Background / History

Shirou was an ordinary student with some aptitude for magecraft, but his practical knowledge was limited to basic reinforcement. He was killed by Cú Chulainn after witnessing a battle at school, then revived by Lu Minghao, who replaced nearly all of his internal organs in the Shadow World. Shirou retained the memory of his death as a nightmare and gradually noticed that his body no longer behaved normally. 288 289

When Cú Chulainn returned to kill him again, Shirou's instinct to survive awakened. His mana erupted, and he summoned Artoria Pendragon as Saber. The abnormal organs inside him became the foundation of Lu Minghao's plan to reshape him into “Giant Hero Emiya” by feeding on Shirou's fear, anger, attachment, and eventual loss. 289 290

Shirou initially inherited Emiya Kiritsugu's dream of becoming a Hero of Justice. After witnessing the damage caused by the Holy Grail War, he wished to protect others and sought to end the conflict. His attachment to Matou Sakura became increasingly central to his choices, eventually superseding his former ideal. 291 296 299
