Tan Yurou is a newly inducted, fourth-generation disciple of the Yunqing Sect who had joined less than a month earlier. She possesses a High-grade Earth-Wood Dual Spirit Root and comes from the influential Tan family; Ye Zishuang considers her the most talented among the sect’s fourth-generation disciples. 25 36 40 104

While descending the mountain in search of an Earth Spirit Pearl rather than accompanying her senior sisters, she is captured by Lu Xun and Chang Er and taken to Xuan Chengzi’s cave dwelling. In one early iteration, her senior sisters attempt a rescue without reinforcements and are killed by a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator, leaving Yurou devastated and blaming herself for their deaths. 26 30

During her captivity, she forms an uneasy alliance with Qin Yang.
