History
Founding and early development
The institute’s Confinement Building was planned by its first Dean and constructed with the Administrative Building Committee’s support. Its purpose was to contain dangerous lifeforms for research rather than execute them; its creation required approval from the Britain Empire, Arctic Nations, Marei Empire, and Divine Kingdom. 798
Research conducted through the Confinement Building led to the creation of the Ghost Bead, a control crystal capable of containing Ghost Creature Cores. The discovery was classified as top secret and transformed Dihua’s educational system within five years. 798
Original academy era
Dihua operated as the Chana Empire’s foremost Ability Institute and was regarded as one of the world’s top three institutions. Its training methods were largely confidential, while admission was associated with exceptional talent and survival through demanding physical training. 71 478
Yu Jing entered as a Gene Academy disciple after passing physical training and became an officially recognized disciple on September 11, 2139. 71 176
Masked takeover and reforms
Communication with normal disciples, administrators, and commissioners was cut off during the institute’s internal crisis, while Dean Shen Tu went missing. 1077 The Masked subsequently assumed the Dean position after presenting approval from special commissioners, disciple representatives, and the Central Council. 1083
The new administration enacted reforms affecting commissioner titles, disciple management, the points system, underground construction, and the formation of a Ninth Department. 1083 The Monster Academy was then established as the Ninth Department, with You Chi as its Dean. 1089
Within one month, Dihua became the World Hub. A super-high-speed underground maglev network connected it to major global powers, while the underground Demonic City became a commercial, industrial, entertainment, and auction center. 1101
The Divine Kingdom Divine Academy was later merged into Dihua as the Old World Academy, temporarily based on an island in the North District. 1470
Campus
Dihua covers approximately 12,800 square kilometers and is divided into the East, South, West, North, and Central districts. 52
| District | Major facilities and functions |
|---|---|
| East District | Contains the Crater Area, Medical School, affiliated hospital, Dihua Ability Institute Stadium, and Physical Training Academy facilities. 49 52 |
| South District | Contains disciple dormitories, the Disciple Cafeteria, and the Degenerate Zone. 52 |
| West District | Known as the Cultivation Zone; houses the Gene, Chemistry, Mechanical, Language, Arts, and Art School academies, plus the Main Teaching Building. 52 |
| North District | Contains the Confinement Building complex and later the temporarily relocated Old World Academy. 52 799 1470 |
| Central District | Contains the Central Administration Building and Grand Library. 52 |
East District
The Medical School is located around the Crater Area and its affiliated hospital. Although ranked fifth among the original departments by overall strength, it is considered Dihua’s most authoritative academy; its annual enrollment is only one-quarter that of other academies, and its disciples are valued for improving mission survival rates. 52
The Dihua Ability Institute Stadium seats 100,000 people and can be reconfigured into arenas for competitions and sparring. The nearby Physical Training Academy trains disciples to surpass normal human physical limits. 52
South District
Dormitory assignments range from luxurious two-person suites to twelve-person rooms. Housing is reassessed annually through Ability-test performance, and disciples may trade accommodations for points. 52
The Disciple Cafeteria employs renowned chefs and offers increasingly expensive meal tiers. The nearby Degenerate Zone provides high-end entertainment services intended to encourage point consumption and disciple advancement. 52
Central District
The Central Administration Building is Dihua’s principal administrative authority. It formulates policies, recruitment procedures, dormitory management, and training-mission assignments; it also houses elite combat power for extraordinary disasters. 52 184
The building is an eighteen-story hexagram-shaped structure with six entrances and an area comparable to a small town. Internal magnetic-levitation trains allow travel through its corridors. 184
The Grand Library is built within a mountain in the Central District. It charges disciples points for entry, time spent inside, and access to books of different levels; its collection is reputed to rapidly improve a disciple’s abilities. 52 232
Academies and departments
The institute originally consisted of eight major academies, represented at the freshman opening ceremony. 70
| Academy / Department | Specialty or noted function |
|---|---|
| Arts Academy | Originally ranked first in comprehensive strength; associated with cultivator links through Dean Huangfu Yunhai. 1080 1081 |
| Mechanical Academy | Oversees advanced mechanical systems; Fang Tianhe served as the institute’s Network Brain and its dean. 1004 1080 |
| Physical Training Academy | Cultivates physical ability users and bodily refinement. 52 |
| Chemistry Academy | Conducts chemistry and alchemy research; its underground alchemy area was controlled by Dean Aifeisi Ruo. 52 1081 |
| Medical School | Provides professional medical education through the affiliated hospital and maintains selective enrollment. 49 52 |
