Background / History

Arrival in the Star River

The Human Race originated outside the present galaxy. Their original universe became unsuitable for ordinary survival amid a conflict between Daluo and the ominous, after which Daluo brought humanity into the current star river and bound the galaxy to a reincarnation cycle while awaiting a “Calamity Ending Person.” 406 419

Despite being constrained by the galaxy, humanity grew at an abnormal rate. Other races recorded that the Human Race rose from weak beings unable to cultivate into a major civilization within only a few thousand years, while the fortune of the entire galaxy gathered around them. 416 417

First Interstellar Era

When humanity first attempted interstellar colonization roughly three thousand years earlier, its technology and biochemical weapons proved ineffective against powerful alien races. Humans were sealed within the Solar System, hunted, enslaved, and treated as livestock or blood food. 14 22

At humanity's lowest point, nine figures appeared and defeated the races pursuing the Federation in a star-spanning war. They left behind Martial Dao inheritances that enabled humans to surpass their natural life limits; later generations remembered them as the Martial Gods. 22

The nine figures disappeared after securing humanity's rise. Their appearances and voices could not be preserved: anyone attempting to recreate their likeness would forget it, leaving their deeds and inheritances as humanity's primary record of them. 22

Rise of the Federation

Martial Dao spread throughout the Federation after the First Martial God discovered its value. Alongside Gene Warriors and Mechanical Modification, it became one of the Federation's three primary development paths. 14

In the present era, the Human Race is publicly recognized as a high-level civilization. Its known strength only barely meets the threshold for that status, although its concealed power is believed to be greater than official figures indicate. 364

Humanity's current generation, known as the Age of Pride, is regarded as unusually dangerous by other races. The Seven Great Alliances fear that, if these young geniuses mature, humanity could dominate the starry sky for millions of years. 234

The Reincarnation Cycle

The Human Race is Daluo's anchor within the galaxy. Boundary Light claims that humanity's continued existence prevents the galaxy from escaping reincarnation, making the race central to his plan to erase the concept of humanity. 419 448

Human contenders have reached the end of the True King Contention in previous cycles. Their remains persist beyond reincarnation, leaving warnings ranging from calls to seek godhood to pleas for later humans to turn back. 409 415

During the final cycle, Boundary Light deliberately spares humanity while the myriad races are annihilated. The surviving humans are drawn toward the Karma Tree and begin suffering widespread bodily mutations. 460

Innate Shackles

Humans possess no natural method of raising their life level and must rely on acquired Martial Dao cultivation. Compared with other races, they face stricter limits on cultivation, lifespan, and breakthroughs. 387 406

Mind Cultivation

The Human Race's weak mind talent led to the neglect of Mind Cultivation after the Martial Gods' departure. The Eastern Emperor later repaired and expanded the human mind system, opening Mind Sacred Realms and leaving a path for future practitioners. 443

The Sacred Realm stabilizes human Mind Cultivation, but it also functions as an invisible shackle on human mind spirits. The Eastern Emperor repeatedly challenged the Other Shore to loosen those restraints, burning away most of his ten-thousand-year lifespan. 444

Society and Culture

Martial Gods and the Ten Heavens

The Martial Gods are humanity's most revered historical figures. Their deeds remain central to human identity even though their names, faces, and voices have largely vanished from history. 22 379

The Martial Dao Ten Heavens succeeded the Martial Gods as pillars of the Human Race. They have pursued multiple paths to godhood because humanity believes that surviving the return of the gods requires obtaining divine-level power of its own. 370 371

The Starry Sky Great Wall protects the Ancestral Star by preventing most Beasts from entering. Su Tu theorizes that this protection also allows infiltrating Beasts to temper and transform the local Human Race. 121

Combat Customs

During humanity's early conflicts with races capable of revival, human warriors learned to burn enemy corpses to ash rather than assume decapitation ensured death. 405

The custom later fell out of common use as humanity grew stronger, but Human Race prodigies revived it during the True King Contention to reinforce their shared identity and resolve. 405
