History

Dijun first appears at Purple Heaven Palace during the struggle for Hongjun's purple cushions, joining the melee for the opportunity to become a Saint's disciple. He later attempts to draw Hongyun into the conflict between the Demon Clan and the Twelve Ancestral Witches, but Hongyun rejects any claim of Demon Clan affiliation. 1 2

After Hongyun exposes Taiyi's Eastern Emperor Bell as the Chaos Bell, the Twelve Ancestral Witches intensify their attack on the two Demon Emperors. Dijun and Taiyi endure a five-hundred-year siege until Hongjun intervenes and ends the first Witch-Demon battle. 3 4

Dijun repeatedly seeks opportunities to strengthen the Demon Clan. He contests the Innate Gourd Vine at Buzhou Mountain, but is forced to swear that the Twelve Ancestral Witches may decide its distribution. He later spreads word that Hongyun possesses all seven gourds, helping provoke Old Ancestor Minghe's plot against Hongyun. 10 13

With Taiyi, he recruits Fuxi as a Demon King and Kunpeng as Demon Master, then establishes the Heavenly Court for the Demon Clan. He leads Demon Clan elites into the newly appearing Thirty-Three Heavens, where Hongyun's Heaven Suppressing Coffin trap kills remnant souls and costs the Demon Clan more than thirty percent of its combat strength. 19 20 23 24

Before the second major Witch-Demon war, Dijun and Taiyi lead their forces against the Twelve Ancestral Witches. Dijun supports Taiyi's deployment of the Star Array of the Heavens, but the array is shattered by Pangu's manifested true form. Hongjun again stops the battle, decreeing that Demons rule the heavens while Witches rule the earth. 28 29 30

Dijun later senses a Heavenly Dao-directed marriage opportunity and chooses Xihe of the Lunar Star. After learning that Xihe and Changxi are already married to Hongyun, he tries to seize Xihe by force. Hongyun humiliates him with a slap, while Taiyi's intervention ends with the Eastern Emperor Bell shattered by Hongyun's punch. 39 40 41 42

Personality

Dijun is ambitious and status-conscious, viewing the Demon Clan's expansion, the Heavenly Court, and victory over the Witch Clan as the path to supreme authority. He treats favorable omens—such as the appearance of the Thirty-Three Heavens and the prospect of a Heavenly Marriage—as proof that Heaven favors his clan. 20 23 39

He is also forceful when opposed. Rather than tolerate Jieyin and Zhunti's repeated demands for the seven gourds, he repeatedly drives them from the Solar Star, eventually paying them three spiritual treasures simply to end the disruption to his war preparations. 25 26

His confidence depends heavily on the Demon Clan's strength and Taiyi's combat power. Hongyun's effortless defeat of both brothers leaves Dijun terrified and forces the Demon Clan to retreat. 41 42
