Nuwa initially dislikes conflict and is reluctant to involve herself in the struggle between the Witch and Demon Clans. Nevertheless, she recognizes when the changing circumstances of the Primordial World make neutrality impossible, and she is willing to accept risk for opportunity or for those she wishes to protect. 26

She is persistent in pursuit of the Saintly path. When unable to comprehend Hongmeng Purple Qi alone, she seeks the Three Pure Ones’ insight, then proposes expanding their joint effort to include Jieyin and Zhunti despite the others’ disdain for them. 46 47

Her strongest attachment is to her family and the Human Race. She personally asks Wu Ming to spare Fuxi during the Witch-Demon War, later defies both the Heavenly Dao’s course and the Sanqing to stop the Demon Clan’s slaughter of humans. 64 65 213

Di Jun and Taiyi visit Phoenix Nest Mountain to recruit Nuwa and Fuxi into their proposed Demon Race. Though Nuwa dislikes conflict and recognizes that the alliance will place them against the Witch Clan, she accepts because the Primordial World’s rising tide leaves neither sibling able to remain apart from the coming chaos. She is named Empress Nuwa, equal in status to the Demon Emperors. 26

After obtaining Hongmeng Purple Qi, Nuwa distances herself from the Heavenly Court and returns to Phoenix Nest Mountain. Despite Di Jun and Taiyi’s outward courtesy, she fears that the prospect of a Saint position could lead them to scheme against her. 40

Search for the Saintly Path

After receiving Hongmeng Purple Qi, Nuwa struggles unsuccessfully to comprehend it. She visits the Three Pure Ones, proposes their joint study, and then persuades them to include Jieyin and Zhunti. The six still fail to uncover its secret, prompting Nuwa to seek other routes to sainthood. 46 47 48

Her disclosure of the Great Formation of the Stars subsequently becomes a source of guilt. She warns Fuxi against joining the coming Witch-Demon War, believing that Wu Ming’s reaction indicates the Witch Clan has a countermeasure. Creation of the Human Race and Ascension

During her journey through the Primordial World, Nuwa comprehends the Dao of Creation and realizes that creating a new race is her opportunity to become a Saint. After obtaining Three Lights Divine Water and negotiating for the Creation Cauldron and Nine Heavens Breath Soil, she creates 129,601 humans on the East Sea shore. 89 96 98

Zhou Ming makes the creation of an extra human a condition of their transaction. Nuwa initially refuses because she fears punishment for defying the Heavenly Dao, but ultimately prepares the additional clay figure secretly. Zhou Ming draws the Heavenly Dao’s attention through his own Dao Proving, while the Twelve Ancestor Witches guard Nuwa and Houtu assists in bringing the final human to life. 91 96 98

The resulting Golden Light of Merit lets Nuwa sever her Corpse of Self-Obsession and awaken her Hongmeng Purple Qi, making her a Saint. She immediately declares the Human Race to be under her protection and establishes Wa Huang Palace. 99 100

She announces that she will preach the Great Dao alongside Zhou Ming after a thousand years. When that interval passes, powerful beings travel into Chaos to attend the preaching at Wa Huang Palace. 100 107

Zhou Ming confronts her with her failure to teach humanity cultivation methods or the means to survive in the Primordial World. When the Demon Clan begins slaughtering humans, Nuwa refuses to accept the Heavenly Dao’s intended course. She battles the Sanqing, who attempt to prevent her intervention, while publicly declaring their role in enabling the massacre. 212 213

Fuxi’s Recovery and Reincarnation

After Fuxi dies, Nuwa attacks the surviving Immortal Court cultivators in anger. Zhou Ming stops her and reveals that he saved Fuxi’s Primordial Spirit, persuading her to spare them. She subsequently nurtures the spirit within Wa Huang Palace until it is healthy enough to reincarnate. 229 268

Nuwa visits Pangu Hall to arrange Fuxi’s rebirth. She initially sees consultation with the Human Race as unnecessary, but accepts Zhou Ming’s insistence that humanity must be respected rather than treated merely as a tool for the Saints’ Destiny/Fortune. She then summons the Saints to discuss the teachers of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors and requests Zhou Ming as Fuxi’s teacher. 268 270

With Zhou Ming accompanying her, Nuwa brings Fuxi’s spirit to the Underworld, where Pingxin sends it into Human Dao reincarnation. Nuwa expresses her gratitude to both and returns to Wa Huang Palace to monitor his rebirth. She later arrives early at the Feng Yan Tribe to await his birth. 272 275

At the completion of Fuxi’s merits, Nuwa comes to the Chen capital expecting to welcome her brother back. Although he recovers his memories, Fuxi identifies himself as Human Fuxi and commits to the Human Race rather than resuming his former identity, leaving Nuwa distressed. Sealing the Demon Realm

Nuwa uses Five-Colored Divine Stones to close the major gap leading to the Demon Realm. Before the seal is completed, she deliberately removes a stone, leaving a narrow opening that permits demonic energy to seep into the West without allowing Demon Realm beings to cross. Jieyin and Zhunti protest but cannot prevent her action. 235 236

The Heavenly Dao rewards the sealing with merit, of which Nuwa receives approximately seventy percent. She has two stones remaining: the removed stone and a spare she had prepared. At Zhou Ming’s request, she gives both to him; he subsequently uses them in arrangements involving the future Spiritual Stone Monkey. 236

Calamity and the Investiture of the Gods

Nuwa avoids involvement in the Mystic Gate’s Calamity whenever possible, even severing her connection to Lingzhuzi after Yuanshi obtains the treasure through a karmic debt. 371 372

During the scheme against Di Xin and the Great Shang, she outwardly displays rage while covertly following a plan that allows her to repay debts to Zhou Ming. She signals Zhou’s mandate through Jin Feng and dispatches the Xuanyuan Tomb’s three demons to infiltrate Chaoge. 453 454 456

The three demons fear Chaoge’s Human Dao destiny formation, so Nuwa purifies their demonic energy and provides protective means. She also supplies the Nine-tailed Fox with a jade talisman for possessing Su Daji without harming her. Privately, Nuwa doubts that Di Xin can easily be swayed by beauty and suspects that Huoyun Cave may support him, but proceeds because he is opposed to Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti. 456

Despite her earlier neutrality, Nuwa later joins Tongtian and Wu at Sishui Pass against the alliance of Taiqing, Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti. 521

After the Calamity, Nuwa holds Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti accountable for their manipulation of the Human Emperor and demands half of Western Prosperity’s future merit. During the negotiations, she refuses to be moved by Zhunti’s pleas and further injures him through the Creation Cauldron’s might. Her demand is not merely immediate retaliation; she intends to accumulate merit for a future break with the Heavenly Dao. 551 552

Nuwa subsequently joins Taiqing and Yuanshi in planning to sever their Saint positions and break away from the Heavenly Dao. She remains content to wait for the proper opportunity presented by Western Prosperity, later observing Taiqing’s failed attempt to divide Buddhism and Duobao’s ascension as Buddha. 575 586
