Background / History

Nuwa is the daughter of Human Emperor Shennong. While Shennong is occupied by his duties, she frequently visits Houtu, who becomes deeply protective of her. Houtu discovers that a mark Zhou Ming originally left on Shennong has transferred to Nuwa, indicating that she is fated to face a potentially fatal tribulation. 279

After learning that Shennong has returned to Chen Capital, Nuwa tries to find him but is disappointed to learn that he has already departed. Ao Guang invites her to visit the East Sea instead, partly to entertain her and partly to build goodwill with Shennong and the Human Race. 280

At the East Sea Dragon Palace, Dragon Prince Ao Bing is assigned to accompany her. Nuwa's desire to explore the sea surface leads them onto a boat, which is overturned by a sudden wave; she falls into the sea and disappears. Houtu and Zhou Ming's protective measures save her, and their subsequent search finds no evidence that a Saint or the Heavenly Dao caused the incident. Zhou Ming concludes that it was a destined tribulation and leaves his mark on her until Shennong completes his Merit. 282 283

After Ao Guang and Ao Bing find her safe, they apologize to Houtu for their negligence. Zhou Ming declares that Nuwa will henceforth be called Jingwei, as her original name is one she cannot bear. At Zhou Ming's suggestion, Houtu agrees to accept Jingwei as her disciple once Shennong's Merit is complete and brings her back to Chen Du. 283

Nuwa is innocent, carefree, and driven by curiosity. She is eager to explore both the East Sea's underwater world and its surface. 279 282

Her father's prolonged absences leave her feeling neglected and resentful, though this stems from Shennong's demanding responsibilities as Human Emperor. 279 280

She remains kind-hearted toward Ao Bing despite her near-fatal accident, thanking him for accompanying her and inviting him to visit her in Chen Du. 283
