Yunus's Letter of Commission
Although Sherlock himself swore an oath promising to remain unmarried for life, this does not mean he is incapable of feeling.
He looked at Iver, then at Isabel, who was blushing slightly, and immediately understood.
—My initial feeling was right after all. Isabel really couldn't resist Iver's temptation...
Fortunately, Iver is a good person. They're actually a good match.
In hindsight, there was no better young man of marriageable age in the entire Avalon than Iver.
Sherlock remained silent for a moment, then spoke softly, "Should I say congratulations?"
The implication was, when are you getting engaged? "Let's talk about it when I get back."
Iver said with a smile.
Sherlock narrowed his eyes, half-sarcastically and half-reminder: "Then be careful on your way—according to the conventions of novels and plays, when someone says something like that, they're probably in danger."
"You're speaking too soon, Sherlock."
Iver reached out and ruffled his hair, replying cheerfully, "You have to come with me too."
"Ha--?"
Sherlock exclaimed incredulously, "Why? I still have so many cases to solve!"
"Let Hai Na handle those cases; she needs to get some experience."
Iver retorted bluntly, "You expect me and Lily to leave alone? Who else can I take besides you?"
"... Is Edward not good enough?"
"He did travel with me, but he went by boat to the Iris."
"What a hassle..."
Sherlock grumbled under his breath, but quickly perked up again. "Fine. I've never been to the Theocracy before, this will broaden my horizons. Besides, there happens to be a case..."
As he spoke, he pulled a letter from his satchel. "Take a look at this first, Iver."
"What's this?"
Iver asked casually, taking the document from him.
At the same time, he handed the documents he was carrying to Sherlock: "Perfect timing, don't waste any time, take a look at this too—I was planning to give it to you when I went to your house yesterday."
"A letter from a client in the Theocracy... And what is this?"
Sherlock frowned.
Looking at the "Top Secret" mark on the document, he hesitated to open it. "Is this something I can see?"
"I'm giving you authorization, go ahead and look. It's about my sister, I've already read it once. You might remember her, so help me read it and analyze it."
Iver replied casually, opening the letter. "But you've probably heard... after all, it was your brother who helped me investigate."
"No, Mycroft is very tight-lipped. He's not the type to discuss work with his family."
Sherlock, defending his brother, opened the document and began to read it carefully.
Isabel watched them stand there looking at things and sighed helplessly. She pulled them to sit in the pavilion first, and then asked a maid to bring them some black tea and snacks.
As Iver looked at the letter, the tone and story in it seemed increasingly familiar.
He read half of it, then flipped directly to the last page and glanced at the sender's name.
—As expected.
This is a letter sent from the Theocracy by a bard named Yunus.
Yunus enjoys considerable fame and prestige within Avalon.
He was a rather excellent luthier and a decent bard.
He traveled all over the country carrying his custom-made guitar, earning a living by performing. He ate very ordinary food every day, the kind of food that ordinary people eat, almost like a beggar's food.
His clothes were tattered and worn. At best, they could only be described as clean, and sometimes he would get lost. He looked like a wanderer, travel-worn and weary.
He would distribute all his earnings to the poor in a city before leaving it. He would never keep a penny for himself, carrying only food, a sleeping bag, a short sword, a short bow, and his guitar, as he wandered the world.
As Third Level bard, he possesses considerable combat strength in the current version. Therefore, he will rely on his own strength to perform acts of heroism alone—and when he wins, he will compose songs about his adventures to boast about his achievements.
Sometimes he would crash, but luckily he was good at running and always managed to escape. This is why he always went on adventures alone; it made it easier for him to run away.
If he encounters an enemy he cannot defeat, he will compose a catchy and easy-to-sing tune for them. He will cram information about the enemy's misdeeds, abilities, location, and number of people into the lyrics and spread the song everywhere.
Then, while they were singing, the person opposite them died.
— Either a powerful figure had heard his song and, having nothing better to do, went directly to the location mentioned in the lyrics; or the impact was so severe that public opinion was outraged, alarming the Inspectorate, and was subsequently investigated and resolved by the Avalon authorities.
But even the Inspectorate certainly doesn't know Yunus's true identity.
He was Prince Albert, Isabel's biological father. After his wife, brothers, and sisters all died due to the curse, he abandoned Isabel and fled the Silver and Tin Palace.
He was a master of illusion, which allowed him to alter his appearance. The identity he now uses, "Yunus," is also based on a real person—a poet friend of Prince Albert, with whom he traveled to various places to right wrongs and perform acts of chivalry when Prince Albert first fled Glass Island.
Later, they encountered a powerful enemy in the wild, Yunus died while rescuing Albert. A disheartened Albert then used illusion magic to transform himself into Yunus, mimicking his voice, tone, and habits... as if the one who died was Prince Albert, and the one who lived was Yunus.
Although that enemy has long since been killed by "Yunus", he has not yet reverted to his true identity.
"Yunus" didn't even return to Glass Island for his mother Queen Sofia 'Queen's Funeral —he was so focused on playing Yunus that it was as if Albert were truly dead.
After the Queen's death and Isabel's accession to the throne, he abruptly ceased his activities in Avalon and went to the Theocracy.
An elf girl he once rescued in Avalon.
Because she was grateful to him for saving her life, she left him a token and invited him to her home.
