Background / History

Razor Captain in Zi City

By the early Zi City arc, Guan Yutian commands a Razor rotation squad and has worked for the organization for nearly a year. Razor’s privileges carry severe obligations: fleeing a Specter can lead to immediate execution and punishment of the member’s family 7 26.

His squad suffers heavy losses against a Long-armed Ghoul. Guan Yutian holds the front line despite exhaustion and is reduced to nine Blood Volume before Zhang Qing finishes the creature. Afterward, he inserts his own saber into the corpse and accepts Zhang Qing’s claim that the captain killed it. Grace Yang treats the survivors, and Guan Yutian returns to full health by the following day 7 8 9 11.

Zhang Qing’s Early Advancement

Guan Yutian becomes more welcoming after Zhang Qing enters the Glimmering Realm. His treatment changes further when he notices Yu An’s interest in the young guard: he distributes Zhang Qing’s reward rather than risk giving a superior grounds to punish him 11 14.

At Yu An’s instruction, he attempts to purchase Zhang Qing’s indenture contract from the Chuan Family. When the family refuses, Yu An orders him to request Zhang Qing for his squad by name instead 16.

He subsequently leads operations against the Blood Flower Ghoul family and the Armored Ghoul, arranges healing and reward claims, and introduces the squad to exchanging Military Merit for spirit pills. Zhang Qing’s repeated breakthroughs eventually make him wonder whether his subordinate is a one-in-ten-thousand genius 17 18 20 25.

Family Conflicts and Escape

After the Chuan Family’s downfall, Guan Yutian’s squad receives a mission to eliminate its remnants. He later investigates the Tiger Clan merchant shop under Yu An’s orders, despite fearing the consequences of discovering contraband belonging to the Shui Family. The inspection reveals Blue Ghoul Blood and a Forbidden Item 38 43.

When the shop’s occupants are subsequently massacred, Guan Yutian proposes blaming fiends rather than becoming entangled in a family dispute. He, Zhang Qing, and Tie Du abandon the investigation and split Shui Qingquan’s payment 54.

During the fighting involving the Yu and Shui Families, he survives a Ghoul Tide by helping organize an underground shelter. He later slips away from the battle at the Shui Family estate. When Razor’s upper ranks prepare to purge the Emperor’s court, he plans to flee Zi City with Pusan and other companions 59 68 114 115.

Building the An City Rebellion

After leaving Zi City, Guan Yutian and Pusan shelter in a city protected by the Tyrant Army, only to be conscripted into hauling its supplies. Their reunion with Zhang Qing offers a way out: Zhang Qing strengthens them, supplies techniques and retainers, and commissions them to organize villages and refugees around An City 177 178 179.

Guan Yutian chooses a Ratfolk village as their first destination, understanding the importance of food to Ratfolk and Rabbitfolk. He orders an injured villager treated, then forces him to confront a Specter by invoking his child’s future—and threatening to slaughter the village if he refuses 184.

Their camp grows to more than fifty thousand people. Zhang Qing urges them to give recruits a purpose rooted in protecting their villages, families, and people, rather than relying only on material support 192.

The Zuo Family’s surrender of First Guard City initially exhilarates Guan Yutian. He soon realizes that accepting the city has placed two Candlelight Realm cultivators among far stronger powers and directly in the City Lord’s sights. He considers escaping to warn Zhang Qing, but Zhang Qing arrives and reassures him with a claim of fifth-rank Heavenly Demon backing 202.

Under Zhang Qing’s direction, Guan Yutian delays the uprising by taking nearby villages instead of immediately attacking An City. Within just over a month, his rebels absorb the surrounding guard cities, villages, wanderers, and slaves. The eventual plan targets the City Lord Mansion during the City Lord’s advancement ceremony 204 206 207.

Enforcing Zhang Qing’s Rule

In An City, Guan Yutian rebuilds Razor into a feared patrol force. Accusations of being a Specter can lead directly to beheading, and complainants discover Guan Yutian himself occupying the government office’s seat of honor. Zhang Qing eventually orders Razor to take leave so that Specters and incoming players can enter the city 252.

Guan Yutian cooperates with Li Liming’s formation of a new frontier army, welcoming an opportunity to weaken Yuan Hong’s military influence. His Sunrise Realm experts protect Li Liming’s soldiers while they purge An City and expand into the wilderness 266 271.

As Zhang Qing’s territory grows, Guan Yutian travels between cities by teleportation array to inspect them. Razor is later retained within Great Xia, where its voting practices cease against pure-blooded Great Xia people but remain a threat to other races 396 398.

Great Xia’s Evacuation and Personal Losses

Guan Yutian becomes an indispensable official within Great Xia rather than remaining an outsider from the Dark Realm. During the evacuation, Li Wannian sends him to retrieve Cheng Qiping; he uses Razor’s authority to bypass the migration queue, then assigns Bai Yuan’s Judgment Border Army to escort Cheng and maintain order among resettling migrants 518 519.

Zhang Qing’s disappearance leaves Guan Yutian withdrawn and distressed by fragmented memories. He eventually deduces the existence of the Dragon Venerable, reconnects those memories, and becomes certain that the Venerable will return 519.

He later carries the corpses of Pusan and Niu Qi, whose bodies have been preserved but whose True Spirits are gone 545.

Wisteria Divine Kingdom

With the Wisteria Divine Kingdom’s population exceeding three billion, Yun Xiaoxi establishes a new enforcement organization and has Guan Yutian transferred from Great Xia to Sea World. He quickly learns the work and establishes the Enforcement Razor Department 585.

Yun Xiaoxi acknowledges his grief over Pusan and Niu Qi and promises to have the Dragon Venerable bring them back after some time. Guan Yutian responds with renewed enthusiasm; their return is promised, not shown in the supplied account 585.

Appearance

• Stature: Barely one and a half meters tall, making him physically unimposing beside the Tiger Clan merchants 43.
• Uniform: Wears Razor’s uniform, whose authority allows him to confront people considerably stronger than himself 43.

Personality

Guan Yutian combines a strong survival instinct with a willingness to fight when necessary. He repeatedly looks for escape routes during overwhelming crises, but also personally leads attacks against Specters. His insistence that squad members stop rescuing casualties reflects his belief that a badly timed rescue can destroy the entire team 7 17 24 177 202.

Early on, he is opportunistic and socially calculating. He treats Zhang Qing as a potential human shield, appropriates credit for the Long-armed Ghoul’s death, and adjusts his behavior around influential patrons. His friendliness also serves practical goals: more allies mean better information, a safer position, and easier escape 7 9 14 300.

His loyalty to Zhang Qing becomes unusually firm. After years of flight, he considers Zhang Qing trustworthy without conditions; later, he follows his decisions without questioning them. Yet his sense of mission does not make him humane toward everyone: while trying to create a city free of Specter persecution, he shows no awareness of the innocents Razor kills through mistaken accusations 178 252 266.
