"Don't waste your effort investigating. It was me who personally struck down your incarnation. And now, I've come to take your life." Xuanxiao's figure strolled leisurely out of the Space Rift, a smile on his face as he looked at Mo Yuan.
His tone was light and casual, as if he weren't discussing life and death, but something as mundane as asking, "Have you eaten?"
"How is that possible? How could you break through all my clan's defenses and appear directly in my Cave Abode?" Mo Yuan stared in shock at Xuanxiao, who had suddenly materialized beside him, his eyes filled with disbelief.
This was the deepest part of the Kirin Clan's ancestral land—Kirin Cliff!
At this very moment, the Kirin Clan's Tribe Chief, Shi Qilin, a Golden Immortal of the Origin, was stationed right here in Kirin Cliff. The ancestral land was also protected by a powerful clan-guarding formation, layer upon layer of defense. How could any living being have silently infiltrated his location?
Yet Xuanxiao stood plainly beside him, leaving no room for doubt.
Before Mo Yuan could recover from his shock, Xuanxiao raised a hand and sent a bolt of Purple Firmament Divine Thunder crashing down toward him.
"Ah!"
Struck by the Purple Firmament Divine Thunder, Mo Yuan let out a wretched scream.
He could clearly feel the terrifying power contained within that thunder. He knew that if one or two more struck him, he would likely fall on the spot.
"Damn it, how could such a terrifying being exist in Thunder Marsh? I've been there before and never sensed anyone this powerful. And there's no grand formation guarding Thunder Marsh—it doesn't look at all like the Daoist Temple of some great Divine Ability holder." Mo Yuan's heart churned with shock and fear, a tangle of confusion and dread.
"Senior, Poor Daoist truly did not know Thunder Marsh was your Daoist Temple. I have offended you greatly, and I beg your forgiveness." Mo Yuan was indeed a Kirin who knew when to yield. Though he still couldn't fathom how Xuanxiao had entered undetected, that didn't stop him from dropping to his knees and begging for mercy.
Xuanxiao was momentarily stunned by Mo Yuan's decisive kneeling. The Purple Firmament Divine Thunder he had been gathering in his hand unconsciously dissipated.
After all, Mo Yuan was at least a Golden Immortal of the Origin. Xuanxiao had assumed he would be the type with an unyielding spine, preferring death to dishonor.
In the Primordial World, most beings valued face and reputation above their very lives. But this Mo Yuan had knelt so smoothly—it caught him completely off guard.
Xuanxiao looked at Mo Yuan with curiosity, thinking to himself: Does this guy cultivate the Causality Great Dao just because he's afraid of death?
Xuanxiao stared at Mo Yuan in exasperation. "You're at least a Golden Immortal of the Origin. Kneeling and begging for mercy so easily—aren't you ashamed?"
Mo Yuan blinked innocently at Xuanxiao's words and replied with utter conviction, "Not at all. In this world, what's more important than my life? To save my life, what's wrong with begging for mercy? If Senior is still unsatisfied, I can kowtow a few more times." With that, he began thumping his head on the ground.
"What a shameless Kirin. Your behavior must be unique in all the Primordial World." Xuanxiao looked at the endlessly kowtowing Mo Yuan, utterly speechless.
"Thank you for the compliment, Senior." Mo Yuan, far from being offended by being called shameless, actually expressed gratitude with a face full of appreciation.
"You..." Xuanxiao was left momentarily tongue-tied by Mo Yuan's antics, unsure what to say.
"Forget it. Your sheer brazenness has actually moved me. From now on, remember this: Thunder Marsh is my territory. If your Kirin Clan sees it again, take a long detour." Xuanxiao was truly amused despite himself. It was rare to meet such a character, and he lost the desire to fight.
"Rest assured, Senior. From now on, the Kirin Clan will never again dare to covet Thunder Marsh." Hearing this, Mo Yuan felt an immense weight lift from his shoulders and nodded frantically like a bobblehead.
If you find this book enjoyable, to avoid losing track, please remember to add it to your bookshelf.
"Alright, I'm off." Xuanxiao waved a hand casually, and a Space Rift opened before him.
