Hai Na was raised in Eagle Cape Village, Mubay County. Her father is the village’s best blacksmith, and her family was prosperous enough to send her to school in Bagpipe Town rather than have her remain in the village. She has a younger brother, Jack. 271

Although Eagle Cape Village was steeped in Twilight influence, Hai Na was deliberately educated toward the Path of Authority after Jacob identified her Authority adaptability. Her mother cultivated her obedience to rules, loyalty, and sense of hierarchy from childhood. 296
