Tower Spirit 7
Memories of Death.
When Soren saw the scene before him and heard the words of the Wraith, he immediately realized what was happening. He had seen similar scenes before; when a Undead was restored to its original Soul Form, it might regain some of its consciousness and memories, at which point it would recall certain events. These memories were mainly concentrated in the time before death, because the soul could only remember a limited amount of information. This was somewhat similar to how a soul, after being reincarnated in the Abyss Hell, would forget some of its memories from the Material Plane.
For many beings, the soul is like currency. Many of the low-level Devil and Demon in the Abyss and Baator Hell are reincarnations of souls that have fallen from the Material Plane.
Only the most degraded and self-abandoned souls are sent directly to the River Styx for reincarnation.
Of course, this cycle is about reshaping the soul.
Anyone who has ever witnessed papermaking will be deeply impressed by this: souls are squeezed together in heaps, then ground into powder, and finally fed into the machine to be made into new sheets of white paper.
The Earthbound Spirit's voice gradually faded.
He seemed to remember something, and suddenly started sobbing. After crying for a while, his expression went blank again, and he just stared blankly at Vivian and Soren.
He didn't retain many memories because he had been dead for so long.
Some people always confuse souls with the Undead. In fact, the two cannot be categorized together. A soul is a pure energy body, and a soul can become Undead, but Undead is not a pure soul. Almost all Undead are close to Evil because they are born with a very strong obsession, which is often full of aggression and resentment towards the living. Therefore, most detection Spell will emit a blood-red light when they encounter Undead.
The Undead are beings that defy the rules of death, but the soul is part of those rules.
Strictly speaking, this might be longer than the doctrines of many Deity. But to put it simply, the Earthbound Spirit in front of us was initially Undead, but now he is a soul that has lost most of his memories.
Please perform a ritual to guide them to the afterlife!
Perhaps this word would be simpler to describe it.
Vivian's act of deliverance wasn't a benevolent Justice liberation, but rather a forceful and domineering sealing of the soul. It was tantamount to killing the part of the soul that belonged to the Undead and sealing that part within the wine jug. Therefore, the Wraith before her was also considered to have been delivered. Once the Spell sealing it in the wine jug was lifted, its soul could return to the River Styx. This kind of soul, having already lost too much power, was not pure enough and had few choices.
Death is not necessarily the beginning.
A pure soul, whether good or Evil, will always have new opportunities presented to it.
"Elder brother!"
Vivian took the Iron Flask in her hand, then glanced at the Undead before her and asked, "What's your name?"
The Undead: "..."
Vivian sighed and looked at Soren, saying, "It's even forgotten its own name. It seems it has truly lost itself. I wonder how much of what's inside the Wizard Tower it still remembers."
Forget your own name.
This means the soul is almost lost; a name is a very important thing, which is why Vivian's first question was about it.
Vivian, holding the wine jug, continued, "Where is this? What's nearby? How do I get to the Wizard Tower?"
The Undead: "..."
The little girl asked three questions in a row. The Undead remained motionless and blank, which made her a little discouraged. It made her feel that her initial decision was wrong; imprisoning the Undead's soul had no effect whatsoever. It didn't remember much at all, and even its death memories were just incoherent fragments.
Give me the wine jug.
Soren spoke up at this moment. He gestured for Vivian to hand him the wine jug, then took it and asked, "Where is the kitchen?"
The wine jug is Phylactery.
Or rather, it's something like Phylactery. Only by holding it can one control the Wraith of the dead before them.
Compared to Vivian's question, Soren asked the simplest one, so simple it seemed utterly useless. So, under the girl's somewhat puzzled gaze, the Wraith before him paused slightly. Then, it led Soren towards the second room at the back. There were three rooms there; presumably a kitchen, a storage room, and another room whose purpose was unknown.
Soren nodded in satisfaction and then followed.
He seemed to notice the little girl's puzzled expression, so he said, "It seems he really was a chef at the Wizard Tower in his lifetime. If the Arcanist once owned this Wizard Tower wasn't a mad researcher who could be satisfied with simply creating food with Spell, then he would definitely need a chef. Life during the Arcane Empire was all about luxury and pleasure, and this Wizard Tower is clearly one of the representatives of that. All the surrounding buildings were provided for the Arcanist's servants."
