Zhou Ming looked at Nuwa's wary, distant expression and spoke calmly.
"It's very simple. Someone wants to use your hand, Fellow Daoist, to open the prelude to the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation."
As soon as he said this, the Wa Huang Palace fell utterly silent. Even the air seemed to freeze.
Nuwa first froze, then instinctively retorted.
"Impossible!"
A trace of disbelief showed in her phoenix eyes.
"I made up my mind long ago to keep the palace gates shut, avoid Karma, ignore worldly affairs, and not interfere with this Tribulation in the slightest."
"Do they dare force me?"
But at this point, Nuwa's voice abruptly stopped.
A glimmer of understanding flashed through her Creation-seeing phoenix eyes.
As a Sage, she instantly understood the deeper meaning behind Zhou Ming's words.
How could Sages use such a lowly method as 'force'?
But what if it was... a scheme?
What if they made her unwittingly and 'willingly' jump into the pit they had dug for her?
An unnamed fire quietly rose from the depths of her heart.
Did those fellows truly think that because she was alone, they could toy with her as they pleased?
"How are they going to scheme against me?"
Confusion filled Nuwa's voice.
"I'm alone now, burdened by no sect and troubled by no disciples. You could say I have no connection whatsoever with the mortal world of the Primordial Wilderness."
This was what Nuwa truly couldn't understand.
She was now a standard solitary immortal, completely alone. Unlike the Three Pure Ones, she had no dispute over a lineage; unlike the Two Sages of the West, she had no grand mission to accomplish.
She was free of all ties, without even disciples or descendants who could be threatened.
Moreover, she had voluntarily sealed off her Daoist temple.
