Background / History

Su Zhenxing built Su Corporation from a business stronger than the Liu family into Haishi’s richest company within a year. His drive to prove that Liu Yanran was the right marriage choice was a major reason for this expansion. 547

At a Liu family gathering, he became infatuated with the recently graduated Liu Yanran. After repeated rejections, he used business leverage to obtain a date; his mother opposed the relationship, but he eventually married Liu Yanran after expanding Su Corporation. 547

Following the marriage, Su Zhenxing concentrated on the company and delegated most household matters to Liu Yanran. The marriage initially developed into mutual care, but his long absence from family affairs left him unaware of major internal problems. 547

By the time Su Chen returns to the family, Su Zhenxing is the household’s unquestioned authority and holds decisive influence in Haishi society. He and Liu Yanran have two daughters, Su Lili and Su Qiqi, while Su Chen is his biological son and Su Mu is the adopted son he raised for years. 1 197

Appearance

Su Zhenxing is a middle-aged man who once regarded himself as confident in both wealth and appearance. Later family turmoil visibly wears him down, with Su Chen observing him as seeming to have aged dramatically. 1 228 547

  • Middle-aged; later described as physically aging and weakened. 1 228
  • Maintains a polished, proper public image despite volatile private conduct. 148 469
  • Sees himself as a successful and attractive businessman. 547

Personality

Su Zhenxing is highly status-conscious and practical. He favors whichever family member appears most useful to the Su family or Su Corporation, supplying them with resources and support while withdrawing warmth from those he considers liabilities. This approach initially led him to favor the capable, well-trained Su Mu, then increasingly shift toward Su Chen as Su Chen demonstrated business, technical, and strategic value. 142 163 167

His pride is closely tied to Su Corporation’s prestige. He can be vain and easily flattered by powerful figures, but becomes guarded when he senses a business threat. He is willing to swallow his pride—including apologizing to Su Chen—when the company’s interests require it. 266 337 504

Privately, Su Zhenxing is emotionally volatile and controlling. The discovery that Su Mu is He Jingtian’s biological son triggers intense rage, and he repeatedly commits domestic violence against Liu Yanran. Although he occasionally shows regret or softens when she submits, these moments do not end his abusive behavior. 197 228 352 353

Attitude toward Su Chen

Su Zhenxing begins by underestimating Su Chen due to his orphanage background and unconventional behavior. He attempts to discipline, test, and manipulate him, including arranging difficult company work for him. 62 95 142

As Su Chen repeatedly proves his value, Su Zhenxing becomes reliant on him for negotiations, fixed-asset management, R&D leadership, corporate technology, and external crises. This reliance gradually creates a conflicted mixture of pride, fear, jealousy, and genuine concern. 125 145 266 337 378
