Background / History

Tongtian is one of the Three Pure Ones alongside Laozi and Primordial Heavenly Lord. He leads the Intercepting Sect from Biyou Palace on Jin'ao Island, whose large disciple body is known as the “Myriad Immortals Paying Homage.” 17 27 52

During the contest to create Great Thousand Worlds for Merit, Tongtian rapidly opens two worlds with an Innate Supreme Treasure. Although he acknowledges that Nuwa's world is more vibrant due to her Dao of Creation, he ultimately ranks first in the creation contest. 21 48

Personality

Tongtian is forthright and competitive. He openly reacts to Primordial Heavenly Lord advancing ahead of him, takes pride in the Intercepting Sect's numbers, and is eager to demonstrate that his sect can undertake achievements beyond the reach of other Saint lineages. 16 52 53

He is strongly protective of his disciples. He rejects Lu Changsheng's offer to make his personal disciples Saints because contracts with Wuji Heaven could effectively take them from the Intercepting Sect; instead, he seeks opportunities that allow them to advance while remaining under his guidance. 51

Tongtian is also highly motivated by Merit. Though he initially frames his cooperation with Lu Changsheng as friendship and service to the Primordial World, he readily commits once guaranteed a reward, and he treats a potential one hundred million Merit payout as sufficient reason to perfect a supreme formation. 51 60
