Background / History

Thirty thousand years ago, Baojian Sect was the only sect in the Great Gan Dynasty qualified for an Imperial Lineage. During a world-shaking catastrophe, its strongest Guardian Supreme departed on an unknown mission and vanished, leaving behind the Supreme Token. Without that protector, the sect was besieged by rival sects, nearly annihilated, and eventually lost its imperial status. 660

In its struggle to survive, Baojian Sect accepted the Ancient Emperor's appointment to operate the Black Prison, a post responsible for suppressing criminal and rebellious sects. Ancestor Chen personally led the Black Prison, then later secured permission for the sect's elite to return to the Central Continent. He resigned from the position three hundred years ago and repeatedly refused later invitations from Xuanyuan City. 698

Though diminished from its former status, Baojian Sect remains one of the Central Continent's strongest sects. Baojian Sect dispatched three hundred participants to Jade Void Palace for the State Selection. The Demon Mountain incident inflicted serious losses on the sect, and Xu Baiyang believed Qi Tianming's survival spared Baojian Sect a recovery period of at least ten years. 680 691

Conflict with Donghua Island

Hua Tianyin, son of Donghua Island's Island Master, infiltrated Baojian Sect and was subdued by its elders. When the Island Master retaliated with a clone, Zhang Wuhao destroyed it with a single sword strike and rejected the demand that Baojian Sect submit. 697

Ancestor Chen later led the sect's retaliation, making thirteen moves against sects that had previously attacked Baojian Sect. His campaign left Donghua Island destroyed and warned other hostile forces against further provocation. 698
