Chapter 41: Visitors to the Village
As Lu Minghao analyzed the changes in his strength after advancing, a faint red glow flickered in Sally's large purple eyes, and the dormant Ghost Tribe bloodline within her seemed to show signs of revival.
"Sally, stop playing."
At this moment, Lu Minghao's voice suddenly came from the side. Sally looked at him with her large eyes full of innocence.
"Got it!"
Sally tilted her small head and realized Lu Minghao wasn't angry with her for toying with that Fang Wolf Tribe member. She quickly ran to Lu Minghao's side, happily starting to pick out ingredients for their meal that day.
Lu Minghao looked up at Sally, who was smiling and picking through the corpse of the Fang Wolf Tribe member in front of her. Lu Minghao had noticed what Sally had done earlier, but he hadn't stopped her.
After all, children are bound to be a little playful.
As for Sally playing with and killing a Fang Wolf Tribe member, Lu Minghao didn't care at all. Possessing half of the Ghost Tribe bloodline, coupled with her experiences since childhood, Sally's preferred pastimes were hardly comparable to those of ordinary human children.
If anything, Lu Minghao found her even cuter when she was playing!
"Minghao, there's so much left, what should we do?"
More than ten minutes later, Sally, carrying the corpse of the Fang Wolf Tribe leader on her back and dragging two others with her hands, looked heartbrokenly at the pile that remained. She had never seen so much meat before; it was a sight she wouldn't have dared to dream of in the past.
But now it was appearing before her, yet she couldn't take it all. Thinking of this, Sally's small face was filled with heartache and anger—anger that she had so much meat but couldn't take it with her.
"Alright, leave the rest to me."
Lu Minghao looked at Sally, whose small face had turned pale with distress, and helplessly patted her head. His elastic body leaped up, and before Sally's astonished eyes, Lu Minghao's body began to writhe, eventually transforming into a giant curtain that swallowed all the Fang Wolf Tribe corpses on the ground.
He even gnawed away a layer of the blood-stained soil and grass, leaving the entire ground bare.
"So amazing!"
Looking at the scene where the ground had sunk by a layer, Sally's speech became a little slurred. Her gaze towards Lu Minghao became even more envious. If only she had such an ability, she would never have to worry about starving.
"Don't worry, Sally, you'll have it too later, though you might not be able to eat dirt."
Lu Minghao hopped over to Sally, took the four Fang Wolf Tribe corpses she was dragging, and carried them. As for Sally's envy, once he bestowed the "Power of Gluttony" upon her, she would likely possess it too. Lu Minghao wasn't sure if Sally's half-human, half-ghost body could digest dirt.
Even if she could, Lu Minghao would at most let Sally taste it out of curiosity, but she wouldn't be allowed to eat it after that. After all, eating dirt offered no nutritional value and was simply not worth it.
"Really?"
Hearing Lu Minghao's words, Sally looked at him with her large eyes blinking rapidly.
"Really."
With that, Lu Minghao, dragging the four Fang Wolf Tribe corpses, walked towards the small wooden house. Sally quickly picked up the wooden basket filled with wild fruits from the ground, shouldered the corpse of the Fang Wolf Tribe leader, and chased after him, her large eyes filled with anticipation, not doubting Lu Minghao's words at all.
In the lush green forest, a Slime dragged four Fang Wolf Tribe corpses, walking ahead. A small girl, half-ghost and half-human, followed, hopping along. Occasionally, she would take two wild fruits from the wooden basket in her arms, stuffing one into the Slime's body and the other into her own mouth, her small face filled with happiness.
At noon, the scorching sun baked the earth. The clear stream in front of the dilapidated wooden house reflected a faint light.
In the stream, Sally, holding up her skirt with her small hands, splashed water with her fair, tender feet. The splashes hit the Slime not far away, and her bell-like laughter echoed through the forest, like a playful and adorable little Elf.
"Sally, come and eat."
"Coming."
Hearing Lu Minghao's call, Sally ran to the bank, splashing through the water. She vigorously shook her small feet to dry them, put on her shoes, and obediently sat beside Lu Minghao. When she saw the roasted meat, golden brown and glistening with oil, emitting a fragrant aroma, she couldn't resist grabbing a piece and, ignoring the heat, began to devour it with gusto.
Her fair, tender face was instantly smeared with oil and shredded meat, making her look like a little calico cat.
"Hmm?"
Just as Lu Minghao was taking a piece of roasted meat and stuffing it into his body, he suddenly turned his head towards the direction of the nearby village. The aura he emitted became dangerous, and a purple hue appeared on his sky-blue body.
"Minghao, what's wrong?"
Beside him, Sally, who was also devouring the roasted meat in her hand, noticed Lu Minghao's change and quickly looked up, asking with concern.
"It's nothing, just some guests have arrived."
Lu Minghao waved his hand at Sally, indicating that everything was fine and she didn't need to worry. He then transferred his consciousness to Number Three, who had been monitoring the human village. He saw several people dressed as Adventurers walking into the village, and the one receiving them was the Village Chief.
