Mingren used Dark Chakra to pursue power, protect people in the Land of Rain, and resist the great villages’ control. After Hanzo entrusted Amegakure to him and Asuka was captured, Mingren retaliated against Kirigakure and ended the stretch charging at Suikazan Fuguki.

Arc 1The Underground Exchange

Mingren used Dark Chakra to grow stronger as he fought Konoha ninja and pursued his goal of driving invaders from the Land of Rain. After Shennong announced an auction for the captured corpses, Minato and Hanzo raced toward the Underground Exchange, where the auction began.

  • Mingren emerged from Shennong’s successful experiment, gained strength through Dark Chakra, and killed several Konoha ninja who had cornered Asuka.
  • Mingren refused invitations to join Amegakure or the Akatsuki and told Yahiko that he would use strength to overthrow Bloodline Theory and drive out invaders.
  • Mingren fought Hokuto Hyuga, Shinya Senju, and Gekko Clan, killing Hokuto and raising his Strength to 9.
  • Asuka reported Mingren’s strength to Hanzo, who ordered an investigation into Shennong and Mingren while Konoha’s Danzo sought the missing corpses.

Arc 2Mingren’s Rain Campaign

Mingren slaughtered criminals and corrupt figures across the Land of Rain, drawing the attention of Akatsuki and several shinobi villages. He joined forces with Asuka and Shennong, declared his ambition to unite the small nations, and arrived in Amegakure as Hanzo formed an alliance with Konoha.

  • At the Underground Exchange, Mingren killed the auctioneer and slaughtered the patrons after witnessing the sale of a refugee girl, while Shennong helped Asuka and her subordinates escape the darkened hall.
  • Mingren killed Shido Akimichi, Kaede Yamanaka, and other attendees, then continued hunting criminals across the Land of Rain as Minato Namikaze and Hanzo investigated the massacre.
  • Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan confronted Mingren over his killings, but he argued that he was protecting innocents and refused to join Akatsuki.
  • Pakura, Kitsuchi, Minato, Orochimaru, and Akatsuki became embroiled in a battle, and Mingren killed shinobi from Iwagakure and Sunagakure after their fighting endangered ordinary people.
  • Hanzo invited Mingren to join Amegakure, and Mingren defeated Hanzo’s Water Clone before declaring that he intended to rule the Land of Rain, unite small nations, and overthrow the old order.

Arc 3The Forest of Death

Mingren pursued Hozuki Mangetsu into Konoha’s Chunin Exam and killed him, then returned to Amegakure as the great villages moved against it. After Hanzo’s peace negotiations ended in an ambush, Hanzo entrusted Amegakure to Mingren, who vowed not to compromise and demanded Asuka’s safety.

  • Mingren identified Hozuki Mangetsu as the killer of Amegakure’s missing ninja and raced to Konoha, where he entered the Chunin Exam under the guise of a refugee.
  • Mingren hunted examinees in the Forest of Death, sparing Asuka’s team and some minor-village and Kumogakure ninja while targeting the great villages.
  • Mingren reached the Central Tower, defeated Hozuki Mangetsu by swallowing and digesting him, then killed two of Mangetsu’s Kirigakure teammates and took Hiramekarei.
  • Konoha and Sunagakure agreed to attack Amegakure, while Iwagakure and Kirigakure also pressured the village, and Mingren fought invaders as Hanzo urged Amegakure to resist.
  • Mingren told Hanzo that he had sold Hiramekarei to fund weapons and power he hoped to make available to everyone, and Hanzo renewed his resolve to fight.
  • Hanzo sent Guren to arrange peace talks with Yahiko, but Hiruzen and Rasa arrived with their forces and attacked, killing Yahiko, badly wounding Hanzo, and capturing Asuka.
  • Shennong and Yamada told Mingren that Amegakure had suffered heavy losses and that some villagers were considering surrender, after Hanzo asked to see him, Mingren heard Hanzo entrust the village to him and vowed retaliation if Asuka died.

Arc 4Betrayals and Dark Chakra

Mingren killed his way toward greater strength while Konoha seized control of Amegakure and Sunagakure betrayed Pakura. The arc ended with Mingren fighting Suikazan Fuguki after slaughtering most of the Kirigakure force sent to kill Pakura.

  • Mingren killed Uchiha Kiyomi and the Konoha and Sunagakure ninja at the stronghold, then learned from Guren that Konoha had taken Asuka.
  • Uchiha Ryūka awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan, led an attack on Amegakure, and declared Asuka its leader under Konoha’s control.
  • Mingren fought Pakura, marked her with Dark Chakra, and learned she was returning to Sunagakure, while Guren and Shennong joined his plans to grow stronger.
  • Rasa and Sunagakure’s elders traded Pakura to Kirigakure for a temporary truce, while Asuka resisted Uchiha Ryūka’s demand that Amegakure become a vassal.
  • Suikazan Fuguki and Raiga Kurosuki ambushed Pakura in the Land of Water and revealed that Rasa had given her up.
  • Mingren arrived and killed numerous Kirigakure ninja, including Raiga Kurosuki, absorbing his Negative Mental Energy and raising his strength to 16.
  • Mingren killed more than forty Bloody Mist ninja, spared Suiren to carry a warning to the Mizukage, and charged back at Suikazan Fuguki as the valley walls crumbled.
