Ch. 204Vampiric Feast

As demons and strange forces converged on the City of Wealth, Soren’s body began transforming uncontrollably as he sensed Vivian nearby. After learning she had gone to confront the Godsbane of Fear, he raced toward the battle, while a blood-red spell swept across the city.

  • Soren watched the Temple of Wealth mobilize its knights against the demons, then saw the Silver Hand and a Holy Spirit Cleric fly toward a distant tower.
  • Soren’s heartbeat and body temperature surged as he spotted Vampires and hurried toward the disturbance, struggling to control his changing body.
  • Aladdin found Soren with a Yuan-ti woman, who said Vivian had gone to deal with the Godsbane of Fear.
  • Soren’s concern for Vivian restored some control, and he leaped several stories high before rushing toward the explosion.
  • A red-eyed man cast Vampiric Feast, boiling the blood of living creatures within five hundred meters and turning them into dried corpses.

Ch. 205Demigod Vampire

Soren rushed into the demigod domain and found Vivian fighting a Legendary opponent, then took the cold-faced man's Energy Drain spell meant for her. As Soren lay dying, his divine power transformed him into a Slayer Half-Fiend, leaving the enemy stunned by the return of a Child of Slaughter.

  • Soren crossed the river and entered the demigod domain, where he transformed as he approached Vivian's battlefield.
  • Soren found Vivian fighting a Legendary opponent and recognized her despite her changed appearance.
  • The cold-faced man attacked the distracted Vivian with Energy Drain, and Soren Shadow Jumped behind her to block the spell.
  • Energy Drain drained Soren's vitality and permanently cost him eight class levels, leaving him in a dying state as Vivian transformed into her Demon form.
  • Soren activated his divine power and completed a Slayer Half-Fiend transformation, prompting the cold-faced man to exclaim that a Child of Slaughter still existed.

Ch. 207Child of Slaughter

Soren awakened as a Child of Slaughter, converting his Fear Divinity into Slaughter Divinity and gaining a bloodthirsty Slayer form. He and Vivian nearly defeated the cold man, but a Holy Spirit Cleric summoned a Divine Servant while turning his attention toward the Demigod Vampire.

  • Soren's Fear Divinity converted into Slaughter Divinity, awakening him as a Child of Slaughter and changing his attributes and abilities.
  • Soren attacked the cold man with dual scimitars, but the man's defensive spells and protections withstood most of the blows.
  • Vivian used Khelben's Warding Whip and Dimensional Anchor to strip away the cold man's defenses and prevent his escape.
  • Vivian cast Mordenkainen's Disjunction, destroying the cold man's equipment, and Soren slashed him nearly in half, gaining insight into Sword Momentum—Waist Cleave.
  • A Holy Spirit Cleric arrived, focused on the Demigod Vampire, and summoned a Divine Servant from Celestia with Planar Ally.

Ch. 208God-Conferring Ceremony

Soren killed the Godsbane of Fear and fled with Vivian after she collapsed from absorbing its Divine Power, while the battle in the City of Wealth continued. The Vampire God Child, Reinhard, began his attempt to ascend to godhood as vampires across the continent prayed to him.

  • Soren beheaded the Godsbane of Fear, gained 3 points of Divinity, and watched the Fear Divine Power transfer to Vivian, who collapsed during the attempted fusion.
  • Soren carried Vivian out of the battle while the Silver Hand and Holy Spirit Cleric focused on the Demigod Vampire; the fading Slayer transformation left Soren weakened by permanent Energy Drain.
  • The Holy Spirit Cleric sealed the Dimensional Space and chose to fight the Demigod Vampire rather than pursue Soren and Vivian.
  • Reinhard revealed that the slaughter in the city had spread enough fear to prepare his ascension and declared himself the true Demon Lord of Fear.
  • Reinhard summoned blood from across the City of Wealth as the moon turned red, while vampires gathered at altars across the continent and prayed for his godhood.

Ch. 209Prayer Holy Word

Soren listened as Reinhard’s God-Conferring Ceremony proclaimed him the God of Vampires, with domains of Fear and hunting, and promised Vampires shelter for their souls. The ceremony left Reinhard’s followers facing coordinated attacks from rival temples and the Demon Lord of Fear’s servants.

  • Soren recognized the prayers as Reinhard’s God-Conferring Ceremony and judged his claims bold and dangerous.
  • Reinhard’s Prayer Holy Word named him ruler of Vampires, Avatar of Fear, and hunter of the night, and promised to protect Vampire souls in his God’s Realm.
  • The Hunt Priest ordered hunters to kill Vampires for encroaching on the God of Hunt’s domain.
  • The Silver Moon Priest and the Holy Light Church sent their forces to find and eliminate Reinhard’s followers, while the Night Temple chose to watch for Lady of Night’s oracle.
  • The Demon Lord of Fear’s servants accused Reinhard of stealing divine power and ordered a purge of Vampires, calling for the Witch of Fear, Lillian.
  • Soren understood that Reinhard’s ascent would trigger a prolonged war between Vampire followers and rival faiths.

