Ch. 41Forest Trolls Turn on Each Other

The Dawnblade Legion halted the Amani War Bear Knights at great cost, then let Zul'jin's Forest Trolls flee through a gap. The Forest Trolls turned on one another in their scramble to escape, but the Pathfinder Rangers arrived and helped the High Elves trap and annihilate the survivors.

  • The High Elf Paladins stopped the Amani War Bear Knights, killing most of them with their shields and lives.
  • Zul'jin ordered Naralakh to stop the charge, then led the Forest Trolls through a gap in the Dawnblade Legion's line.
  • Tyrel ordered the gap left open, and the fleeing Forest Trolls began tripping, attacking, and killing one another to reach it.
  • The Pathfinder Rangers arrived, and Tyrel ordered the Dawnblade Legion to seal the gap and trap the remaining Forest Trolls.
  • The Rangers showered the trapped Forest Trolls with arrows, and the High Elves finished off those who survived the volleys.

Ch. 42Blood Feud's Destiny

Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion through a costly battle against Forest Trolls and confronted Dakuro Warfang, a former friend who had fought against him. After killing Dakuro, Tyrel carried his body to the Amani Crypt and buried him beside Dakara Warfang.

  • Sylvanas apologized to Tyrel for failing to stop Zul'jin, while the wounded Dawnblade Legion headed back to Sunwell Citadel.
  • Tyrel's force encountered over two thousand Forest Trolls led by Dakuro Warfang, who stayed behind to cover Dakara's retreat.
  • Tyrel split his troops between protecting the wounded and fighting Dakuro's Forest Trolls, and the Dawnblade Legion won after half an hour.
  • Tyrel rejected Cain Sunfury and Rilas Windrunner's offers to handle the prisoner and killed Dakuro himself after revealing his identity.
  • Tyrel carried Dakuro's body to the Amani Crypt and buried him beside Dakara Warfang.

Ch. 43Glory and Dry Bones

Tyrel learned that command errors had contributed to the heavy High Elf losses at Pathfinder Camp, and he honored the fallen Dawnblade Legion warriors at Sunwell Citadel. After Sylvanas’s victory over the Forest Trolls, Tyrel prepared to bring his legion home to Deatholme and then to Silvermoon City for recognition.

  • Tyrel learned that Hoxbyr’s defeat and Dalkhan’s reckless pursuit had cost the High Elves many lives, and he reflected on his own mistakes in the battle.
  • Tyrel held a funeral for the fallen Dawnblade Legion Paladins, and Mylah Dawncaller led the legion in their battle cry, “In the name of sunlight!”
  • Sylvanas Windrunner returned from Zul'Aman after destroying several Forest Troll villages, while the campaign’s losses left the Forest Trolls decisively defeated.
  • Tyrel prepared to lead the Dawnblade Legion to Silvermoon City for a celebration, but first arranged to return the fallen to Deatholme for burial.
  • Tyrel ordered a monument inscribed with the names of the fallen High Elf Paladins, and Countess Liadrin reported that it would soon be completed.

Ch. 44Sylvanas's Wish

Tyrel led a thousand battle-worn Dawnblade Paladins toward Silvermoon City for a victory celebration, where Sylvanas welcomed him and praised Rilas for proving himself in battle. Rilas finally understood the burden Sylvanas had carried for their family, and Sylvanas saw a chance that he might one day become Ranger-General.

  • Tyrel left Lor'themar in charge of Deatholme and chose a thousand Dawnblade Legion soldiers to accompany him to Silvermoon City.
  • Tyrel kept the Paladins in their bloodied armor so Silvermoon's High Elves would see the cost of war and the Dawnblade Legion's accomplishments.
  • Sylvanas met Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion near Silvermoon City, and Tyrel asked after the wounded Hoxbyr, who was spending his days inhaling Bloodthistle.
  • Rilas told Sylvanas he had not disgraced the Windrunner Family, and Sylvanas praised him, saying their parents and Alleria would be proud.
  • Rilas realized why Sylvanas had been so strict, wept in her arms, and Sylvanas embraced him while seeing the possibility of him becoming Ranger-General.

Ch. 45Celebration Ceremony

Silvermoon City celebrated the Pathfinder Legion and Dawnblade Legion’s victory over Zul’jin’s Forest Trolls, and Tyrel led the Dawnblade Paladins in displaying their Holy Light to the citizens. Sun King Anasterian praised the two legions before the assembled crowd.

