Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Original Thanos–Darkseid fusion | 189 | Already one of Universe No. 9602’s most formidable gods. His arrival triggers natural disasters across Earth, and he gathers enough power to extinguish a star with a punch. |
| Xenomorph-enhanced fusion | 191 204 | Duva implants a larva that copies his biology and assimilates his genes. Its exceptional genetic enhancements later give him an advantage over the DCEU Darkseid. |
| Omega Rays unlocked; DCEU Darkseid absorbed | 204 | Adapting to DC strengthens his Sure-Hit Ray into Omega Rays. He defeats the DCEU Darkseid and extracts his godhood and Omega Effect. |
| Universe 3 Darkseid absorbed | 210 | Devours another Darkseid, bringing his accumulated mass to the equivalent of at least three Darkseids. Additional divine fragments strengthen his Omega Rays. |
| New 52 Darkseid’s godhood acquired | 223 | Duva bestows the preserved godhood upon him. His power rises sharply; he defeats Black Death Emperor and can absorb some higher-dimensional energy from The Bleed. |
| Eighteen-Infinity-Stone loadout; Multiverse-shaking combat power | 272 273 | Receives two six-Stone Infinity Gauntlets and an Infinity Sword containing six more Stones. The loadout surpasses his previous DC peak, but does not establish an unrestricted Multiversal Position. |
| Additional Darkseid avatar absorbed | 305 | Absorbs an avatar sent to confront Duva. His Infinity Stones remain unusable in the World Inside the Wall, with only the sword retaining limited effectiveness. |
| Multiverse level | 329 | Crosses the threshold after Duva supplies the Anti-Life and Anti-Death Equations. Uses Apokolips’s inhabitants, repeated resurrection, and the planet’s energy to contend with Darkseid’s true body. |
| Peak Multiverse level | 333 334 | Devours Darkseid’s true body and extracts the ruined Apokolips’s reserves. Completes most of his Darkseid godhood, but remains below Yuga Khan’s Ultra-Universe level. |
| Severely weakened Multiverse-level state | 338 | Origin Power continues dismantling his injured body. Away from Apokolips and DC’s native laws, he barely maintains Multiverse-level strength; the ongoing convergence gradually restores his powers. |
| Thanos half expanded; combined powers restored | 338 340 | Hunts alternate Thanoses and absorbs Prime Universe Thanos after Duva parasitizes him. Gains the Cosmic Egg; entering the Convergence Zone restores his DC powers and allows Infinity artifacts to function. |
| Ultra-Universe level | 341 | Yuga Khan confirms his advancement. Combines Thanos’s artifact mastery, Darkseid’s powers, the Cosmic Egg, Infinity artifacts, and Apokolips’s energy to withstand their rematch. |
| Omniverse level | 419 | Completely devours the final Thanos and inherits the special power obtained through the Reality Controller. His advancement also causes a major surge in Duva’s power. |
Background / History
Origin and Subjugation
Thanoseid originates in Universe No. 9602 as a fusion of Thanos and Darkseid and rules its Apokolips. Bored with repeating the same activities over millions of years, he welcomes Duva’s arrival as an opportunity for an unprecedented battle. He intends to kill the outsider, seize his universe-crossing technology, and capture Super Soldier to investigate why Duva values him 189.
The Mephisto Xenomorph overwhelms him before Duva personally intervenes. Duva imposes his conceptual power on Thanoseid, producing a larva inside his body that copies his biology and begins taking control. Thanoseid repeatedly floods himself with energy to destroy it, but cannot find a weakness through Duva’s protection. His defeat unsettles Apokolips’s inhabitants, who begin considering surrender or resistance to their ruler’s captor 191.
His two original components have different forms of existence: alternate Thanoses are independent individuals, whereas Darkseid’s avatars contain fragments of a divine essence connected through the Omega Effect. This makes hunting Darkseids a means of assembling and strengthening Thanoseid’s Darkseid half 191.
Hunting Darkseid’s Avatars
Duva releases Thanoseid against the DCEU Darkseid. After defeating and absorbing him, Thanoseid accepts Steppenwolf’s submission and receives permission to conquer parallel universes. He treats the campaign as a route toward completing himself and eventually overthrowing Duva 203 204 205 207.
