Xiulunte was ruthless—so ruthless that Allen felt the urge to kill for the first time since his rebirth.
On the Saint Cassis Continent, where battle was the dominant theme, clever humans had developed the path of martial force to unprecedented heights over thousands of years. There were more than a dozen professions devoted solely to war, not to mention those who had transcended the realm of ordinary people, such as Qi Warriors, mages, priests, summoners, and Puppet Masters.
Although Allen had not mastered Battle Aura or learned to cast magic, his body had been greatly strengthened after eating the dragon egg. Then, after being cursed by Chaos, he had gained Dragon Power.
Allen's own strength was already no weaker than that of a Third Tier Qi Warrior. He even stood a fair chance against a High Mage.
Logically, Xiulunte could have sent Qi Warriors or ascetics of equal or similar strength against him, but he had not done so.
He was using Allen's hands to eliminate the weaklings in the legion.
These weaklings made up the Earth Dragon Legion's most numerous infantry units. The archers and cavalry merely surrounded the Old Castle and did not join the battle.
That was why Allen felt murderous intent. It was also the first time he had hated someone so deeply, wishing he could kill him and be done with it. As he fought, he clearly noticed that nearly all these infantrymen were either gaunt and frail, green-faced youths, or white-haired old men.
Xiulunte's infantry differed significantly from his archers and cavalry. The former had trained for less time and had lower entry requirements, unlike the latter two branches, which demanded greater age and physical fitness.
Perhaps sensing the fury of her Second Young Master, Dina joined the battle with the Seven-Meter Dragon Spear on her shoulder.
In her eyes, there were only two kinds of people: those who bullied her and the Second Young Master, and those bullied by her and the Second Young Master.
Once Dina made her move, the two barbarians could not stand idly by.
Big Babylon grabbed a stone table from the backyard and charged into the fray.
Big Babylon had plenty of experience bullying weaklings like these. He specifically charged into tightly packed crowds, raised the stone table, and smashed around wildly without restraint.
As if afraid others would not know he was a Barbarian Chieftain, Old Zak instantly activated his Barbarian Battle Ring and roared, "Devious humans, accept the wrath of Old Zak, chieftain of the Bloody Hoof Tribe!"
Like a tiger descending the mountain, Old Zak, standing atop the Bloodhoof Battle Ring, held two legion infantrymen upside down in his hands and used them as clubs, swinging and smashing with terrifying ferocity.
Sakre did not move. He merely stood with several lackeys, protecting the Old Butler.
Old Laixi looked appreciatively at Allen, who was still fighting, and said, "Go help him. He has more and more reservations now."
"Those legion infantrymen can't hurt him." Sakre did not move.
Old Laixi shook his head. "Take your guards and help him. I don't want Allen's first step toward growth to be the slaughter of innocent, pitiful souls."
Sakre sighed. He really wanted to ask who exactly was Old Laixi's real grandnephew.
Watching Sakre join the battle, Old Laixi muttered to himself, "Still not as good as Allen. Fine. Whether you are a soul from another world or the Grand Duke's son, I'll help you one last time."
Old Laixi watched as Allen, who had initially slaughtered his way through the enemy, gradually seemed bound by invisible restraints. The Dragon Slaying Halberd in his hand no longer killed with every strike. As if he had concerns, he targeted only the lower body, disabling his enemies rather than taking their lives. Old Laixi sighed softly. "Still too kindhearted."
After saying that, the Old Butler heavily struck the ground with his cane. Light burst from it as layers of dark outer bark peeled away, finally revealing a strange magical artifact entwined with countless skull-shaped forms.
Just as Old Laixi was about to chant, he seemed to remember something and muttered, "Useless fool."
Turning toward Rockhammer and Magellan, who were locked in a stalemate, he casually waved his withered arm. A fist-sized skull shrieked as it flew toward Magellan.
The two burly men were both Third Tier Qi Warriors, and their strength was nearly equal. Magellan wielded an ordinary Knight Greatsword, which became capable of slicing through iron like mud when infused with Battle Aura.
Rockhammer's Martial Skills were not particularly refined. Perhaps his mind was never on fighting, since he spent every day thinking only about blacksmithing. Facing his opponent's greatsword barehanded, he was clearly at a disadvantage.
The Old Butler felt no psychological burden whatsoever about ambushing an infantry commander of the Papal Legion.
Magellan, who did not have eyes in the back of his head, was pierced through by the skull shrouded in black mist.
Magellan, the Third Tier Qi Warrior who had been exchanging blows with Rockhammer moments ago, rapidly lost all the skin on his body. Then his muscles swiftly aged and shriveled. In just a few seconds, the towering man had become a skeleton that collapsed onto the ground.
Rockhammer was truly frightened by the sight. He looked fearfully at the Old Butler, his lips muttering something unknown—though it was certainly nothing pleasant.
Old Laixi ignored him and looked at Allen again. His formerly lecherous face suddenly turned incomparably savage as he began chanting an incomprehensible spell.
After Dina, Sakre, and the two barbarians joined the battle, Allen's pressure lessened greatly. His eyes burning with fury, he said, "Clear a path for me. Today, I have to kill Xiulunte."
The people behind him silently nodded and protected Allen as they charged toward Xiulunte, who was heavily guarded.
Seeing Allen and the others break through the infantry line, Xiulunte nodded at the two ascetics.
The two ascetics, dressed like beggars, had crimson light flare in their eyes. Without chanting, they merely raised their hands, and two serrated circular blades formed from Fire Elements flew toward Allen.
"Two Fire Magi?" Old Laixi, who was chanting inside the Old Castle, frowned. Unfortunately, he had no one protecting him, and abruptly interrupting his chant could easily cause Magic Backlash. Especially with the spell he was currently summoning, he simply could not bear the consequences of its backlash.
Instant-cast magic! Allen was shocked. He had only just sensed Fire Elements gathering in the air when, in the next instant, two blazing serrated discs flew before him. He had not expected these unremarkable ascetics to be able to cast magic instantly.
Flame Sawtooth Blade, an advanced fire spell! Although fire magic possessed the greatest destructive power of all magical branches, Flame Sawtooth Blade was merely one of the most common attack methods used by High Mages. Its only outstanding feature was its extreme speed; its destructive power was relatively weak among fire spells of the same level.
But no one had expected the two ascetics to have reached the realm of Magi. They had cast advanced magic instantly, gathering Fire Elements one moment and condensing them into sawtooth blades to strike their target the next.
One Flame Sawtooth Blade was knocked aside by Sakre's sword and flew into the air, eventually reverting into scattered sparks of Fire Elements and vanishing.
The other Flame Sawtooth Blade, however, struck Allen's left arm because he had been caught off guard. Fortunately, it had flown in a straight line and had already pierced several legion infantrymen, greatly reducing its power.
But it was still an advanced fire spell. A charred wound nearly ten centimeters long appeared on Allen's left arm, looking utterly horrifying.
The Fire Element sawtooth blade possessed astonishing cutting power. Although it sliced through Allen's flesh, its concentrated heat instantly scorched the blood and wound on his upper arm, so no blood flowed out.