When he actually went to the Theocracy, he learned that the girl had already died—even before she went to Avalon.
This is the most famous side quest in Version 2.0, Iver also ran back then.
Yunus appears in the main storyline and is quite popular due to his charming personality and unwavering support for the protagonist. His reputation shop is also the only way for the bard class to obtain the "guitar" instrument.
He even gave Isabel an elven harp as her exclusive weapon in the early stages of the game.
This side quest reveals his past, the origin of the harp, and ultimately reveals that he is Isabel's father.
Most importantly, after completing this side quest, you can get a replica of Isabel's harp, which can be used for transmogrification; and a follower pet named "Little Yunus".
This pet plays guitar when it's not in use, and you can even change songs by command. It's definitely a very thoughtful design.
It can also be used to capture memes when taking photos with Isabel.
Aha, your father is in my hands. jpg The Cruel Autumn event is no longer possible, and Avalon has not been destroyed.
Yunus, who was originally scheduled to go to the Theocracy when Avalon was destroyed, went to the Theocracy a year earlier.
Even so, he still received the same answer.
—The girl named Anastasia is long dead. And she never went to Avalon while she was alive.
However, both the girl's personal information and the token she gave to Yunus were genuine. This seemed to prove that she had indeed been to Avalon and had indeed come into contact with Yunus.
Yunus felt his thoughts were somewhat confused, and even doubted whether his experience was real.
Unlike in the game, this time he didn't recklessly try to solve the problem himself. Instead, he remained calm and didn't act rashly. After gathering all the information he could, he wrote a letter to "Sherlock, the smartest detective in Avalon," to submit his request and attached a token.
It was a moon-white hair ribbon with light blue elven runes on it.
If you translate the Elven Language above, you will get the message: "Anastasia, may you be well."
"Fox, what do you think?" Sherlock glanced at Iver finished reading the letter.
"...Um?"
Iver looked at Sherlock with unusual seriousness and was momentarily puzzled. "It is quite interesting... but why would you be interested in this?"
"Don't you think this situation is similar to... the ' Swamp People '?"
Sherlock asked seriously.
Upon hearing this, Iver looked at him with some surprise.
He initially wanted to reject it because he didn't recall it being mentioned in the storyline—or rather, the term "Swamp People" didn't exist in the game.
This was a term Iver coined based on the "Swamp Man Paradox" to describe the strange ritual in Eagle Cape Village; only Iver and a few others, including Sherlock, knew it. At least Jacob certainly wouldn't call his ritual that.
But Iver, upon closer reflection...
—It doesn't seem impossible?
Because in the game's storyline, the player never found out what really happened— Sherlock wasn't involved at the time, only Iver and Isabel were there, and they certainly didn't know about the Swamp People, and as refugees, they had nowhere to look up information.
So in the end, it had to be hastily concluded, and it was simply considered "the longing of the Maiden Ghost." What followed became the story of Yunus and Isabel recognizing each other, and the "Maiden Ghost" seemed to become a "chance encounter" that gave him and Isabel the opportunity to meet.
But perhaps there is some secret behind this? Iver immediately became somewhat interested.
Moreover, once this event ends, you can also obtain that top-quality elven harp.
It is both a pretty good Extraordinary Weapon and a top-quality musical instrument.
It can be given to Isabel as a birthday gift.
"This commission has come at just the right time, "Iver thought.
Moreover, from any perspective, Iver felt it was necessary for him to meet "Yunus".
He was, after all, Isabel's father... and her future father-in-law.
"No matter what, you all need to be careful."
Isabel, who was drawing Iver, looked up at the two of them with some concern as they showed interest and determination. "If it's too dangerous, give up."
Iver's adoptive father disappeared in the Theocracy.
Although it's the territory of the Eternal Pope, it doesn't seem that safe...
Iver suddenly spoke up, "Speaking of which, Lu Lu..."
Hearing Iver call Isabel so affectionately, Sherlock's brow twitched involuntarily, revealing a "senior citizen's phone" expression.
But when he heard Iver's next words, Sherlock silently asked, "Hmm?" "If I see Prince Albert in the Theocracy, should I pass on a message to you?"
"... Is Prince Albert also in the Theocracy?"
Sherlock was somewhat surprised, and subconsciously analyzed, "That makes sense. I haven't heard from him in a long time; if he's in the Theocracy, that makes sense..."
—But why did Iver ask this at this moment? Another possibility immediately appeared in Sherlock's mind.
Could it be that Yunus is actually...?
Upon hearing this, Isabel fell silent. Her expression became somewhat complicated.
"... May 22nd".
She suddenly spoke up, "That's my birthday, and also the coronation day I set for myself. And maybe..."
At this point, she glanced at Iver and said softly, "It will be our engagement day."
"He didn't come back the day my Grandmother died, nor did he come back on the Day of National Funeral. I hope he will come back on that day—in my father's name. Otherwise..."
She swallowed the rest of her words and didn't finish them.
Isabel is gentle and doesn't like to say hurtful things; but she is also determined and stubborn, and once she has made up her mind, it is difficult to change it.
"... It doesn't matter whether you see him in the Theocracy or not. I've already thought about this in my heart."
She spoke softly.
What should have been harsh words sounded rather sad, "If you don't want to come back... then don't come back."