Thanoseid massacres Paradise Island’s defenders and takes its Mother Box while sending Steppenwolf and the Xenomorphs against Atlantis. Using the gathered Mother Boxes and Steppenwolf’s coordinates, he opens a Boom Tube to Earth 3. He kills Ares’s avatar during the preparations, then confronts the Crime Syndicate and absorbs Universe 3’s Darkseid 207 208 210.
The Anti-Monitor’s arrival gives him hope of obtaining the Anti-Life Equation and escaping enslavement. Duva instead seizes his body and uses it to fight the Anti-Monitor, destroying Apokolips during their clash. Later, Thanoseid’s attempted rebellion fails because his Omega Effect cannot eliminate Duva’s concept after it has spread across the Multiverse 211 212 228.
Service Across Marvel and DC
Thanoseid continues hunting Darkseid’s godhood, attacking the Hell Armor when he discovers Prime Universe Darkseid’s power within it. The Spectre’s Judgment Power proves ineffective against him, and he blasts the Spectre-possessed Batman toward the edge of the universe with an Omega Ray 253 254 260.
In Marvel, he devastates the Cancer Universe’s corrupted Avengers before Duva summons him to fight Eye Tyrant. His eighteen-Infinity-Stone loadout compensates for the weakened Omega Effect and lets him unleash Multiverse-shaking power. On returning to DC, however, he finds the Infinity Stones useless outside their applicable laws 272 273 305.
Replacing Darkseid
Once further avatar consumption can no longer produce a qualitative improvement, Duva sends Thanoseid to challenge Darkseid’s true body in the Realm of the Gods. Apokolips recognizes the contest as a succession struggle: its overlord’s position belongs to the winner, regardless of Thanoseid’s allegiance to Duva 328 329.
Initially outmatched, Thanoseid turns the battle through the Anti-Life and Anti-Death Equations. He repeatedly kills and resurrects Apokolips’s inhabitants to fuel his growth, eventually defeating and torturing Darkseid. Yuga Khan’s return prompts him to finish the absorption and claim the planet’s remaining reserves 329 330 333.
Yuga Khan and the Thanos Hunt
Yuga Khan defeats him despite his completed Darkseid half, two Equations, and Apokolips’s energy. Thanoseid eventually acknowledges that he cannot win under those conditions. Duva directs him to develop his neglected Thanos half, and Yuga Khan spares him to see what he can become 334 335 336 338.
Returning to Marvel with persistent Origin Power injuries, Thanoseid systematically devours alternate Thanoses. Death intervenes to protect her followers, while Prime Universe Thanos confronts him using a Cosmic Egg assembled from dozens of Cosmic Cubes. Duva parasitizes Prime Universe Thanos, enabling Thanoseid to absorb him and acquire the Egg 338 339 340.
The strengthened Thanoseid returns to Yuga Khan with an extensive artifact loadout and Ultra-Universe-level power. Their rematch damages realms throughout the Realm of the Gods; the Infinity Sword begins cracking under the strain. Thanoseid later gains the advantage rather than remaining an opponent Yuga Khan can suppress at will 341 343 344.
Hand of Void and Final Thanos
Thanoseid forces Eye Tyrant to assist in provoking the Hand of Void, acting on fragmentary information supplied by Duva. Its descent disrupts the balance between light and darkness across both worlds. Duva orders Thanoseid to flee as Michael and Lucifer move to confront it 415.
He subsequently challenges Thanos 666, who has acquired the Reality Controller’s power and devoured Mandrakk and Barbatos. Each seeks to consume the other. Thanoseid ultimately finishes devouring this final Thanos, inherits his special power, and reaches Omniverse level 417 419.
Appearance
- Massive physique: His large hands and physical strength allow him to seize opponents by the head and overwhelm them at close range 204 329.
- Darkseid-like bearing: Frequently stands or walks with his hands behind his back, including during battle 189 207 272.
- Red eye emissions: Fires twisting Omega Rays from his eyes; Darkseid recognizes both the Omega Effect and his own divine fragments within him 204 207.
- Altered body and attire: The DCEU Darkseid initially considers him a corrupted avatar whose body and fashion have been changed 204.
