Background / History
Tang San was an outer disciple of the Tang Sect in his previous life. Though acknowledged as exceptionally talented, he remained dissatisfied with the limits of the outer sect and secretly obtained the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. He devoted himself to its techniques and Hidden Weapons before leaping from Ghost Worrier Cliff while pursued by Tang Sect elders. A blood-red flash appeared immediately before his death; he next remembers awakening as an infant in Sacred Soul Village. 103
His rebirth is later disputed. Lin Hai accuses him of occupying the original Tang San's body, while Tang San insists that he was only reborn. Tang Hao admits that he had recognized Tang San's abnormal behavior from early childhood, including his unusually early meditation, eye training, and weapon crafting. 235
At Nuoding Academy, Tang San meets Xiao Wu in Dormitory Seven and challenges her to a spar. She overwhelms him with close-quarters attacks and throws him beneath a bed with her Soft Skill. He accepts the defeat outwardly, but resolves to win the next time. 22
After arriving at Shrek Academy, Tang San initially maintains an undefeated record in one-on-one soul battles through Tang Sect martial arts. His position deteriorates as Lin Hai's presence, Xiao Wu's distance, and the emergence of stronger peers intensify his pride, resentment, and isolation. 76 80 81
Lin Hai secretly arranges for Bule, Ekao, and Tianya to ambush him. Tang San is badly wounded while fighting three high-level Soul Ancestors, but Flender intervenes and brings him back to Shrek for treatment. The incident causes the academy to relocate toward Heaven Dou City for greater security. 81 82 84 85
Tang Hao later gives Tang San what he believes is Ah Yin's Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. The bone has been switched for a Thousand-Year Blue Silver Grass Torso Bone, ruining an important Spirit Bone position and giving Tang San only a weak healing skill. 123 124
Following the exposure of his past-life identity and Ah Yin's refusal to awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, Tang San loses much of his sense of belonging. He nevertheless identifies a path forward: resolve his Twin Martial Soul conflict, awaken Blue Silver Grass, attach high-year Spirit Rings to the Clear Sky Hammer, and restore the full strength of his Tang Sect arts. 236
After receiving divine favor and five high-quality Spirit Bones, Tang San accompanies Tang Hao to the Clear Sky Sect. He impresses Tang Xiao and the elders by analyzing Spirit Hall's expanding influence and the risks of the sect remaining isolated. 266 267 268
Appearance
Tang San is a young man in blue with an ordinary-looking face. His eyes can flash violet when he is emotionally agitated or using his eye technique. 137 233
- Usually wears blue clothing. 233
- Has violet eye-light associated with the Purple Demon Eyes. 137
- Is described as plain-looking, a fact he is personally sensitive about. 22
Personality
Tang San is disciplined, guarded, and capable of maintaining outward composure even when humiliated or enraged. After Xiao Wu defeats him, he accepts her victory politely while privately treating the loss as a result of carelessness. 22
His pride is rooted in his status as the Tang Sect's foremost outer disciple and his achievement in recreating the Buddha Fury Tang Lotus. Being surpassed by peers in Douluo Continent leaves him gloomy, resentful, and increasingly withdrawn. 80 150
He is patient and long-term oriented when facing an opponent he cannot defeat. Convinced that Lin Hai could kill him instantly, Tang San chooses to endure, cultivate, rebuild Tang Sect weapons, and eventually develop his Clear Sky Hammer. 81
Despite his emotional instability, he can be politically perceptive. At the Clear Sky Sect, he identifies the links among Lin Hai, Xue Qinghe, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Star Luo, and Spirit Hall's growing influence. 268
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. His Blue Silver Grass is tied to the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, but its source has been placed under an unusual seal. 81 236 241
- Blue Silver Grass — His primary martial soul during his early cultivation; its growth potential is limited while its source remains sealed. 64 241
- Clear Sky Hammer — His second martial soul, associated with overwhelming destructive force and strength. 80 92
- He avoids using the Clear Sky Hammer during the assassination ambush because its Soul Power consumption could leave him unable to use either martial soul or Tang Sect secret arts. 82
- He plans to add high-year Spirit Rings to the Clear Sky Hammer to force future Soul Power growth. 236
Tang Sect Secret Arts
Tang San retains the techniques of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record from his previous life. 103

- Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — A technique used in an attempt to redirect Tianya's blade. 81

Hidden Weapons
Tang San crafts and uses mechanical Hidden Weapons, viewing them as tools for both Support Spirit Masters and armies. 136
- Silent Sleeve Arrows — Fired during the ambush, but evaded or deflected by his attackers. 82
- Back-Mounted Crossbow — Used alongside his sleeve arrows during the same battle. 82
- Godly Zhuge Crossbow — A repeating crossbow capable of threatening Soul Ancestors; it is later outperformed by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's crossbows, which can threaten Soul Kings. 137
- He offers to provide a set of Hidden Weapons to each Shrek teammate, hoping to secure Dai Mubai's interest and eventually access the Star Luo market. 136
Spirit Bone Skill
Tang San absorbs a Thousand-Year Blue Silver Grass Torso Bone that had been substituted for a far more valuable Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone. 123
- Light of Life — Releases more than a dozen faint green light specks from his chest to heal Tang Hao. 124
- Limitation: The bone provides only a minor Soul Power increase and occupies a crucial torso-bone position that Tang Hao considers wasted. 123 124
