Background / History
The Internet first manifests through Mithril Rings and a prayer-based divine art. Early users receive a phantom-scroll interface with a Library divided into Magic, Divine Arts, Battle Qi, and Other, allowing even marginalized people such as Justin to access foundational cultivation knowledge. 3
Its low barrier to entry makes suppression difficult: the divine art itself consumes Soul Power rather than directly granting strength, but it lets users acquire legitimate magical and martial knowledge. The Kevil Empire's attempted restriction therefore risks driving widespread secret study among commoners. 9
Following an agreement with the Kevil Empire, the Internet is officially propagated across the empire. Its adoption rapidly becomes self-sustaining, spreading through streets and villages faster than local officials can implement their planned outreach measures. 19 21
The platform later expands beyond Kevil and becomes a multiversal force. Its influence prompts the God of Death to create the rival Dark Web, which copies many Internet functions but struggles against the Internet's established content, user base, Internet Coins, and later soul-login capability. 147 149 154 159 256
Interface and Access
The Internet originally appears as a phantom scroll or virtual screen. 3 19
- It can be summoned through prayer. 9 10
- Access consumes the user's Soul Power. 9
- Users can add one another as friends and communicate across distances. 10
- The interface later gains customizable themes, styles, backgrounds, and user-selected avatars. 74
- A soul-login mode allows content to be projected directly into the user's soul, making use more discreet. 159
- The Internet operates as a local area network in Dorphy City at one point: local users retain functionality but cannot view Kevil forums or contact Kevil players. 66
Functions
Library and Online Learning
The Library provides structured knowledge in magic, divine arts, Battle Qi, and other subjects. Its early catalog includes magical fundamentals and basic meditation methods. 3
- Makes cultivation and magical learning available outside traditional academies. 7 9
- Supports literacy, education, and practical skill-sharing among commoners. 5 19
- Includes paid magic public lectures, which are later made free during promotional campaigns. 256
Forum, Social, and Q&A Community
The Forum becomes the Internet's early social core, hosting adventure stories, cultivation discussion, magical debates, and user-created content. 3 5 7
- Users form friendships through the platform and arrange future meetings. 10
- Forums are later divided into sub-forums as the user base grows beyond ten million, with more than six million concurrent users. 25
- The Q&A Community develops into a major discussion venue whose rankings and trending questions shape public attention. 151 166
- The platform uses targeted recommendations based on user interests and browsing behavior. 151
- A proposed “Nearby People” feature is based on Internet Social. 338
Conquest of Sub-Plane
Conquest of Sub-Plane is a virtual-reality function in which users control puppets in other planes. 58 59
- Players can enter the Dofi Plane through Elemental Puppets, initially including Mud Golem bodies. 58 59
- Puppet bodies possess visible attribute panels, including height, weight, magic power, health, money, and Merit Points. 59
- Players can undertake quests for Merit Points and choose between lower-risk and higher-reward objectives. 59
- The game gains transformation options for puppet appearance and abilities. 62
- Cross-border purchases allow users to exchange gold for Top-Up Points and acquire higher-tier golems and weapons. 64
- A Faction System is designed around player guilds and mercenary corps to form an Internet-mediated national mercenary force. 166
- The function later opens to all users with an Undead Race option during the conflict against the God of Death's followers. 254
Images, Video, and Live Streaming
The Internet transitions from a text-focused platform to an image-capable “3G” era when Yu Sheng'an produces a colored image through the authority of light. 72
- Photo and video functions are later launched together, intensifying competition with the Dark Web. 180
- Live streams support audience comments, homepage recommendations, gifts, and crowdfunding. 259 341 342
- Justin's Get-Rich Guild uses a live stream to attract more than 200 million viewers and crowdfund a Demigod Demon during a battle with an Undead Dragon. 259
Banking and Currency
The Internet supports an economy centered on Internet Coins, which become widely trusted as a multiversal hard currency. 256
- The Internet Bank enables savings and interest, influencing even elites in rival missionary zones. 151
- The Mana Bank launches later, causing a sensation in the Kevil Divine Kingdom and the Multiverse. 234
- The Internet subsequently launches a Soul Power Bank, waiving handling fees and offering Mana Bank fee reductions tied to savings thresholds. 244 245
- Life Interlink Insurance can be used to restore lost body parts, as when Walpole's wife regrows their son's bitten-off finger. 312
News and Public Opinion
The Internet disseminates news without requiring traditional newspaper subscriptions and can rapidly spread information across the Multiverse. 201
- Internet News becomes a key source of war reporting when rival networks omit relevant events. 349
- The platform is used for public-opinion campaigns, including attacks on the God of Transformation. 356
- Internet News coverage can be driven by public demand amid the information explosion created by the platform. 401
- The Empire Official Website provides governance information, complaint channels, and direct communication between grassroots users and the Magic Gods. 19
Interconnected Map
The Interconnected Map provides detailed real-time mapping, positioning, and navigation. 371
- Offers Natural, Road Network, and Panoramic modes. 371
- Displays a user's location with precise positioning and supports auto-navigation. 371
- Helps merchants and travelers navigate regions such as the Oli Great Forest, where privately sold maps may be fraudulent. 370 371
Internet Home
Internet Home introduces virtual domestic appliances and environments. 342
- Includes a Washing Machine capable of cleaning and drying clothing. 342
- Its appliances have the potential to reduce heavy domestic labor and disrupt traditional livelihoods. 342
Internet Shopping and Logistics
Internet Shopping connects users to specialty stores and supports growing demand for Internet Logistics. 427 428
- Same-city Shopping subsections improve local purchasing convenience and price transparency. 427
- The “World of Dragons” store sells rare dragon materials and sells out within ten minutes of opening. 428
- Internet Logistics expands into other planes through road-building and distribution efforts. 428
Impact
- The Internet weakens academies', nobles', and traditional authorities' monopoly over knowledge by making magical instruction broadly accessible. 7 19
- It gives isolated users access to social connection, current affairs, and shared experiences; Lucia credits it with making life in her isolated castle meaningful. 8
- Commoners use its illumination function as a practical light source, including villagers guiding lost hunters home. 25 49
- Its expansion contributes to literacy schools, broader education, government transparency, and new paths of social advancement. 19
- The network's cultural and economic reach makes it difficult to eradicate: it has no physical cathedral or fixed form, and users continue seeking its functions even under religious or political pressure. 147
- Its popularity creates drawbacks as well, including distraction in classrooms and workplaces. 201 62
Rivalry with the Dark Web
The Dark Web is created by the God of Death as a direct imitation and competitor to the Internet. It copies functions including Social, Forum, Library, and banking, while introducing undead-avatar gameplay and initially offering more discreet soul-based access. 149 151 154
- The Internet answers the Dark Web's secrecy advantage with soul login mode. 158 159
- Its Privacy Treaty uses contractual authority to promise that the God of the Internet will not monitor users or pry into their private information. 154 159
- In Kevil, the Dark Web's share falls to single digits after the Internet's soul-login update and coordinated ideological opposition. 159
- The Dark Web continues to copy Internet and rival-network functions, including Divine Food and Dark Garment. 402