With a flicker, he vanished from the Kirin Clan's territory.
After watching Xuanxiao leave, Mo Yuan's eyes darted slyly, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Phew, that menace is finally gone. His Purple Firmament Divine Thunder is terrifying. In that thunder, I truly felt the Aura of death—a sensation I've never felt even from the old man. Good thing I'm quick-witted, or I'd have fallen for sure." Thinking this, Mo Yuan felt a touch of smugness.
"But I still need to tell the old man about this quickly. Since Thunder Marsh is that one's Daoist Temple, the Kirin Clan had better not provoke him unless absolutely necessary. And my Cave Abode doesn't feel safe anymore. Better to hide out at the old man's place—it should be safer there." Muttering to himself, Mo Yuan turned to leave.
"Mo Yuan, why aren't you cultivating in your own Cave Abode? What are you doing here?" Shi Qilin sensed Mo Yuan's arrival and shot him a slightly disdainful glance.
"Father, I'm your good son! What's with that tone?" Mo Yuan, unfazed by Shi Qilin's dismissive attitude, plopped down cross-legged in front of him.
In truth, Mo Yuan was not directly born from Shi Qilin. He had been conceived from Shi Qilin's essence blood combined with the Five Virtues power at his place of origin, making him one of only two Five Virtues Kirins in the Primordial World.
But Shi Qilin had always been deeply dissatisfied with Mo Yuan's cowardly, survival-obsessed nature. He felt it brought shame to himself and the entire Kirin Clan, so he usually treated him coldly.
"Enough, spare me your glib tongue. You rarely leave your Cave Abode. What's the matter? Spit it out, then get lost." Shi Qilin said irritably.
"Hmph, I have something important to tell you, but you—your own territory got invaded and you didn't even know. And you still have the nerve to look down on me." Mo Yuan looked at Shi Qilin, his face full of defiance.
Hearing this, Shi Qilin paused, then frowned. He swept his powerful divine sense over all of Kirin Cliff, meticulously scanning every inch, but found nothing unusual.
Shi Qilin looked at Mo Yuan, puzzled. "Impossible. I just carefully sensed everything. There's not a trace of abnormality in the clan. How could any being have broken in? Have you been in seclusion so long you've gone mad?"
"I almost fell just now! Do you think I'd come out of seclusion for nothing? That one said Thunder Marsh is his Daoist Temple. Remember that incarnation token you asked me to make for Mo Huang? That token nearly got me killed. Don't ever ask me to make another one—this is all karma." Mo Yuan grew irritated that Shi Qilin didn't believe him.
Shi Qilin shook his head helplessly. "You're a Five Virtues Kirin. Instead of properly cultivating the Five Elements Great Dao, you go delving into the Causality Great Dao. I don't know what goes on in that head of yours."
"Mo Yuan is usually timid, but he wouldn't lie to me about something this serious. Yet with my cultivation, even Hongjun and those other Fellow Daoists couldn't sneak into Kirin Cliff without my notice. Could the one Mo Yuan met have already broken through to the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal of the Origin realm? It seems I need to visit Thunder Marsh." Shi Qilin pondered silently.
"Mo Yuan, you're coming with me to Thunder Marsh. I hope you're not lying to me. If you are, I'll throw you into the Primordial World to train for ten epochs and teach you a lesson." Shi Qilin looked at Mo Yuan with a stern expression.
"I'm definitely not lying to you, but I'm not going to Thunder Marsh. That one is too terrifying. I'm afraid he'll strike me dead again." Mo Yuan shook his head frantically at Shi Qilin's words.
For Mo Yuan, one of the rare adherents of the "Way of Survival" in the Primordial World, that brief encounter with Xuanxiao had been the closest he'd ever come to death since his birth. He had no desire to face Xuanxiao again.
"I'm not discussing this with you. I'm informing you." Shi Qilin reached out with an ethereal hand and lightly grasped. Mo Yuan's body was seized uncontrollably.
"No!"
Mo Yuan struggled desperately against Shi Qilin's grip, but found it useless. He could only let out a despairing Wailing.
Soon, the two Kirins vanished from Kirin Cliff.
