Background / History
A Demon King is created by advancing beyond ordinary life through the absorption of a Devil Fruit's core concept. Milim established the system after defeating the Dragon Man Devil Fruit's will and devouring its concept. The World Sound then announced the beginning of Demon King evolution and recognized Milim as the first member of the new order 70 71.
The transformation requires four known conditions: the ability to perceive or interact with souls, an emotion extreme enough to withstand the wills of tens of thousands of people, a body at the peak of its potential, and a Devil Fruit representing a concept 73. Failure can destroy the candidate's mind; Ochoku became an empty vegetable after enduring only several thousand souls, while Kong's attempt failed because rational thought could not withstand the combined will of the prisoners used in the ritual 73 81.
The world could initially support only four Demon Kings. As a result, the birth of each one triggered global competition, with pirates, Marines, and other powerful figures seeking the remaining positions. World Sound's expansion into another world eventually increased the available energy and strengthened the existing Demon Kings 71 73 143.
Abilities & Skills
Conceptual Entity Immortality
A Demon King becomes linked to the concept absorbed during evolution. This makes the entity immune to ordinary aging and death; even if the physical body is destroyed completely, it can eventually reform 71 73.
- A Demon King can recover from otherwise fatal destruction.
- The exact abilities depend on the absorbed concept, such as Dragon, Phoenix, or Vampire.
- Sealing is the most reliable known countermeasure.
- A seal lasting long enough may strip a Conceptual Entity of its intelligence, leaving only the underlying concept 73.
Demon King's Haki
Demon King's Haki is an exclusive ability that exerts pressure directly on the life essence of lower-ranked beings 72 74.
- Suppresses the energy or magic circulation of targets below the Demon King’s rank.
- Stabilizes the magic essence and increases the attack power of nearby allies.
- Can incapacitate or kill weaker beings merely through exposure.
- Milim's Haki overwhelmed Oden Kozuki and his retainers, flattened the Shogun's Palace, and left only Oden alive long enough to resist 74.
- Kushina was unaffected by Milim's Haki and instead felt her Chakra strengthen 86.
Concept Absorption
Demon King evolution requires the devouring and integration of a Devil Fruit's core concept 70 71.
- Milim absorbed the concepts of the Dragon Man and Azure Dragon Fruits 70 73.
- Charlotte Lingling absorbed the Phoenix concept 82 83.
- Red Earl absorbed the Vampire concept 119.
- The resulting race and skill set reflect the concept consumed.
Individual Demon King Skills
Demon Kings do not possess identical abilities. Their powers are shaped by their defining emotion and absorbed concept.
- King of Wrath: Milim's Ultimate Skill produces infinite magicule growth, infinite stamina, and infinite magicule endurance while using wrath as an energy source 1 71.
- Gluttony: Charlotte Lingling can store enormous quantities of food, digest natural elements to restore stamina, and gain up to 50% immunity to elements she has consumed 83.
- Phoenix abilities: Lingling's Phoenix race provides Immortal Flame, rapid recovery, an Iron Body, and Combat Endurance 83.
- Vampire concept: Red Earl gains resurrection-related power, but also suffers extreme isolation because he can hear the thoughts of those around him 119.
Destructive Power
Demon Kings operate on a scale far beyond ordinary pirates, Marines, or ninjas.
- Milim destroyed fifteen pirate ships with Dragon Star Diffusion Burst 7.
- She split the Red Earth Road and created a passage for ships, causing worldwide fear without receiving a bounty because the Five Elders did not want to provoke her 57.
- She later destroyed an island with a single punch 30.
- A full-scale Demon King battle could devastate the entire world, making direct conflict between Demon Kings self-destructive 116 172.
Relationships
- Milim Nava — First Demon King, Star Dragon King, and creator of the Demon King system. She serves as the standard against which later Demon Kings are measured 71 73.
- Charlotte Lingling — Milim's younger sister and the second Demon King. She becomes the Phoenix-race Witch of Gluttony 82 83.
- Rocks D. Xebec — The Greed Demon King. He seeks interaction and competition with other Demon Kings after ordinary ambitions lose their meaning 113 115.
- Patrick Redfield — The Pride Demon King. He becomes a Vampire Conceptual Entity after consuming the Bat Zoan Vampire Form 119.
- World Sound — The system that announces Demon King evolution, evaluates eligibility, assigns races and skills, and consolidates powers across connected worlds 71 83 161.
- Uchiha Madara — A Demon King-level combatant who reaches the rank through fusion with Indra rather than Devil Fruit evolution 161.

Milim's evolution transforms the balance of power. Many Countries takes control of most of the New World, pirates decline sharply, and the Marines and World Government withdraw from the region 71 73.
Expansion and Succession

Demon King Council
Milim creates a council to establish rules preventing the Demon Kings from destroying the world through uncontrolled conflict. Rocks agrees to attend after learning that Milim will be present 116.
