Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mountain Sea Realm Initial Stage | 665 | A successful breakthrough opens the first Divine Palace, where the transformed Divine Soul resides. The cultivator also awakens a Talent. |
| Mountain Sea Realm Mid Stage | 665 731 | Reached upon opening four Divine Palaces. After entering this stage, the first three Divine Palaces can link into an internal array, greatly amplifying elemental-energy output. |
| Mountain Sea Realm Late Stage | 665 | Reached upon opening seven Divine Palaces. |
| Mountain Sea Realm Peak | 665 685 | Reached upon opening all nine Divine Palaces. Mastering four Talents is considered essential for stabilizing the Divine Palaces and overcoming the Void Barrier. |
Cultivation System
Divine Palaces
Mountain Sea Realm cultivation centers on the Divine Soul rather than solely on Essence, Qi, and Spirit. A transformed Divine Soul occupies Divine Palaces opened within the body; opening all nine is the path to the realm’s peak. 665
The breakthrough itself is dangerous because Heaven and Earth Essence Qi provides only a brief opportunity for the Divine Soul to transform. A stronger physique can extend that opportunity and improve the chance of success. 656
Talents
At the moment of breakthrough, a cultivator may enter a special void connected to the world and draw back a Talent into their Divine Palace. The selection depends on the cultivator’s foundation, body, and previously cultivated techniques. 665 681
- Talents nearer the entrance of the void are generally more basic, such as self-healing, strength, or agility. 681
- More specialized and powerful Talents lie deeper in the void, but require greater Divine Soul strength to reach and retrieve. 681
- A Mountain Sea Realm cultivator may have only one Talent for their entire life, making the initial choice especially significant. 665
- At the Mid Stage, a cultivator may attempt to enter the void again and seek another Talent, though this is described as almost impossible in ordinary circumstances. 665
- Talent mastery is as important as talent quality: insufficient comprehension can prevent a cultivator from crossing the Void Barrier even with strong Essence, Qi, and Divine Soul cultivation. 685
Cultivation Methods and Limits
The orthodox path of Mountain Sea Realm cultivation is to refine Heaven and Earth Essence Qi, consume Natural Material Treasures, and steadily nourish one’s Essence, Qi, and Divine Soul. It is stable but extremely slow. 665
- Advancing by a single Divine Palace commonly takes decades; many cultivators cannot achieve that progress even after more than a century. 701
- The Heavenly Rain Flower can aid Initial- and Mid-Stage cultivators, but has little effect on Late-Stage Mountain Sea Realm experts. 701
- Techniques below the Mountain Sea Realm can be powered by Divine Soul Power, but their limited capacity prevents them from fully expressing Mountain Sea Realm strength. 685 688
- Technique comprehension is a major determinant of combat strength among Mountain Sea Realm cultivators. 841
Position in the Martial World
Ancient records in Immortal Cloud City contained only scattered references to the Mountain Sea Realm. The Immortal Cloud Sword Sect had never produced a cultivator at this level and possessed little knowledge of its methods of cultivation. 327
Mountain Sea Realm cultivation methods are tightly controlled. In the Thousand Feather Alliance, the three Mountain Sea Realm experts did not share their methods with Aperture Unification Realm cultivators, who ordinarily could not cultivate them anyway. 583
In Qian Yan City, four Mountain Sea Realm experts jointly held the highest position. Any Qian Yan Mountain Range sect that produced such an expert could enter the city and share resources within ten thousand li; a sect that lost its Mountain Sea Realm lineage would withdraw and rebuild its foundation outside the city. 663 674
Transition to the Sun Moon Realm
The Mountain Sea Realm has a defined upper limit. At the peak, one recorded route to the Sun Moon Realm is to use a Talent as the foundation of a Divine Ability Seed and fuse the cultivator’s remaining Talents into it. 853 859
This method is dangerous: if the breakthrough fails after the Talents are consumed, the Divine Palaces can collapse because they have lost the Talents that stabilized them. 853
Story Role / Major Arcs
- The realm is first introduced through rumors of the Endless Sea, where cultivators stronger than the Aperture Unification Realm were said to exist. 326
- Chen Fei’s first direct encounter with a Mountain Sea Realm cultivator leaves him unable to clearly perceive the expert’s face or form, demonstrating the qualitative gap between the two realms. 521
- A Mountain Sea Realm expert effortlessly disperses a Tier 4 Strange Entity’s black fog and takes its shattered Spirit Treasure. 521 522
- Fallen Sky Pavilion is suspected of raising Weird and using the inhabitants of a Strange Realm as nourishment to create a Mountain Sea Realm cultivator. 631
- Chen Fei first reaches the Mountain Sea Realm in physique alone after refining Ku Rong’s spiritual essence, increasing his strength and recovery but not yet completing a full martial-realm breakthrough. 656
- Chen Fei completes his true breakthrough by choosing the Talent Suppress Territory, then defeats and kills the Mountain Sea Realm cultivators Wu Renxu and Zhang Chaoyun after they attack the Yuan Chen Sword Sect. 681 683 684
- Chen Fei later reaches the Mountain Sea Realm Peak by linking nine Divine Palaces, surpassing most cultivators of the same realm in combat strength. 843 865
