The Boundary Sea was boundless, divided into eight directions.

The region of the Boundary Sea where Ning Qi and the others were located lay in its extreme east.

Within this expanse of the Boundary Sea stood a single Immortal Realm, known as the Great Desolation Immortal Realm.

The Great Desolation Immortal Realm was the most powerful force in this stretch of the Boundary Sea. It was also a remnant force that had scattered into this region after the Heaven Realm had crumbled apart.

The Immortal Realm existed for two reasons: first, to provide all immortals with a place suited to their survival; second, to resist the incursions of the Boundary Sea and shelter all living beings.

Yet after endless ages had passed, the Immortal Realm no longer possessed its former splendor and glory.

With the Boundary Sea continually expanding, they had long since become powerless to protect all living beings and could only choose to preserve themselves.

Within the Great Desolation Immortal Realm was a special place known as the Great Desolation Immortal Realm Immortal Selection Pavilion.

The Immortal Selection Pavilion was responsible for investigating whether anyone in the Lower Realm had attained immortality, then guiding them into the Great Desolation Immortal Realm.

After the Immortal World had been established, attaining immortality came to follow a fixed process.

If Lower Realm Cultivators wished to become immortals, they had to receive the Immortal World's recognition before they qualified to enter it.
