Mr. Spy Andre
When Andre Watson regained consciousness, he noticed a tiny figure standing beside him with his hands behind his back, staring at him.
The child was leaning on a cane in a very serious manner, with a very solemn face, and looked quite convincing.
"Ah..."
Detective Watson's voice was hoarse as he finally managed to recover.
But he was still trembling all over, and it took him a while to regain his ability to speak.
The chill still seeped into his body, and fear lingered in Watson's eyes. "What's going on... why is the Wild Hunt here?"
"You were probably just unlucky to run into this."
The child asked indifferently, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh..."
Watson struggled to sit up. Hai Na kindly helped him—but then he saw the Hai Na's, and his movements faltered for a moment.
In an instant, little Sherlock narrowed his eyes.
"Thank you, sir... Inspector?"
Watson asked tentatively.
Hai Na shook her head. "I'm not an inspector yet. You can call me Miss Hai Na for now—this is Arthur Conan Doyle."
"Hello, kind lady and gentleman. Thank you so much for saving me."
Watson's face turned pale and his lips turned white.
But Hai Na noticed that his recovery was quite fast... After he regained consciousness, he spoke fluently in just a few breaths, and his complexion and mental state improved at a visible speed. "My name is Andre Watson, and I am a detective."
"Oh, hello, Watson ..."
Before Hai Na could finish speaking, Sherlock suddenly raised his voice to interrupt her, "—So, Detective Watson," he called out, "What brings you all this way to such a remote little town?"
Watson hesitated for a moment before realizing that the person leading the conversation was actually this child.
Perhaps he wasn't a child at all.
... Perhaps he is a dwarf? This strange thought suddenly popped into Watson's mind, and he subconsciously began to think quickly.
—That girl named Hai Na, being able to obtain a young pureblood griffin means she's at least on the verge of reaching the Fourth Level. She only said she wasn't an inspector yet, but didn't explain that she wasn't from the Bureau of Supervision ... and her posture looked quite casual, which suggests she probably doesn't come from the military system.
If one doesn't come from the military system, reaching the Fourth Level will lead to entry into the Arbitration Hall. At that point, one can be considered Avalon's top combat force and talent pool, receiving armor from the Queen, becoming a knight, and entering the Round Table Hall.
Without a doubt, that is the pinnacle of power that ordinary people can reach.
But she had great respect for that child.
Watson was absolutely certain; the emotion she felt was respect, even a touch of fear. She immediately stopped speaking when the "child" began to speak, even glancing tentatively at him for his opinion.
This undoubtedly demonstrates that this "child" holds an extremely high status.
The only children who could command such respect and fear from a knight are probably royalty. But there is no doubt that Avalon currently has no male royal members of that age.
Then there's only one explanation.
This person, who looks like a child, has the mind of an adult. He's a dwarf! And most likely a minister or a secret administrator of some organization! "—Stop overthinking, Detective Watson. Please answer my question."
The child impatiently raised his cane and poked him in the stomach, not too hard, not too soft. It felt like being poked by an iron rod by a child who didn't know his own strength; he winced in pain. But it also instantly snapped him out of his thoughts and fantasies.
"Yes, Mr. Doyle..."
He responded instinctively.
But as soon as he uttered those words, he saw Mr. Doyle raise an eyebrow. Watson immediately realized he had made a mistake again and regretted it instantly.
He could only force himself to stay calm and pretend he hadn't seen anything. "I'm here to find Detective Sherlock Holmes."
"...Um?"
Hai Na paused for a moment, then glanced at Sherlock instinctively.
Watson immediately noticed this subtle expression.
His heart immediately tightened.
Why was she looking at the dwarf? Was he involved in Sherlock's disappearance? Did he do it? Or was Sherlock connected to him?
Or perhaps... he is Sherlock? After this thought popped into his mind, Watson immediately had a new association: Yes, if Sherlock had turned into a child through the ritual, he would indeed suddenly disappear.
That explains why the arbitrator remained respectful towards him. Furthermore, his own blatant disdain mixed with a sense of relief vaguely resembled Sherlock ...
"I am Mr. Hermes ' apprentice."
Little Sherlock poked Detective Watson with his cane and said bluntly, "What do you want with him?"
"He has disappeared... some suspect he was murdered."
Watson replied half-jokingly, "He asked me to investigate his whereabouts."
"He's fine. He was just carrying out a covert investigation."
Young Sherlock calmly replied, "He'll be back in two months at the latest. Go tell your client—if there really is such a client."
Watson's heart tightened. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, remaining silent for a moment.
Sherlock sighed inwardly.
That idiot...
He had previously felt that Watson wasn't very intelligent, and now that feeling was even clearer.
Sherlock, whose Path of Wisdom has now reached the Third Level, can clearly perceive that... Detective Watson's Path of Wisdom has only reached the Second Level.
He's really not smart!
For most people, the ability to awaken to Extraordinary Profession derived from the Path of Wisdom seems to indicate that they are intelligent.
But Sherlock knew the other person's identity—
He is the illegitimate son of a Mage Lord of Narcissus Territory and the Child of the Moon. As the union of two high-ranking extraordinary beings from different paths, he was born with adaptability to Path of Wisdom and the Path of Love.
However, Watson's abilities are not outstanding.
At least not particularly outstanding in the Path of Wisdom.
Given his Path of Wisdom, it's astonishing that he's only managed to reach the Second Level at his current age...
Generally speaking, this is roughly the level of a recent college graduate!
Detective Watson's father, Dr. Watson, was a senior mage of the Fourth Level, capable of fighting even Fifth Level powerhouses within his Mage Tower. However, he was most respected for his research as a medical doctor—he possessed knowledge of dental, digestive, and lymphatic system diseases.
Sherlock even read Dr. Watson's papers and learned a lot from them.
Dr. Watson once wrote a monograph that detailed the digestion rates of various foods within the human body, and how different foods at different stages of digestion behave under different environments and after different times after death.
Dr. Watson also wrote a paper describing the injuries caused by different types of bullets hitting different parts of the human body at different distances, and what the possible direct causes of death might be.
This knowledge greatly inspired Sherlock.
He was also Sherlock's pen pal and a source of assistance. When Sherlock encountered some difficult cases, he would photograph some of the information and mail it to this doctor, who would then kindly offer detailed explanations.
Dr. Watson also wrote a letter hoping Sherlock would look after his child. Otherwise, he might very well be taken by the Avalon authorities for a "hostage exchange."
Yes, Andre Watson's true identity is that of a spy.
Moreover, they were spies who had already been exposed and placed under Avalon's surveillance.