Personality
Thanoseid is intensely proud, power-hungry, and hostile to being treated as merely another Darkseid. He insists upon his own identity while regarding defeated counterparts as material that should become part of him. Hunting them becomes an addiction, driven by both the pleasure of growth and the hope of escaping Duva 204 205 207.
His fusion produces cruelty exceeding that of either original component. He delights in slaughtering Apokolips’s population for energy and prolongs Darkseid’s suffering after victory. Duva’s restraints had previously suppressed the full expression of this brutality 329 333.
Humiliation repeatedly changes his behavior without removing his ambition. After his failed rebellion, he adjusts his attitude toward Duva; after Yuga Khan’s beating, his outward frenzy gives way to cold, controlled determination. He comes to value power integrated into his own body over strength dependent on external worlds or supplies 272 338.
Abilities & Skills
Omega Effect and Omega Rays
Thanoseid’s original Sure-Hit Ray evolves into Omega Rays after he adapts to DC. Absorbing Darkseid’s divine fragments increases the amount of Omega Effect he can wield 204 210.
- Rays bend and change direction while pursuing their targets 207.
- Their destructive power can corrode space and time 210.
- Observers identify guaranteed hits, analysis, corrosion, and mind-control effects in his battle energy 272.
- The Omega Effect weakens substantially in Marvel before the two worlds’ laws begin converging 264 273 338.
Absorption and Assimilation
Thanoseid strengthens himself by consuming alternate Darkseids and Thanoses, incorporating their godhood, power, memories, and abilities 204 239 338 340.
- Darkseid absorption assembles fragments of the same divine essence 191 210.
- Inherited memories give him knowledge of Darkseid’s history and relationships 239 333.
- He can locate, defeat, and consume ordinary alternate Thanoses in less than a second 338.
- Avatar consumption eventually reaches a ceiling; Darkseid’s true body holds more divine essence than all the lesser fragments combined 328.
- Consuming the final Thanos grants him the special power associated with the Reality Controller 419.
Xenomorph Enhancement and Duva’s Power
The larva implanted by Duva copies Thanoseid’s biology, assimilates his genes, and enhances his bloodline 191 204 334.
- Supplies abilities absent from an ordinary Darkseid avatar 204.
- Allows him to wield Duva’s power when traversing the Realm of the Gods 329.
- Enables forced transfer of other Xenomorph-linked beings, including The One and Ares 415.
- Leaves him vulnerable to Duva directly seizing his body and suppressing his resistance 211 212.
Anti-Life and Anti-Death Equations
Duva supplies both Equations during the battle against Darkseid’s true body. The Anti-Life Equation transforms through interaction with the Omega Effect, while the Anti-Death Equation originates from Great Darkness’s faction 329.
- Converts deaths and suffering among Apokolips’s inhabitants into power 329.
- Resurrects victims so they can be killed repeatedly to sustain further growth 329 330.
- Helps replenish his strength during combat 334.
- Operates poorly under Marvel’s laws until convergence restores greater compatibility 339 340.
Divine Artifact Mastery
Thanoseid’s Thanos component lets him adapt to and control multiple supernatural power sources simultaneously 341.
- Wields eighteen Infinity Stones through two Gauntlets and the Infinity Sword 272.
- Channels Infinity laws through the sword while drawing additional energy from the Cosmic Egg and Apokolips 341.
- Retrieves Infinity Stones directly from a future timeline 340.
- Infinity artifacts remain geographically and cosmologically restricted; he estimates they could retain less than one-tenth of their power in the Realm of the Gods 305 340.
Physical Power, Recovery, and Energy Absorption
Even before his major advancements, Thanoseid can gather star-extinguishing force. Later, he absorbs higher-dimensional energy and uses Apokolips as a vast source of replenishment 189 223 329.
- Absorbs some energy from The Bleed 223.
- Forcibly pieces the ruined Apokolips together before extracting its reserves 333.
- Heals severe injuries, though Yuga Khan’s lingering Origin Power continually undermines that recovery 338.
- Loses part of his energy supply when separated from Apokolips 329 338.
Resistance to Judgment
The Spectre’s Judgment Power cannot effectively punish Thanoseid. The passage connects this resistance to his Thanos component’s treatment of slaughter as justified, alongside his occupation of Darkseid’s role and possession of Duva’s power 260.
