Abel faced a dilemma: how could he place two different rules into a Level 21 Spell Pattern? The inheritance clearly stated that a Spell Pattern could contain only one kind of rule. In the end, the entire Spell Pattern had to be composed of the same rule for it to be complete.
If he dared place both rules into the Level 21 Spell Pattern now, even if the two rules did not clash, he might remain permanently at Level 21.
That was not what he wanted. He had the Dark World behind him and the Horadric Cube artifact helping him, so his aspirations were far broader.
Especially after witnessing the Goddess's power when she descended into Lorraine, he had found his goal.
In fact, veteran Rule Wizards also learned a second rule, but they retained their previous-level Spell Pattern. After advancing, they drew a new-level Spell Pattern and filled it with the new rule.
Since this knowledge belonged to Rule Wizards, it was not included in ordinary inheritances. Instead, it existed as advancement knowledge.
Moreover, no Wizard had ever manifested and activated two rules simultaneously while advancing to become a Rule Wizard, much less survived the erosion of both elements.
Abel's dilemma became known to the Tree of Life through their equal contract. As Abel hesitated over whether to place the Lightning rule into the Level 21 Spell Pattern and abandon the Ice rule, a portion of the life energy sent by the Tree of Life transformed into something resembling mental power.
That mental-power-like energy appeared directly within Abel's main soul. Beside the Level 21 Spell Pattern, it directly copied another Level 21 Spell Pattern.
Although Abel was in a state of inner soul observation, he was still stunned by what he saw.
He had considered drawing another Level 21