| Art School | Focuses on mental cultivation; disciples are required to meditate daily when not on missions or leave. 52 1150 |
| Language Academy | Later became heavily associated with yin energy and the Yin Gathering Great Locus. 52 1684 |
| Gene Academy | Yu Jing’s academy; ranked eighth in the original comprehensive-strength list. 176 1080 |
| Monster Academy | Ninth Department formed under Masked’s reforms; led by You Chi and tied to the Confinement Building administration. 1089 1128 |
| Old World Academy | Formed from the merger of the Divine Kingdom Divine Academy; intended for rational demons. 1470 1666 |
Administration
Deans and commissioners
The Di Hua Commissioner Grand Conference is held every three years and is the institute’s highest meeting for commissioners. It reviews research, world contributions, disciple management, internal reforms, and departmental agendas. 1080
Commissioners who fail to attend without a valid death notice or joint approval from the Dean and Central Council can be expelled. The conference can also strip commissioners, administrative personnel, vice deans, and directors of their identities for poor performance or insufficient contributions. 1080
The original Eight Great Deans were regarded as Dihua’s supreme combat power. A dean requires research achievements, superior strength within their department, at least three world-class combat honors, and five national-level honors. 1080
Central Council
The hidden Central Council consists of 108 members whose true identities are not publicly known. All 108 appeared during only the institute’s founding, the global war triggered by Masked, and a later interrogation of the Masked Dean. 1752 1797
Disciple systems
Points and accommodation
Points function as Dihua’s internal currency; money has no practical value on campus. They are used for food, transportation, library access, and other institute services. 52 55
- Dormitory quality is linked to physical-training and Ability-test evaluations. 52
- High-end cafeteria meals and Degenerate Zone services require substantial point expenditures. 52
- The Grand Library deducts points for entry, time, and reading material. 52
Academy uniforms and identity cards
Academy uniforms monitor disciples’ physical information in real time. Yu Jing received a modified uniform that would identify the plant in his arm as the fabricated ability “Ivy.” 55
Dihua’s point cards were later replaced with redesigned Ability Institute Cards. The new cards had disabled storage functions and required on-campus activation for their additional functions. 1078
A basic external access pass is the Dihua Ability Institute Common Emblem, marked with the character “Emperor” and imagery of the Central Administration Building and a mask. 1884
Recruitment and assessments
Under Masked’s new recruitment policy, applicants had to be between fifteen and twenty-five years old and pass Dihua’s junior social competition. The former family-based recommendation system was abolished. 1638
New disciples were assessed by fighting one of the Ten Prodigies in a horror-movie world. During the first intake under this system, more than 1,300 applicants participated and 800 passed. 1638
Security and containment
Confinement Building
The Confinement Building, also called the Black Coffin, is an inverted-coffin-shaped black structure in the North District. It holds dangerous lifeforms and anomalous individuals; the highest levels contain the most dangerous entities and are forbidden to outsiders. 799
The containment complex includes three principal areas:
- Normal Containment Facility — lower-level containment area. 799
- Advanced Containment Facility — higher-security containment area. 799
- Black Coffin — main confinement structure for world-threatening entities. 799
Access to the system requires simultaneous authorization from the central political group and all Confinement Building administrators. Ten emergency voting authorities are entrusted to each generation’s Ten Prodigies. 798
The North District’s confinement barrier was lifted during the institute’s takeover, releasing dangerous contained lifeforms. 1079
Defensive systems
Dean Tianyi’s mental barrier once prevented satellite and advanced reconnaissance detection of the institute and immediately reported attempted intrusions. 1082
Fang Tianhe managed Dihua’s network security as the institute’s Network Brain. His rebellion caused the network to crash, coinciding with the failure of Tianyi’s defensive barrier. 1004 1082
Dihua possesses hyper-realistic combat simulation technology, available elsewhere in the Chana Empire only to the government. Its simulations can reproduce environments with less than 0.01% deviation from real conditions and may incorporate imprisoned ghost creatures for trial evaluations. 228
Ten Prodigies
The Ten Prodigies are Dihua’s foremost disciples and hold exceptional institutional influence. Their positions are continuously reassessed rather than left vacant. 1087
- Ten Prodigies hold emergency voting authority related to the Confinement Building. 798
- They serve as representatives of the institute in major competitions and international events. 1149 1167
- The Ten Prodigies Championship uses ten challenge arenas: eight held by current graduating Prodigies and two hidden in dangerous areas of the campus. 1132 1136
- Participants may select a Normal disciple as an ally during championship competition. 1133
- Yu Xiaoxiao became the Seventh Seat under the title Shadow Kill. 1531
Notable events
