Background / History

Nuwa attended Dao Ancestor Hongjun's lectures at Purple Heaven Palace and occupied one of the first six Purple Cushions. Hongjun regarded her as one of the fated Six Sages and intended to accept her as a disciple after his sermons. 12 32

When the Innate Gourd Vine appeared at Buzhou Mountain, Nuwa arrived to claim that the treasure was fated to her. She joined the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, and Zhunti in contesting the Witch Clan's control of the vine, but Hongyun and the Twelve Ancestral Witches manipulated the distribution and kept the major benefits for Hongyun. 9 10 11

Nuwa later traveled with Fuxi to the East Sea's Three Immortal Islands. They broke into Penglai Island despite the Immortal Court's defensive formation, defeated Eastern Prince Gong and Queen Mother of the West, and drove them into retreat. The islands had already been stripped of their treasures by Hongyun and the Witch Clan. 18

After failing to become a Saint by unifying her Three Corpses, Nuwa traveled the Great Desolation in search of another path. At Shouyang Mountain, she comprehended that creating a new race was her opportunity for Sainthood and sought the Gourd Vine and Nine Heavens Breathing Soil held by Hongyun. 43 44

Nuwa used the Gourd Vine and Nine Heavens Breathing Soil to create the first 3,000 Innate Humans. When the divine soil ran out, she followed Hongyun's suggestion to use yellow soil, ultimately creating eighty million acquired humans. 44 45