  • Sylvanas invited Rilas to join the Ranger-Expeditionary for the celebration, but he refused, saying the honor belonged to him, the Dawnblade Legion, and Tyrel.
  • Tyrel encouraged the nervous Dawnblade Paladins, reminding them that their glory had been earned through blood and belonged to the whole legion.
  • The battered, bloodstained Dawnblade Paladins entered Silvermoon City, where Tyrel and the others illuminated themselves with Holy Light and inspired the citizens to cheer.
  • The Pathfinder Legion and Dawnblade Legion assembled on opposite sides of Sunstrider Court as the Sunfury Legion kept order and Anasterian emerged from Sunfury Spire.
  • Anasterian announced that the two legions had annihilated a hundred thousand Forest Trolls and fought their way to Zul’Aman, then called on the crowd to cheer for their warriors.

Ch. 46Tyrel's Gift

Tyrel gave Sun King Anasterian wooden carvings of himself and Kael'thas, then agreed to spar with his father so Anasterian could assess his strength. Anasterian swiftly dodged Tyrel’s opening strike and pressed the attack.

  • Tyrel presented Sun King Anasterian with wooden statues of himself and Kael'thas carved from branches of Mother Tree Sas'aral.
  • Liandara revealed that Tyrel had secretly studied woodcarving for years to prepare the gift.
  • Sun King Anasterian asked Tyrel to demonstrate how much his strength had improved, and Tyrel agreed to spar.
  • Tyrel attacked with a head-on Crusader Strike, but Sun King Anasterian dodged and struck toward his waist.
  • Tyrel tried to evade as Sun King Anasterian closed in and thrust his longsword at him.

Ch. 47An Unimagined Path

Tyrel discovered a possible new class by combining a Warrior’s swordsmanship with Arcane Energy, and King Anasterian gathered Quel’Thalas’s greatest Warrior and Mage to test the idea. Salorian Dawngrasper demonstrated its potential by infusing Quel’delar with Arcane Energy and cutting through an enchanted training dummy.

  • Tyrel fought King Anasterian, but his father countered his attacks with superior swordsmanship and Arcane Energy.
  • King Anasterian controlled three enchanted swords at once, and Tyrel conceded after using Divine Storm to force him back.
  • King Anasterian explained that Arcane Energy could strengthen a Warrior’s attacks, prompting Tyrel to suggest creating a new class that combined arcane and swordsmanship.
  • King Anasterian summoned Salorian Dawngrasper and Biluo Hua, who agreed the idea could work for the Quel’dorei.
  • Salorian Dawngrasper infused Quel’delar with Arcane Energy and cleaved an enchanted training dummy in two.

Ch. 48Spellblade

Tyrel demonstrated how Arcane Magic could be combined with the Warrior's path, convincing King Anastarian to establish the Spellblade profession. The king entrusted Tyrel with developing it and expanding the Dawnblade Legion to thirty thousand.

  • Tyrel sparred with Saloren, combining spells, Blink, and sword attacks to fight at range and in close quarters.
  • Archmage Biluo Hua observed that Spellblades would need plate armor made from Enchanted Metal to avoid restricting their spellcasting.
  • King Anastarian named the new profession Spellblade and ordered Tyrel to train its members and expand the Dawnblade Legion to thirty thousand.
  • King Anastarian ordered Saloren to transfer talented recruits from the Sunfury Legion and Spellbreakers' reserves, while Archmage Biluo Hua offered battle Magisters.
  • Tyrel accepted the responsibility and promised his father he would not disappoint him.

Ch. 49Pillow Fight and Drunkenness

Tyrel returned to his residence and joined the High Elf Paladins in a pillow fight before the group turned the evening into a drinking party. After Tyrel passed out, Cain and Mylah left him in Valeera’s care, hoping the two might grow closer.

  • Tyrel arrived home, was hit by Valeera’s pillow, and joined her, Cain, Kaelen Sunfury, and the High Elf Paladins in a pillow fight.
  • Tyrel told Valeera to sleep in his room, prompting her to remember how he had comforted her as a child after nightmares about her parents’ deaths.
  • Kaelen Sunfury and Mylah Dawncaller rallied the High Elf Paladins to drink Sunlight Brew, and Tyrel reluctantly joined them.
  • The Paladins each offered Tyrel drinks until he passed out, and Cain and Mylah carried him to Valeera.
  • Cain told Mylah that leaving Tyrel with Valeera might help the two get together and ease the kingdom’s burdens.

Ch. 50Cain's Choice

Tyrel woke beside Valeera Sangunar and realized Cain Sunfury had set him up, then confronted Cain and proposed creating a new class that combined Arcane Magic and the Warrior path. Cain accepted the role of pioneering the Spellblade, becoming Quel'Thalas's first Spellblade.

