Background / History
Black Wind has been with Abel since birth. Abel raised it from a cub, regarded it as a child, and formed a soul chain with it through the Mount Strengthening Technique 129 161. Its appetite became notably large as it grew, requiring dedicated care and a substantial food supply 45.
Abel hired former Orc Empire direwolf trainer Maxi to provide Black Wind with systematic training. After four months, Black Wind stood over two meters tall, had completed preliminary training, and was recognized as a Beast King despite never living among a direwolf pack 127 128.
Following its evolution beyond the Direwolf racial limit, Black Wind became Abel's first mount. A custom saddle was made for its unusually powerful frame, but Abel rejected reins in favor of controlling it through their soul chain 129.
Appearance
Black Wind is a massive black Direwolf with a physique far beyond ordinary members of its species. By the end of its training, it was over two meters tall; later, Abel rode it at a height of nearly three meters above the ground 128 161.
- Black, glossy fur 128
- Clearly defined, explosive musculature 128
- More robust than a Direwolf King 633
- Carries a regal, kingly bearing around strangers 128
- Possesses a naturally intimidating Spirit Beast aura that unsettles or collapses nearby horses 130
Personality
Black Wind is playful and mischievous around Abel, but dignified and imposing before others 128. It is deeply attached to Abel, whom it considers more important than its own life, and it seeks to remain at his side even when advancing becomes painful 129 1237.
It is eager for battle and protects Abel instinctively in unfamiliar territory. When it entered the Rogue Encampment, it immediately guarded Abel against perceived threats; once told they would fight together, it eagerly committed itself to the danger 161. It remains obedient to Abel's commands, even when reluctant to return to storage rings or withdraw from combat 634.
Abilities & Skills
Soul Chain Coordination
Black Wind shares a soul link with Abel, allowing immediate mental communication and precise movement without reins.
- Responds directly to Abel's thoughts and combat commands 129 161.
- Can execute abrupt turns, changes of pace, and evasive maneuvers while carrying Abel 129 162.
- Can sense Abel's emotions and intent through the bond 198.
- Abel shared Black Wind's pain through the soul chain during its High-level Spirit Beast advancement, helping stabilize its soul 1237.
Extreme Speed and Agility
Black Wind is an exceptional land mount even among Direwolves. Its natural speed was later enhanced by Lachdanan's Special Speed ability.
- Can make sharp turns at extreme speed without slowing down 129.
- Dodges aimed spells through rapid direction changes, stops, and leaps 162 186.
- Gained Special Speed after accidentally consuming Lachdanan's golden Ability Potion, becoming faster than Lachdanan 288.

- Reached a recorded speed of approximately 41.67 meters per second 541.
- Its speed enhances Abel's mounted charges, melee strikes, and Whirlwind attacks 342 452 861.
Blink
Black Wind's innate teleportation is instantaneous and does not require drawing a spell pattern.
- Initially teleported roughly 100 meters and could be used twice consecutively before an hour of recovery 192.
- Forced a third consecutive Blink during the destruction of the Keen Duchy's Magic Towers, escaping an imminent explosion with Abel 198.
- Later increased to five uses per day 388.
- Upon becoming a High-level Spirit Beast, gained unlimited use of its teleportation ability 1237.
- Can Blink Abel while preserving invisibility when they are concealed 633.
- Its instantaneous activation makes it faster and more convenient than Abel's spell-based Blink in emergencies 783.
Physical Combat and Durability
Black Wind can fight directly while serving as Abel's mount.
- Uses sharp claws and charging momentum to tear apart Fallen 162.
- Its fur provides defensive capability comparable to magic armor 294.
- Withstood the recoil from a direct clash against Tree Head Wooden Fist without taking a step back 342.
- Its mobility and strength amplify Abel's mounted melee attacks against powerful enemies such as the Ash 452.
Black-Smoke Shield
Black Wind can produce dense black smoke that forms a defensive shield.
Beastly Might Control
Black Wind can suppress its Spirit Beast aura on Abel's command.
- Its uncontrolled aura frightens ordinary horses and makes warhorses nervous 130.
- Abel instructed it to hide its beastly might when traveling through Gamba City 130.
