Background

The Twelve Ancestral Witches were conceived from Pangu's essence blood in the Father God's Blood Pool within Pangu Hall. They share Pangu's bloodline but lack Primordial Spirits, preventing them from refining and properly wielding magical treasures. After the blood pool's essence blood was exhausted, it could produce only Great Witches, whose bloodlines grew increasingly diluted. 7

Their bodies are naturally stronger than ordinary Innate Spiritual Treasures, and their shared origin grants them exceptional combined strength. Even late Grand Unity cultivators find them difficult to confront as a group. 2

They first clash with Demon Emperors Dijun and Taiyi while both sides are still in the Grand Unity realm. When Hongyun reveals that Taiyi's Eastern Emperor Bell is actually Pangu's Chaos Bell, the witches abandon their interest in Hongyun's Ginseng Fruits and attempt to kill the Demon Emperors to reclaim their Father God's relic. 2 3 Their first major battle lasts five hundred years before Dao Ancestor Hongjun intervenes and saves the Demon Emperors. 3 4

During a later encounter on Buzhou Mountain, the witches mistake Hongyun's superior Pangu-derived bloodline and physical power for proof that he is an Ancestral Witch. After Hongyun claims to be Pangu's son, they accept him as the “Divine Son,” revere him above themselves, and bring him to Pangu Hall. 6 7

Hongyun teaches them the complete Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique, replacing the incomplete first five revolutions recorded on Pangu Hall's stone tablet. In exchange for this guidance and out of devotion to the supposed Divine Son, they assist his search for the Innate Gourd Vine, defend it from rival powers, and later act on his information regarding the Three Immortal Islands. 7 8 16 17

In battle, the Twelve Ancestral Witches assume immense true forms and fight with their bodies rather than conventional magical treasures.

Personality

The Ancestral Witches are blunt, warlike, and intensely direct. When they want Hongyun's Ginseng Fruits, they surround him and demand that he hand them over rather than attempting diplomacy or deception. 6

They hold Pangu in absolute reverence and treat objects associated with him—especially the Chaos Bell and Pangu Hall—as matters of clan honor. Their belief that Hongyun is Pangu's son overrides their earlier hostility, turning them into fiercely loyal followers. 3 7

They are united in conflict and protective of the Witch Clan's interests. Although the Innate Gourd Vine is of little use to them personally, they insist that its distribution remains their decision because it grew on Witch Clan territory. 9 10
