want to say something but stopped himself.
Allen did not answer. Instead, he gave Dina a grave look.
Dina was clearing the table. When she saw the Second Young Master looking at her, she gave Allen a foolishly innocent smile.
Old Butler Leisi walked over and removed the chains from Big Babylon. Facing Allen's puzzled expression, he said, "Don't worry. He's only a barbarian. I'm here."
Freed again, Big Babylon awkwardly walked to the stone table and used his hands to pick through the leftovers Little Zack had left behind. The pitiful sight made Dina feel sorry for him, and she hurried back into the Old Castle to fetch more food.
When the lavish food was brought out again, Big Babylon grabbed it with his hands and wolfed it down.
The impatient Allen paced back and forth nonstop, while Old Leisi kept reassuring him, "Don't worry. As long as I'm here, no one can take Nana away."
The food on the table was quickly almost gone. Allen noticed that Big Babylon ate with great care. By the end, tears had actually fallen from his huge, bell-like eyes.
With tears at the corners of his eyes, Big Babylon finished the last bite of food before looking at Dina and asking in a muffled voice, "Miss Dina, do you normally eat these things?"
Dina nodded, not understanding why he asked.
Big Babylon sighed before slowly telling them everything he knew.
