Clearing Out the Hidden Sentries! (Fourth Update)
Under the pitch-black night sky.
A Warship with black sails entered the River Goddess within the island from the estuary. Soren was quite patient, waiting until nightfall before quietly approaching the territory of the native tribe. This time, he brought only a small force; even including the Drow Warrior, there were only 121 men in total. Most of the pirate henchmen remained in the camp. To achieve a surprise attack, a small number of men were necessary, and they had to be highly capable in combat. Only Elite Troops could catch the enemy off guard.
The night grew deeper.
Soren led his men ashore ten kilometers from the indigenous tribe. The distance was perfect; too close and they'd alert the enemy, too far and trekking in the dark would be inconvenient. Most of Soren's men were oddly shaped, some with numerous scars on their faces, bodies, and necks, others with pierced ears, or covered in bizarre tattoos. More than seventy percent of these men were ferocious-looking pirates, undoubtedly elite survivors of countless battles within the pirate world.
Piracy is a profession where only the fittest survive!
Basically, after three battles, those who survive are all quite strong, and pirates improve their strength very quickly under these circumstances, since they are professionals to begin with. All the pirates Soren brought this time were at least Tier 2, with some even reaching Tier 3. These pirates far surpassed ordinary pirates in both combat experience and equipment skills. Pirates' equipment is mostly their own; Soren doesn't need to pay for it, as they will use their bounty to purchase it themselves.
The worst of these pirates were finely crafted Military Weapon, and some of their leaders even wielded Tier 1 Supernatural Weapon.
Then the Drow Warrior disembarked from the ship.
They looked much better than when they first arrived, because Soren had replenished their equipment. He had prepared a large quantity of standard Military Weapon before his arrival, enough to arm nearly three hundred men. This included some Leather Armor and Studded Leather Armor. As for better armor, that was a problem, mainly because the higher the quality of the armor, the more expensive it was; even Soren would feel the pinch at the price of a Full Plate Armor. Now, all the Drow Warrior were wearing new Leather Armor, and nearly a third of their weapons had been replaced.
After all, Soren had taken a +2 Elven War Bow from them, so he had to give them something in return!
He is a very fair person.
The group they brought this time was very strong overall. The Drow possessed remarkably powerful night vision, meaning they had virtually no problem fighting at night. After all, the Underdark was poorly lit, and most of these Drow were albino Elf or Half-Elf with human-human hybrid blood, still possessing infrared-like vision in the dark. Then there were the pirates they brought along, who were unlikely to suffer from night blindness, so their combat effectiveness wouldn't be significantly reduced during a night raid.
"Stop!"
Soren glanced at the others behind him, then gave Vivian a look and said slowly, "We wiped out their scouts last time. They'll probably be prepared too. I'll go check if there are any hidden sentries."
After saying this, he nodded to the others and then disappeared into the darkness.
Soren's figure was completely shrouded in darkness. After entering Stealth mode, he approached the indigenous tribe ahead, while his men remained nearly three kilometers away.
Eliminate the hidden sentries!
This is the most common job for Rogue. Soren is quite adept at spotting sentries.
A glimmer of light appeared ahead. Soren cautiously approached along the edge of the road, not venturing into the tribe, but rather circling it very carefully. Soon he sensed a slight movement coming from the grass to the southwest. Keeping watch at night was a difficult task, as the natives couldn't remain motionless all night. Soren stealthily crept up from the side and saw a small, thin native lying prone among the grass.
The indigenous people of the Overseas Islands are short in stature, somewhat resembling the indigenous people of Indonesia, and are often jokingly referred to as "indigenous Monkey" by pirates.
Soren stealthily approached, his face expressionless.
As the distance closed to about fifteen meters, he suddenly accelerated without making a sound. A faint, cold light appeared, and Soren pounced, covering the man's mouth and nose with his hand. At the same time, a blade pierced through the man's back, protruding directly from his chest. Blood gushed out, and the native Soren had been holding twitched once before turning into a corpse.
A row of cold, hard data appeared:
"Battle over!"
"You Backstab the target!... Dealing 86 points of piercing damage!... You hit the target's heart!... Triggering a lethal damage check!... Target's Fortitude Save throw failed!... Target dies!..."
"You have gained 1750 Slaughter Experience points!..."
Although Soren hadn't scanned the natives' strength, based on his Slaughter Experience, he could roughly determine their class level—around tier three. Due to a lack of knowledge of civilization and few Sorcerer bloodlines, very few natives were Spellcaster; the vast majority were Spellcaster. However, some here could wield Psionics, Shaman Priest wouldn't normally be found in such a small tribe; it was likely a large tribe of tens of thousands.
The proportion of Psionics is estimated to be much smaller than the proportion of Sorcerer!
thump.
With a very slight sound, Soren put the corpse down and then slightly covered it with some grass.
He then entered Stealth mode again, moving along the route of the indigenous tribe. Since he had already discovered the sentries, there was definitely more than one; there must be other indigenous people nearby. Soren was very cautious in Invisibility State. After circling around without finding anything, he began to expand the search area. If the sentries were not eliminated and they were discovered in advance, the effectiveness of a night raid would be greatly reduced, and there was a possibility of heavy losses here.
He has great patience.
After circling three times, Soren finally discovered the second sentry, hiding in a large tree near the south. If it weren't for his keen hearing, he would have had a hard time spotting it. Soren spent a full hour eliminating three sentries outside the indigenous village. Only after confirming there were almost no more sentries nearby did he return to where he started.
It's almost 1 a. m.
He entered the island's River Goddess from the sea after it was completely dark, and after walking along the way and clearing out the hidden sentries, it was now around one o'clock in the morning.
This is the perfect time for a surprise attack!
