Territory and Facilities

Yunqing Sect is located within the spiritually rich Yunqing Mountain Range, north of Linhai Town. Its grounds contain mountain pavilions, towers, springs, abundant spiritual power, and cultivation residences 50 53.

  • Scripture Repository — Holds the sect’s cultivation methods and is regarded as the foundation of Yunqing Sect 54.
  • Pill Refining Room — Refines the sect’s spirit pills and medicines; it is linked to the Herbal Scripture Room 54.
  • Herbal Scripture Room — Collects the herbs used by the Pill Refining Room 54.

  • Yunqing City and Black Market — The city’s black market can provide rare goods, including copies of major cultivation scriptures at extreme prices 154.
  • Toad Palace Mountain — Contains a fortuitous cave left behind by a deceased Yunqing Sect powerhouse 124.
  • Yunyang Peak — One of the sect’s two main peaks; by a later period, it had visibly declined without protection from the sect’s sacred artifact 163.

Recruitment and Discipline

Yunqing Sect conducts large-scale recruitment once every three years. Outside that period, prospective disciples normally need a recommendation from an existing disciple before they can attempt the entrance assessment 50.

  • Recommendations enabled Qin Yang to participate in the assessment after Tan Yurou and her senior sisters vouched for him 50.
  • Ye Zishuang’s token was decisive in Qin Yang’s successful admission despite his Qi Refining Ninth Layer cultivation 53.
  • The assessment system can favor personal connections, wealth, appearance, gender, and family ties; even applicants without Spirit Roots may enter as outer disciples through such advantages 51.
  • The sect holds yearly disciple assessments. Defeat can result in severe punishment or expulsion, while success improves a disciple’s standing 53.
  • Qin Yang was permitted to study Calm Cloud Swordplay immediately upon joining because he already possessed Qi Refining Ninth Layer cultivation, bypassing the usual one-month probationary period 53.

Techniques and Formations

Calm Cloud Swordplay

A core Yunqing Sect sword art issued to new disciples upon entry. It is also used by elders such as Ye Zishuang in battle 53 183.

  • Qin Yang obtained and practiced the art before formally joining the sect, then received an official manual from Ye Zishuang after admission 30 53.
  • The technique can produce powerful sword qi capable of cutting through stone and engaging evil cultivators 92 125.
  • Ye Zishuang used it at a profound level during the Phantom Sect’s attack, exhausting her vital blood in a desperate defense 183.

True Martial Qi Infusion Method

A High-grade Spirit technique of Yunqing Sect 40.

  • Tan Yurou considered possession of the technique evidence that Qin Yang had at least inner-disciple standing 40.
  • Qin Yang improved his understanding of the method through cultivation discussions with Tan Yurou 40.

Cloud Sea Returning Sect Sword Scripture

An extremely restricted Yunqing Sect secret art accessible only to the sect’s most core disciples 186.

  • The scripture carried the lingering obsession of True Person Yunyang, a former Yunqing Sect powerhouse 162.
  • Its existence and Qin Yang’s mastery of it surprised Yunqing Sect figures, as no known core disciple had cultivated it to such a level 186.

Golden Core Dao Formation Scripture

A major Core Formation method controlled by Yunqing Sect 154.

  • It is reserved for first-generation disciples who have rendered exceptional service to the sect 154.
  • Its scarcity made it an important reason for Qin Yang to repeatedly seek entry into Yunqing Sect 152 154.

Cloud Sun Sword Formation

Yunqing Sect’s premier High-grade Spirit sword formation, designed to seal areas and annihilate evil cultivators 41.

  • Requires nine Qi Refining Ninth Layer disciples, formation flags, and years of coordinated practice to fully master 41.
  • Generates dense sword qi and turns its enclosed space into a deadly forbidden zone 41.
  • Ye Zishuang used it to split open Xuan Chengzi’s cave dwelling and rescue captives 41.
  • The sect later deployed a super-large version around White Bone Ridge, using its disciples to channel spiritual power into a formation diagram spanning roughly twenty miles 165 167.
  • Fu Ming could command the completed formation with his Yunyang Sword Intent, concentrating its power into a devastating sword strike 167.

History

Rescue Missions and Xuan Chengzi’s Cave

Yunqing Sect disciples first appear in Xiabai Town, where Ye Cheng identifies himself and his companions as righteous-path disciples who would not ignore a victim of evil cultivators 8. Qin Yang subsequently sought their aid against Xuan Chengzi’s demonic cave.

A later rescue party led by Zhao Ling, Xu Qing, and Fang Xinyun was overwhelmed by Xuan Chengzi, a Foundation Establishment Realm evil cultivator. His Heavenly Yin Blood Sucking Technique drained their blood qi, sealed their cultivation, and led to their capture; Xu Qing was killed during interrogation in that sequence 27 28.

After receiving warning of Tan Yurou’s capture, Ninth Elder Ye Zishuang personally led nine Qi Refining Ninth Layer disciples to surround the cave. Rather than storming it, she established the Cloud Sun Sword Formation to prevent escape and destroy the stronghold safely 41.

Qin Yang’s Admission

After being rescued by Qin Yang in multiple reset timelines, Tan Yurou and her senior sisters recommended him for Yunqing Sect entry 50 77. Through Tan Yurou’s connection to Ye Zishuang and the elder’s token, Qin Yang became Ye Zishuang’s disciple and gained access to Yunqing Sect’s cultivation resources 53 77.

Qin Yang’s motivations for joining included finding a way to overcome his Foundation Establishment bottleneck, resolve the Soul Locking Pill’s poison, and investigate Spirit Pearls and Spirit Lotus Root 46 76.

Conflict with Suspected Evil Cultivators

Yunqing Sect’s vigilance toward evil cultivators sometimes turned against Qin Yang. A team of five Foundation Establishment Fourth Layer cultivators and nine third-generation disciples attacked his cave dwelling with the Cloud Sun Sword Formation after concluding that he had harmed Yunqing Sect disciples 98.

Ye Zishuang later led another attempt to capture or kill Qin Yang, believing him to be an evil cultivator despite his past assistance to Tan Yurou 105.

White Bone Ridge Expedition

Under Fu Ming’s order, Yunqing Sect mobilized its elders and approximately two to three thousand disciples to White Bone Ridge. Its goals were to retrieve the remains of an old Yunqing Sect senior and eliminate gathered Phantom Sect evil cultivators 165.

The sect waited for the descent of the Evil God’s Blessing before activating its super-large Cloud Sun Sword Formation around White Bone Ridge. Fu Ming then used the formation to destroy the great burial pit and kill many Phantom Sect cultivators 166 167.

During the ensuing battle, Yunqing Sect disciples were surrounded by Phantom Sect forces. Qin Yang created an opening for their retreat and later killed two Phantom Sect elders threatening Ye Zishuang and her disciples 169.

Decline and Calamity

According to True Person Yunyang, Yunqing Sect lost its most important sacred artifact during the Evil Spirit Uprising. Without it, the sect’s fortune and the local spiritual energy declined sharply 163.

After the White Bone Ridge operation, an item blessed by the Evil God erupted with power and severely injured both Fu Ming and the Sect Master. The Phantom Sect exploited this opening to launch a devastating surprise assault 184.

The sect was left in ruins, with many disciples and elders killed. Ye Zishuang’s own disciples, including Zhao Ling and Tan Yurou, were believed slain during the attack in that timeline 183 184.
