Not long after the Silver Covenant was established, before they had even had the chance to fight the Orcs of the New Horde, a crisis greater than the New Horde's Orcs emerged upon the lands of the Kingdom of Lordaeron.
A heretical organization called the Cult of the Damned suddenly rose to prominence, rapidly spreading through the Kingdom of Lordaeron, where the Church of the Holy Light was the state religion. Plague began appearing across Lordaeron's lands.
A mysterious Raven Prophet began traveling to persuade people, but Terenas Menethil II, King of Lordaeron, did not heed his advice.
Arthas Menethil, Prince of Lordaeron, had just defeated the Orcs in the Hillsbrad Foothills south of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. King Terenas once again placed great hopes on him, dispatching Arthas to assist Jaina Proudmoore, representing Dalaran's Kirin Tor, in investigating the plague in the Kingdom of Lordaeron.
After their investigation, they discovered that the plague was far more complicated than they had imagined. It turned infected humans into undead.
By chance, Arthas encountered Tyrel and the other High Elves, who had also come to investigate the plague in villages near Hearthglen.
Since Hearthglen was the territory of the Fordring family and the exiled Tirion Fordring could not return there, Tyrel personally led the High Elf Paladins and Priests of the Dawnblade Legion here to investigate after learning that a plague had broken out near Hearthglen.
"Tyrel? I can't believe it. What are you doing here?" Arthas said in delighted surprise when his troops encountered Tyrel.
"Arthas, I just arrived as well. News of the plague outbreak in the Kingdom of Lordaeron has reached the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas. High Priestess Countess Liadrin and I came together to help cleanse this land of its strange curse." (High Elf Priests from the Kingdom of
