Background

Ultraman is Earth-3's counterpart to Superman. Unlike his main-universe counterpart, he fears sunlight and obtains power from Kryptonite. He blocked sunlight from Metropolis and used his strength to pursue selfish rule rather than protect others. 406

Although nominally the Crime Syndicate's leader, its internal affairs were effectively directed by Night Owl through planning and violence. Ultraman's physical power nevertheless made him the Syndicate's most feared member. 408

Kara revealed the miniature sun within her Nth Metal armor, exposing Ultraman to solar radiation. His powers failed, and his arrogance gave way to panic as he pleaded for his life. 406

Defeat and Replacement

Ultraman attempted to use Kryptonite against Kara, believing she shared his weakness. Her armor had been designed to resist Kryptonite, allowing her to overpower him and inject him with black liquid. Ultraman's body became ethereal and disappeared, with Kino emerging in his place. 407
