By chance, the two met and worked together to thwart the scheme of Deathwing—the present identity of Neltharion, once the Earth-Warder among the fallen Chromatic Dragon Aspect—and destroyed the Dragon Soul.
Afterward, Vareesa Windrunner and the human Mage Rhonin gradually developed feelings for one another. She moved from the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas to live in Dalaran.
Dalaran could be considered a second homeland for the High Elves. Many High Elves lived in this magical city of the human kingdom, so Rilas Windrunner quickly learned of his third sister Vareesa Windrunner's current residence by asking the High Elves of Dalaran.
"Third Sister..." Rilas found Vareesa's home in Dalaran and called out when he saw Vareesa Windrunner watering flowers.
Hearing his voice, Vareesa stiffened, and the watering can slipped from her hand and fell straight to the ground.

Just as the siblings held each other tightly, Rhonin, a young human Mage with red hair, heard the watering can hit the ground and came out of the house. "Vareesa, what happened?"
"Who are you, human?" A human had walked out of his third sister's home, and instinctive disgust rose within Rilas. He fixed Rhonin with an unfriendly stare.