Ch. 210Legendary Degree

After escaping the battle over the Vampire God Child’s god-conferring, Soren gained Legendary Degree and decided to take the unconscious Vivian overseas. He hoped to avoid the growing danger on the mainland while finding help for her and a way to remove his Energy Drain spell.

  • A Holy Spirit Cleric joined the Silver Hand’s battle against the newly ascended Vampire God Child Reinhard, and Soren carried Vivian away from the fight.
  • Soren’s Legendary Degree increased by 6 after he appeared as the Slayer and killed another Godsbane of Fear during the ceremony.
  • Soren worried that Vivian could not control her Divine Power and ruled out seeking Goria while the Legendary Combat continued.
  • Soren chose to take Vivian to the Overseas Regions, where Totem spirits and False Deities offered opportunities and evil-aligned Clerics might remove his Energy Drain spell.

Ch. 211Land of Chaos

Soren arrived with Vivian at Port Tyler, a lawless port serving the Soros Islands, and sought a safe place to stay while planning to have his Energy Drain removed. The chapter ended with an Amazon woman from the inn offering him sexual services.

  • Soren carried the sleeping Vivian through Port Tyler, where rumors spread about the Vampire God Child’s ascension and the destruction of the City of Wealth.
  • Soren reflected on the riches and dangers of the Overseas Islands and passed scenes of public punishment, tavern brawls, and looting without getting involved.
  • Soren checked into an expensive inn run by Amazon women, recognizing it as a heavily guarded stronghold.
  • Soren left Vivian safely in their room and planned to visit the Temple of the Sea to seek a cure for his Energy Drain.
  • An Amazon woman emerged from the inn’s basement with blood on her and propositioned Soren.

Ch. 212A divine contract

Soren sought help at the Temple of the Sea to remove the lingering effects of Energy Drain. He agreed to kill former followers who had given a Sacrificial Ritual to the Lord of Storms in exchange for the Goddess of the Sea’s aid.

  • Soren reached the Temple of the Sea and asked for help with the negative energy and soul damage caused by Energy Drain.
  • A Naga Siren told Soren that Greater Restoration required a substantial offering or a service for the Goddess of the Sea.
  • The Naga Siren ordered Soren to kill the people who had abandoned the Goddess and bring her their leader’s head.
  • Soren accepted the task, and the Naga Siren led him deeper into the temple to remove the spell and restore his soul.

Ch. 214Greater Restoration

Soren received Greater Restoration from the Temple of the Sea, which healed his body and soul and restored his Legendary Skill, Master Sleight of Hand. The Naga Priestess tasked him with killing every worshipper who had betrayed the Goddess of the Sea and gave him a list of targets and support in Port Tyler.

  • Soren considered how the Temple of the Sea was using him to punish the Lord of Storms's followers without provoking a direct conflict between the temples.
  • The Naga Priestess used the temple's Divine Power to cast Greater Restoration on Soren, removing his injuries, Energy Drain, and Soul Weakness.
  • Soren recovered Master Sleight of Hand and promised to punish those who had abandoned the Goddess of the Sea's faith.
  • The Naga Priestess warned Soren to kill every betrayer without exception and told him that Pirates supported by the temple could help him in Port Tyler.
  • The Naga Priestess gave Soren a list of betrayers, noting that some would soon put out to sea and might be vulnerable to infiltration.

Ch. 215Undressing Magic

After receiving a sea blessing and a magical insignia from the Naga Siren, Soren tested his restored Rogue skills and returned to the Inn. He left the Amazon Warriors stunned by stripping their executioner in an instant with his newly named “Undressing Magic.”

  • The Naga Siren gave Soren a temporary sea blessing and the Drowned-One's Insignia, which granted Water Breathing and improved deep-sea abilities.
  • Soren suspected the damaged insignia might be part of a powerful Legendary item capable of summoning a Legendary Deep Sea Monster.
  • Soren tested Master Sleight of Hand, demonstrating extraordinary dexterity and silently stealing a patrolling Guard's money pouch.
  • At the Inn, the Amazon Warriors mocked and laughed at Soren, so he challenged their executioner to a magic trick.
  • Soren stripped the executioner completely bare before the Amazon Warriors could see how he had done it, then called the trick “Undressing Magic.”

