Previous life in the Tang Sect

Tang San was a Tang Sect outer disciple whose talent surpassed his peers. Despite his service to the sect, he was denied its inner cultivation methods and Hidden Weapon teachings because he did not belong to the Tang family’s direct bloodline. He subsequently infiltrated the restricted grounds and stole the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 103.

He studied its secret arts and manufactured Hidden Weapons, including the Buddha Fury Tang Lotus, which no one in the sect had reproduced for many years. Confronted by the elders at Ghost Worrier Cliff, he leapt to his death 103 150.

When Lin Hai later examined these memories, he saw a brief blood-red flash immediately before Tang San struck the ground. Tang San’s next remembered experience was awakening as an infant in Sacred Soul Village; he retained no memory of his birth or Tang Hao’s battle with Spirit Hall 103.

Childhood and Nuoding Academy

Tang San began meditating when barely over a year old and trained his eye technique on a mountaintop once he could walk steadily. Tang Hao noticed these abnormalities and initially treated him coldly. His awakening of Twin Martial Souls at six changed Tang Hao’s attitude, giving him hope of revenge against Spirit Hall and restoring the Clear Sky Sect’s standing 236 237.

At Nuoding Junior Spirit Master Academy, Tang San briefly served as Dormitory Seven’s head. Xiao Wu defeated him in their introductory spar, throwing and kicking him beneath a bed. He conceded the position and sought treatment for his injured hands 22.

Over the following six years, Xiao Wu repeatedly defeated him without returning his attachment. Tang San nevertheless persuaded her to accompany him to Shrek Academy 61.

Appearance

• Ordinary-looking face: His appearance is explicitly described as plain, including his own concern about damaging his face during Xiao Wu’s attack 22 80.
• Purple-lit eyes: A violet glint appears in his eyes when he uses his eye technique or struggles to contain strong emotions 79 98 137.

Personality

Tang San maintains a courteous, restrained exterior, but privately considers himself superior to most people native to Douluo Continent. His devotion to the Tang Sect is central to his identity: he intends to establish its legacy in this world and reacts especially strongly to criticism of its techniques 22 80 137.

His previous life was solitary, without family, friends, or a personal master. Consequently, he places exceptional importance on Tang Hao, Yu Xiaogang, and Xiao Wu despite their neglect, limitations, or lack of reciprocal affection. Xiao Wu’s closeness to Lin Hai becomes a major source of jealousy 80 81.

Repeated humiliation makes him increasingly gloomy and resentful. He privately assigns others “cause to die,” including Lin Hai, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing, but conceals his hostility when he lacks the strength to act. Against Lin Hai, he consciously chooses endurance rather than a confrontation he knows he cannot survive 64 79 81.

The exposure of his previous-life identity severely damages his sense of belonging. Although he inwardly rejects dependence on others, he recognizes that Soul Power and his Martial Souls remain indispensable to using the Tang Sect’s strongest arts 237 267.

Shrek Academy and the Suotuo Ambush

Tang San enters Shrek at Level 32, but Xiao Wu’s Level 49 overshadows what would otherwise be exceptional talent. Lin Hai then secretly seals his Martial Soul during an apparently friendly shoulder pat 61 64.

At Suotuo’s Great Soul Arena, Tang San remains undefeated in individual matches. Lin Hai recruits Bule, Ekao, and Tianya under an illusion, ordering them to kill him while he is alone 76.

The three Soul Ancestors overwhelm him on a secluded road. Flender arrives before they can finish him, and Shao Xin subsequently treats his wounds. Yu Xiaogang incorrectly attributes the plot to Bone Douluo Gu Rong, a conclusion Tang San accepts 81 82 84 85.

Stolen Knowledge and the Switched Spirit Bone

While Tang San sleeps, Lin Hai searches his memories and reproduces his Hidden Weapon designs. Tang San remains unaware that his supposed advantage has been copied 103.

Tang Hao later gives him what he believes is Ah Yin’s Hundred-Thousand-Year Right Leg Bone. Tang San instead absorbs a Thousand-Year Blue Silver Grass Torso Bone, gaining only modest Soul Power and Light of Life. Yu Xiaogang deduces that the original bone was switched 123 124.

Spirit Master Competition

Tang San tries to build influence through Hidden Weapon gifts, particularly by attracting Dai Mubai’s interest. His plan suffers a major setback when Ning Rongrong demonstrates that her sect already possesses stronger weapons 136 137.

Continued comparisons with stronger peers push him toward cultivating the Clear Sky Hammer. Yu Xiaogang encourages him to pursue strength rather than dwell on Xiao Wu, and Tang San reaches Rank 40 150 205.

During Tang Hao’s clash with Spirit Hall, his father attempts to break through and escape with him. Lin Hai intercepts Tang Hao’s Great Sumeru Hammer attack 213.

Exposure in Blue Silver Forest

After escaping Spirit City, Tang Hao seeks to awaken Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor bloodline before his own remaining life runs out 234.

Lin Hai exposes Tang San’s previous-life knowledge before Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang San insists that he was reborn rather than possessing another child, but Ah Yin rejects him and refuses the requested awakening. The confrontation leaves his relationship with Tang Hao increasingly cold 236 237.

Divine Instructions and the Clear Sky Sect

The Asura Divine Will explains that Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor source is sealed. It directs him to earn one hundred consecutive victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena and pass Hell Road, obtaining Divine Slaughter’s Domain as a medium through which the seal can be broken 242.

Before beginning those trials, Tang Hao takes him to the Clear Sky Sect. Tang San argues that isolation cannot protect the sect indefinitely, connecting Lin Hai’s ties to Spirit Hall, the Heaven Dou leadership, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and Dai Mubai. His argument still includes the mistaken belief that Gu Rong ordered his assassination 267 269.

Before his departure for the City of Slaughter, Tang Hao instructs him to visit Tai Tan and explain Tailong’s detention personally 270.