Vivian is only nine years old this year.
Soren said all this to guide her thinking and to teach her how to handle things through his actions.
The Wraith stopped in the second room.
Then its expression turned blank again, but Soren seemed thoughtful. After looking around at the surroundings, he continued, "Prepare food."
Hearing Soren's words.
A flicker of change appeared in the dazed Wraith's eyes, and then it began to move mechanically. In fact, it didn't pick up anything; it was merely repeating the actions of preparing food. In the end, it even filled a plate with air as if it were holding it. As the chef of the Wizard Tower, the thing it did most was prepare food, which was also the thing most easily remembered by its soul. Even if it had almost forgotten, the near-instinctive habit would still be imprinted deep in its soul.
It's like the Undead Guard in some places who continue to patrol and Guard the ruins even after they've forgotten everything.
This is based on Soren's past experience!
"Very good."
A slight smile appeared on Soren's lips as he said in a deep voice, "Take the food upstairs."
The crucial moment has arrived.
This house is built independently on the side of the Wizard Tower Wizard Tower, not directly connected to it. In fact, it's impossible to build a kitchen next to the Wizard Tower; just imagining it would be very unsightly. Therefore, there must be a route to the Wizard Tower here, and this route is quite safe, probably avoiding the [defense mechanisms] and [Mythal] routes.
The Wraith stood frozen in place for a moment.
Then, as if its expression changed slightly, it paused for a moment, then turned and walked towards the back door as if carrying something.
"Hurry up and keep up!"
Soren quickly called out to Vivian beside him and said in a deep voice, "It should be taking a safe route. Let's follow behind and remember the route to the Wizard Tower!"
Follow your normal eating habits.
A person needs to eat three meals a day. Even if it's only one meal a day, the Wraith that have passed through this route have walked it thousands of times in their lives. So even if they die and forget their memories, they may still remember the route.
The two quickly followed.
After the Wraith walked out of the back door, they immediately entered the area of the mist, but only the edge of it.
Soren and Vivian followed closely behind it, moving when it moved and stopping when it stopped. Soren also used his Eidetic Memory memory to memorize the route and the surrounding environment, and was prepared for battle at any moment. However, they did not encounter any battle. The two followed the Wraith in the mist for about two hundred meters, and then it seemed as if they had passed through a corridor, and then everything in front of them opened up.
They arrived at the Wizard Tower.
At this moment, they were less than thirty meters away from the Wizard Tower, and could clearly see the traces of time on it, as well as what appeared to be a side door on the left.
The Wraith did not linger!
It headed straight for the side door, and because of its different soul form, it passed right through the main door.
Soren immediately followed, wanting to see if he could open the door.
However, Vivian immediately reached out and grabbed him from behind, her little face serious as she said in a low voice, "Brother, be careful! There seems to be something behind this door!"
The little girl had barely finished speaking.
With a creak, the heavy side door opened, revealing Wraith climbing the steps but remaining stationary, and a creature that appeared to be Constructed Life made entirely of metal parts. Beside it were two enormous, heavy Adamantite Golem, which activated simultaneously upon noticing Soren's approach, moving towards the side door.
"Soul Scan!"
It appeared to be a mechanical Constructed Life, with a golden head, seemingly infused with Adamantine and other substances. Two golden gems adorned its eye sockets. Upon detecting Soren's presence, it emitted two beams of light that enveloped them, while simultaneously speaking in a metallic voice, "No Soul Mark retained!... Unauthorized visitor!..."
"Under Level 1 alert!... Anyone approaching without permission will be considered an intruder!..."
"Tower Spirit 7 takes over command!..."
"Constructed Spawn Activated!... Target 1 scan danger level: E!... Target 2 scan danger level: C!... No need to activate Magical Energy Armor!... Magical Energy Crystal Pulse Cannon charging canceled!..."
"Activate the Adamantite Puppet Golem!..."
"Initiate command to expel or kill the intruder!... Adamantite Golem fully charged!... Command activated!..."
The series of changes was dazzling.
A faint light seemed to flash at the top of the Wizard Tower, as if something had just turned. Then, incredibly heavy footsteps sounded, and two Adamantite Golem, each about three meters tall and weighing over a ton, moved. Energy shone in their eyes as they walked towards Soren and Vivian.