Ch. 216The Appearance of Throat Cutter

Soren demonstrated his recovered Rogue skills, calmed Vivian during another episode of uncontrolled Divine Power, and prepared to carry out the Priest of the Sea’s request against merchants who had abandoned the Goddess of the Sea. The chapter ended with Soren infiltrating their Port Tyler compound and beginning his attack.

  • Soren used precise Sleight of Hand to strip an Amazon Warrior, earning the Amazons’ respect and prompting them to report him to their superiors.
  • Soren found Vivian floating in her sleep amid objects lifted by her uncontrolled Divine Power, held her until she calmed, and promised to prepare a way to suppress the Fear Divinity.
  • Soren reviewed a dossier on the merchants who had converted to the Lord of Storms and their powerful patron, the Duchess of the Duchy of Rosado.
  • After Vivian’s Divine Power flared again, Soren left for the docks to attack the merchants’ base while their fleet was away.
  • Soren slipped into the compound, killed a guard, prepared his poisoned weapons, and began hunting the remaining guards in the shadows.

Ch. 217Musou Frenzy

Soren massacred the Rosard Chamber of Commerce’s stronghold and burned its ships on the Naga Priestess’s orders, leaving Port Tyler to fear the unknown “Throat Cutter.” The Naga Priestess praised him, warned that the Followers of the Lord of Storms were investigating, and prepared helpers and a reward as the Temple of the Sea planned further killings.

  • Soren infiltrated the Rosard Chamber of Commerce’s compound and silently killed guards and sleepers before the alarm was raised.
  • After the remaining guards discovered the slaughter, Soren killed their leader and fought through the group, then set fire to the warehouse and collected a few valuables.
  • Soren went to Port Tyler Harbor, killed more targets, and used Levitate to move across the water as two ships erupted in flames.
  • By dawn, nearly fifty people at the Rosard stronghold and sailors aboard its ships had been killed, and the name “Throat Cutter” spread through Port Tyler.
  • Soren returned to the Temple of the Sea, where the Naga Priestess praised his work, said the Followers of the Lord of Storms were investigating, and offered him helpers and a reward.

Ch. 218Speaker of the Dead

The Naga Priestess took Soren beneath the Temple of the Sea and summoned a Ghost Fleet to help him fight the Betrayers. She placed the Ghost Ship Speaker of the Dead under Soren’s temporary command, revealing its undead crew, weapons, and abilities.

  • Soren followed the Naga Priestess into the temple’s underground waterways, where she summoned three sea Undead to serve as his helpers.
  • The Naga Priestess opened a Portal and brought Soren above an ancient sea route, then called sharks, undead sea creatures, and a Ghost Ship from the depths.
  • The Naga Priestess led Soren aboard the living Ghost Ship and gave him a conch horn to command it.
  • Soren examined the ship’s data and learned that Speaker of the Dead had an undead crew, 24 cannons, and a locked force of 872 Deathspeaker Bound Spirits.

Ch. 219Greater Invisibility

Soren used the Speaker of the Dead to prepare an ambush against the returning Betrayers and learned that rumors of the Throat Cutter had earned him a point of Legendary Degree. Back at the inn, he chose to raise his Wizard Level to 7 and learn Greater Invisibility while waiting for a chance to confront the Demon Lord of Fear’s consciousness.

  • The Naga Priestess demonstrated that the Speaker of the Dead could travel underwater and ordered it to lie in wait for the Betrayers’ return.
  • Soren left the Temple of the Sea and received a point of Legendary Degree as rumors of the Throat Cutter spread through Port Tyler.
  • Soren assessed the danger posed by high-tier Spellcasters and the limits of the Temple of the Sea’s forces before returning to the inn.
  • Soren checked on Vivian and decided he needed to wait until he had a much better chance of destroying the Demon Lord of Fear’s consciousness.
  • Soren spent his accumulated Slaughter Experience to raise his Wizard Level to 7 and chose Greater Invisibility as his new spell.

Ch. 220Source of Calamity

While Port Tyler descended into violence after the Rosard Chamber of Commerce collapsed, Soren studied the Spell Formula for Greater Invisibility and prepared to pursue the company’s returning fleet. He learned the Spell and set out to intercept the fleet with the Ghost Ship.

  • Soren heard that the Amazon Women had clashed with local forces and considered moving with Vivian into the Temple of the Sea.
  • Soren reached Wizard Level 7, spent his Skill Points on knowledge, and secretly studied the Greater Invisibility Spell Formula.
  • The Amazon Women fought local forces as Port Tyler’s factions struggled to seize the Rosard Chamber of Commerce’s Trade shares, and the Guard Force intervened to maintain superficial Order.
  • Soren learned Greater Invisibility within a week and heard that the Rosard Chamber of Commerce’s fleet had begun its return voyage.
  • Soren prepared to intercept the fleet with the Ghost Ship and sink its ships.