  • Tyrel woke beside Valeera, quietly left his room, and realized Cain had arranged the situation.
  • Tyrel drenched Cain with icy water, chased him when he fled, and later stopped Cain and Rilas from fighting.
  • Tyrel proposed creating the Spellblade class and asked Cain and Rilas to pioneer it.
  • Cain and Rilas both volunteered, but Cain argued that Spellblade training could help him inherit Quel'delar and become stronger.
  • Cain was chosen as the first Spellblade of Quel'Thalas.

Ch. 51Tirion's Judgment

Tyrel learned that his mentor, Tirion Fordring, had been imprisoned for treason in Lordaeron and would soon be tried in Stratholme. Determined to save him, Tyrel sought help from Rilas Windrunner and planned to appeal to Prince Arthas.

  • Tyrel heard from a Stratholme merchant that Tirion Fordring had been imprisoned and would stand trial for befriending the Orc Eitrigg.
  • Tyrel sent Rilas Windrunner to bring the merchant to Deatholme and investigate the news.
  • Rilas told Tyrel that Nathanos Marris, trained by Ranger-General Sylvanas Windrunner, might help Tirion's case.
  • Tyrel asked Rilas to enlist Sylvanas and Nathanos, and Rilas left for Windrunner Spire and Marris Farm.
  • Tyrel decided to seek help from Arthas Menethil, whose mentor Uther Lightbringer would also take part in Tirion's judgment.

Ch. 52Alonsus Chapel

Tyrel arrived at Alonsus Chapel as Uther Lightbringer tried Tirion Fordring for treason, accused of conspiring with an Orc and attacking his own subordinates. Nathanos Marris and Gavinrad the Dire supported the possibility that Tirion had been framed, and the court waited for Tirion to respond.

  • Tyrel heard that Orcs had risen up in southern internment camps and thought of Thrall.
  • Arthas recognized Tyrel in the crowd, agreed to help him, and brought him into Alonsus Chapel.
  • Uther Lightbringer read the charges against Tirion Fordring before the jury.
  • Nathanos Marris argued that Orcs might have framed Tirion, and Gavinrad the Dire supported the claim.
  • The jury began to consider blaming the Orcs, hoping Tirion would use that explanation.

Ch. 53Sentenced to Exile

Tirion Fordring truthfully recounted his actions at trial and was exiled for attacking his subordinate, stripped of his command and Paladin powers. After the ritual, Tyrel revealed himself and took Tirion to the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas with Uther Lightbringer's permission.

  • Tirion Fordring recalled his promise to judge people by their conduct and gave the jury an objective account of his encounter with Eitrigg.
  • Uther Lightbringer and the jury cleared Tirion of treason but stripped him of his command, expelled him from the Silver Hand, and sentenced him to exile for attacking Balthasar.
  • Uther Lightbringer performed the painful ritual to remove the Holy Light from Tirion, while Tyrel watched in distress.
  • Tyrel rushed to support Tirion after he collapsed, and Arthas blocked Uther's attack on Tyrel.
  • Tyrel revealed his true identity and asked to take his exiled mentor to Quel'Thalas, and Uther allowed them to leave.

Ch. 54Terenas's Plan

Terenas Menethil II arranged for Arthas and Tyrel to meet so he could secure Quel'Thalas's friendship and financial support for Lordaeron. As Tyrel, Arthas, and Tirion left Stratholme, Mayor Balthasar secretly hired the Assassin's Alliance to prevent Tirion from reaching Quel'Thalas.

  • Balthasar hired the Assassin's Alliance to keep Tirion Fordring in Lordaeron and stop him from reaching Quel'Thalas.
  • Tyrel thanked Arthas for helping the group leave Stratholme, and Arthas reflected on his father's plan to bring them together.
  • Terenas had arranged for Arthas and Tyrel to meet and visit Durnholde Castle, hoping Quel'Thalas would help fund the Orc internment camps.
  • Terenas's plan aimed to secure Quel'Thalas's lasting friendship and support while strengthening Arthas's future rule over Lordaeron.

Ch. 55All Warfare Is Based on Deception

After Nathanos Marris and Rilas Windrunner helped Tyrel and Tirion Fordring escape an assassination attempt, they learned that Tirion’s Orc friend Eitrigg had been sentenced to execution. Tirion vowed to rescue him, and Tyrel proposed secretly returning to Stratholme under the cover of having already left.

