Background / History

Persephone was Surtr's strongest and most feared opponent on Terra. Their decisive battle brought Surtr closest to death; afterward, they set aside their conflict and became allies who could trust, support, and occasionally betray one another. 23

At some point following Theresia's death, Persephone entered Chernobog's sarcophagus and erased her own memories. When Surtr found her awakening, Persephone could recognize neither Surtr nor herself, and believed that “Persephone” was not necessarily her real name. 23 24

Despite her amnesia, Persephone rapidly reconstructed the situation around her: Rhodes Island's decline, Amiya's position as a successor, and the danger of testing allies with lethal force. 24 She later resumed operating as Rhodes Island's Doctor while extending her influence over Chernobog through drones, communications, and long-range planning. 39 97

Persephone's control of Chernobog eventually became so comprehensive that, while her body rested in the sarcophagus, her will could extend through the city's lights, roads, drones, signals, and infrastructure. 234

Persephone is a purple-haired young woman commonly identified as Rhodes Island's Doctor. She has emerald eyes, a slender and pale complexion, and an outwardly cool, composed bearing. 24 46 77
