History

Many Countries began as Charlotte Lingling's dream of a country where different races could live together. Before it was founded, Milim accepted the ceremonial role of its Guardian Deity in exchange for a grand title and food offerings, while Lingling took responsibility for governing it. 5

Milim, Lingling, and El selected Spring Island as the site of their new nation. Captured pirates were proposed as labor, while refugees from pirate-raided kingdoms were considered as potential citizens. 6 8 Milim reclaimed the island's hard wasteland by running across and repeatedly turning over the ground for three days, making it suitable for cultivation. Many Countries was subsequently established with slightly more than a thousand people. 8

The country drew immigrants and grew into a multi-racial community of humans, giants, fish-men, and other peoples. Milim later persuaded her home village's giants to relocate to Many Countries, securing both additional residents and powerful defenders. 19 35

Many Countries' first war began when the War Without End Country and several other Grand Line nations declared war. Milim and Lingling personally answered the threat, and Milim annihilated the invading force before destroying the War Without End Country's island with Dragon Star Flame Tyrant. 25 27 The attack established the nation as a major force that the World Government and Marines treated with caution. 30 42

Following Milim's Demon King evolution, she announced that the New World belonged to Many Countries and ordered its countries to submit to its rule. 71 72 Wano Country was later conquered and placed under Ruka's administration, while Cake Island became Many Countries' regional base after Big Mom and Katakuri agreed to become allies. 75 177 During a later territorial division, Milim formally claimed the New World, Cake Island, and Wano Country. 190

Government and society

• Charlotte Lingling manages state affairs and military decisions; Milim is explicitly considered unsuitable for routine administration despite her status as Guardian Deity. 5 8
• Milim Nava serves as the nation's supreme deterrent and public symbol. Its emblem was designed from her portrait, and businesses she visits gain preferential support from residents. 16

Territory and settlements

Spring Island

Spring Island was Many Countries' original territory and founding site. Its wasteland was reclaimed for farming by Milim, while the early government identified housing, population growth, and sustainable food production as immediate priorities. 8

Academy City

Academy City was developed as an educational and research center. Its planned facilities include a library, training rooms, and laboratories for scientific personnel; Charlotte Lingling and El sought books and specialist knowledge to support its growth. 41 101

Wano Country

Milim conquered Wano Country, killed its previous rulers, and transferred day-to-day control to Ruka before returning to Many Countries. 75 It was later included among Milim's formal territorial claims. 190

Cake Island

Cake Island became Many Countries' base in its region after Big Mom and Katakuri accepted an alliance. In return for improved individual strength, they agreed to obey Many Countries' laws. 177

Military and defenses

• Milim Nava — The Guardian Deity serves as the country's foremost military power. Her destruction of the War Without End Country demonstrated that attacks on Many Countries could provoke overwhelming retaliation. 26 27
• Charlotte Lingling — The nation's ruler and a frontline combatant who joined Milim during its first war. 25
• Giants — Giants who joined Many Countries were assigned to defend it while Milim and Lingling fought abroad. 25

• Elbaf — The giant village from Milim's childhood relocated to Many Countries, while Elbaf later agreed to join the nation. 19 75