Ch. 221Plans Changed

The Naga Priestess changed Soren’s mission to intercept the Betrayers’ merchant ships, which carried a fortune stolen from a native tribe in the Soros Islands. Soren secured her promise of reinforcements but left the temple wondering how the Betrayers had overcome the tribe’s Totem Spirits.

  • Port Tyler’s factions fought over territory and profits as the Temple of the Sea, the Storm Temple, and the Amazon Warriors expanded their influence.
  • The Naga Priestess told Soren that the Betrayers had massacred a native tribe and loaded its gold and other treasures onto merchant ships.
  • Soren warned that Pirates and powerful rivals were hunting the ships, and he raised the possibility that Large Octopus and a Black Dragon would pursue the treasure.
  • The Naga Priestess promised to send reinforcements and, if necessary, summon Naga Sea Folk or intervene herself to seize the fortune.
  • After leaving the temple, Soren questioned how the Betrayers had defeated the native tribe’s Totem Spirits and why the Naga Priestess had not mentioned them.

Ch. 222Battle Test!

Soren left Vivian in the Temple District before taking the Speaker of the Dead to sea, where he launched a battle test against a pirate ship. He slaughtered the pirates while testing his spells and combat skills, and his assault was still underway as the chapter ended.

  • Soren settled the sleeping Vivian in an old house outside the Temple of the Sea and promised to return soon.
  • The Naga Priestess ordered Didanas to command summoned warriors and search for the Betrayers, while privately planning to use Vivian as leverage over Soren.
  • Soren took the Speaker of the Dead out to sea, found a pirate ship through the mist, and ordered his undead crew to prepare for battle.
  • Soren flew invisibly to the pirate ship and killed the One-Eyed first mate and several pirates before the crew could locate him.
  • Soren continued attacking the pirates with his twin blades, leaving more than twenty corpses as his Greater Invisibility began to weaken.

Ch. 223Troublesome Broad!

Soren used Greater Invisibility and Stealth to slaughter the pirates aboard their ship, but the female captain ambushed him and revealed she could fight without sight. She relentlessly attacked his position, leaving Soren in danger as the battle continued.

  • Soren used Greater Invisibility to kill pirates, then activated Hide from Gaze when they began firing crossbows at him.
  • Stoneskin protected Soren from the crossbow bolts, and he resumed attacking while invisible, killing dozens of pirates.
  • Soren noted that the pirates had no spellcasters who could detect him and wondered about obtaining an Anti-Detection Cloak.
  • The female pirate captain ambushed Soren with twin blades, and he blocked her attacks before vanishing again.
  • The captain closed her eyes, sensed Soren's position, and attacked him with the Blind Fight feat, forcing him to dodge.

Ch. 225Two-Weapon Fighting

Soren defeated a red-haired female pirate in close combat, captured her, and cleared the pirate ship. After gaining over ten thousand Slaughter Experience, he continued toward his plans aboard the Ghost Ship.

  • The red-haired female pirate used Two-Weapon Fighting to wound Soren and drive him out of the cramped cabin.
  • Soren countered her attack with a headbutt, kidney punch, and close-range strikes, breaking and dislocating her arms before knocking her unconscious.
  • Soren recognized her Interlocking Sabers, bound her tightly, and suspected she might be useful.
  • The Ghost Ship appeared through the thickening fog, and its animated rigging lifted the captive pirate onto the mast.
  • Soren checked his status and found that killing the pirates had earned him over ten thousand Slaughter Experience.

Ch. 226Isabel

Soren looted the pirate ship, then interrogated its captured red-haired captain aboard the Ghost Ship. She revealed that her name was Adele-Isabel and that she was Captain “Killer Whale”'s daughter, while Soren questioned her about her family and the Sea Wolf.

  • Soren collected the pirates’ money and jewelry, then had the Ghost Ship tow their valuable vessel onto the island’s beach.
  • Soren revived the red-haired female pirate by dragging her through the sea and threatened to kill her or turn her into an undead first mate unless she proved useful.
  • The captive mistook Soren for an ally of the Sea Wolf, but Soren told her he wanted to learn her value and forced her to discuss her past.
  • The pirate identified herself as Adele-Isabel, daughter of Captain “Killer Whale,” and said her mother was a Western Kingdom noblewoman whom her father had taken after killing her husband and attendants.
  • Soren asked whether the Sea Wolf had killed her father and whether she had become a pirate for revenge, but she fell silent.
