Background / History
Ron is Victor Golden Sunflower's maternal uncle and the youngest son of Viscount Roy Edelweiss. He formerly held a knightly position and military authority in Edelweiss Territory. When Viscount Roy transferred his title to Ron's elder brother, Soros, Ron was sent to Golden Sunflower Territory to avoid future friction within the Edelweiss family and earn merit under Baron Wembley. 9
He had fought Barbarians and rival nobles on the northern frontier since his teenage years. Though regarded as unsuited to lordship, Ron developed into a battle-hardened commander with sharp battlefield instincts and extensive experience in small-scale warfare. 9
Before Victor's northern expedition, Ron managed the Golden Sunflower Territory garrison and helped train troops. Victor later tasked him with creating a training program capable of turning recruited serfs into battlefield soldiers. 9 10
Appearance
Ron is an exceptionally large, heavily built man whose physique makes ordinary mounts unsuitable.
- Stands approximately 2.2 meters tall and weighs about 210 kilograms. 9
- Has muscles “layered with fat,” giving him the build and strength of a giant. 9
- Can throw an ordinary warhorse. 9
- Is over two meters tall when fully armed and is notably intimidating in close combat. 263
- Uses a rare, oversized Wind Howler Horse variant named Black Panther, acquired specifically to serve as his mount. 21
Personality
Ron is direct, emotional, and fond of physical solutions. In private, he can be lazy, unreliable, and overly enthusiastic about alcohol; in public, his noble upbringing allows him to maintain proper military and aristocratic decorum. 253 470
He is deeply invested in his soldiers’ readiness and prospects for merit. This loyalty can make him impulsive: when he learns that cavalry horses are being reassigned, he confronts Victor before fully reading the relevant orders, then feels ashamed for mistrusting his officers and commander. 471 472
Despite his rough demeanor, Ron can adapt tactically, negotiate when necessary, and apply practical military knowledge gained from frontier warfare. 9 276 309
Abilities & Skills
Cavalry Command
Ron specializes in leading cavalry, particularly rapid-response and heavy-cavalry formations.
- Led reconnaissance, screening, pursuit, and harassment operations across the northern grasslands. 20 46 132
- Commanded the First Cavalry Detachment, a fully staffed rapid-response unit with more than 140 cavalry and spare horses during the Iron Bone Tribe pursuit. 132
- Split and coordinated forces with Jackson to rout Iron Bone Tribe cavalry and capture enemy centurions. 135
- Adapted during cavalry harassment by exploiting inferior enemy horse stamina and riding ability, killing nearly 100 opposing riders. 276
- Was entrusted to lead heavy cavalry when Victor required a decisive charge. 276
Close-Quarters Combat
Ron is a formidable shock fighter who can fight effectively both mounted and on foot.
- Uses a lance for mounted impact attacks, capable of sweeping multiple riders from their horses. 133
- Continued fighting after his lance broke, dismounting and engaging surrounding cavalry with twin swords. 133
- Killed an Iron Bone Tribe officer by leaping into range and striking him down with his remaining sword. 133
- Captured Red Ginseng Castle by personally leading the infiltration through its side gate and rapidly overwhelming its guards. 263
- His enormous strength lets him disarm, throw, and overpower opponents in wrestling practice. 273
Archery
Ron uses a custom heavy bow designed for his exceptional arm strength.
- His arrows can pierce a barbarian cavalryman’s bronze armor through the chest. 135
- The bowstring is made from iron vine, a material normally used for ballista bowstrings. 135
- Pursued and personally killed 15 Iron Bone Tribe cavalrymen during the detachment’s cleanup operation. 135
Barbarian Language and Frontier Knowledge
Ron is familiar with the northern grasslands and knows Barbarian languages.
- Volunteered to screen and monitor Barbarian cavalry because of this knowledge. 20
- Used Barbarian insults to provoke enemy warriors into repeated duels and draw their force into an ill-timed attack. 21 22
- Oversaw separate interrogations of captured Barbarian warriors to verify intelligence and prevent collusion. 47
Military Training and Organization
Ron has experience training both regular troops and militia.
- Helped train soldiers alongside Victor before the northern expedition. 21
- Was assigned to develop serf training programs for Golden Sunflower Territory’s expanding army. 10
- Established the First Regiment, initially organized around three understrength detachments totaling roughly 1,200 men. 191
- Served as a cavalry instructor in Great Oak Territory, training a cavalry regiment to operational readiness. 451
- Negotiated with Steward Boon over militia standards, ultimately agreeing to one high-standard battalion and four lower-standard battalions. 309