  • Valeera Sangunar rebuked Tyrel for failing to notice the Rogues following him, while Rilas explained that Nathanos and he had eliminated the Assassin's Alliance's elite assassins in an ambush.
  • Tyrel thanked Nathanos Marris for helping them, but Nathanos said he had acted for Sylvanas's brother, not for Tyrel.
  • Nathanos told Tirion Fordring that Eitrigg had been sentenced to execution in Stratholme the next day.
  • Tirion insisted on rescuing Eitrigg despite having lost the Holy Light, and Tyrel agreed to help him.
  • Tyrel proposed pretending they had returned to Quel'Thalas, then infiltrating Stratholme to rescue Eitrigg; Nathanos approved the plan.

Ch. 56Rescue Eitrigg

Tirion Fordring rescued Eitrigg from execution in Stratholme, where a surprise Orc assault helped them escape. In the forest, Tirion’s faith brought forth immense Holy Light that completely healed Eitrigg.

  • Stratholme’s citizens gathered to watch Balthasar prepare to execute the battered Eitrigg.
  • Explosions disrupted the execution, and Tirion Fordring stormed the gallows, knocked Balthasar aside, and rescued Eitrigg.
  • Orcs attacked Stratholme’s infantry, and Tirion escaped into the surrounding woods with Eitrigg.
  • Tyrel and the others found Tirion trying to heal the dying Eitrigg, but their healing efforts initially failed.
  • Tirion prayed for the Holy Light, which descended in overwhelming power and healed Eitrigg’s wounds completely.

Ch. 57Farewell, Thrall

Thrall arrived with the Orcs, revealed himself as the new Great Chieftain, and explained that he sought a homeland rather than war with the Alliance. Eitrigg rejoined the Horde, while Tirion followed Tyrel into Quel'Thalas, leaving a letter for Taelan behind.

  • Thrall and his Orcs met Tyrel and the others, and Thrall recognized Tyrel from their earlier encounter at Durnholde Castle.
  • Thrall introduced himself to Eitrigg as the new Great Chieftain and told Tirion that he wanted to find a homeland for the Orcs instead of renewing the war.
  • Eitrigg returned to Thrall's Horde, and Thrall saluted Tirion and thanked Tyrel before departing.
  • Tirion gave Nathanos a letter for Taelan and traveled with Tyrel toward Quel'Thalas.
  • Mylah Dawnblade and the High Elf Paladins welcomed Tirion at the border, and Tirion entered Quel'Thalas after looking back at Lordaeron.

Ch. 58Lirath's Unannounced Departure

Tirion Fordring admired Deatholme and urged Tyrel to address Lirath Windrunner’s hatred of the Orcs. Unable to persuade Lirath to put Quel’Thalas’s interests first, Tyrel watched him leave the kingdom to seek vengeance, while Valeera stayed to support Tyrel.

  • Tirion Fordring admired Deatholme and warned Tyrel that Lirath Windrunner still hated the Orcs.
  • Tyrel found Lirath training and explained why he had stopped the earlier conflict with the Orcs.
  • Lirath asked to pursue vengeance, but Tyrel refused to support a private campaign while serving Quel’Thalas.
  • Tyrel sent Lor'themar Theron to fetch Sylvanas Windrunner, but Lirath left Quel’Thalas with only his bow and two letters.
  • Tyrel shut himself inside his estate, and Valeera reassured him that she would stay by his side.

Ch. 59Establishment of the Silver Covenant

Rilas Windrunner reunited with Vareesa in Dalaran and asked her to help him take revenge on the Orcs and the Horde. They agreed to establish the Silver Covenant, while Vareesa offered to rally Dalaran's High Elves and directed Rilas to seek support in the Hinterlands.

  • Rilas found Vareesa in Dalaran, where she introduced him to Rhonin, her human Mage companion.
  • Vareesa welcomed Rilas into her home, and he learned that she seemed settled in Dalaran with Rhonin.
  • Rilas told Vareesa that Sylvanas was well and asked her to help him get revenge on the Orcs and the Horde.
  • Vareesa agreed to rally Dalaran's High Elf rangers and help Rilas fight the Horde.
  • Rilas and Vareesa decided to create an independent organization called the Silver Covenant, with silver tabards as its uniform.
  • Vareesa advised Rilas to travel to the Hinterlands and seek the support of the High Elf rangers living there.

Ch. 60Investigating the Plague

Arthas and Jaina joined Tyrel and the High Elves to investigate Lordaeron’s plague, which turned infected people into undead. They entered an afflicted village and began fighting the undead as they made their way toward a barn suspected of being connected to the plague.

  • Arthas met Tyrel and learned that he and High Priestess Countess Liadrin had come from Quel'Thalas to investigate the plague.
  • Tyrel introduced Valeera Sangunar as his advisor, and Arthas invited Tyrel’s group to join his investigation with Jaina.
