Territory and Settlements
Homeland and Early Dark Realm Strongholds
- Mega-City Era: Great Xia consolidated its population into super-large cities across its major economic regions, including the capital region, the Northeast, Jiangnan, the Central Plains, the Northwest, and Sichuan–Chongqing 179.
- Twelve giant cities: These became the homeland's principal defensive centers during Blue Star Fall 378.
- Initial Dark Realm foothold: An City, Mountain City, War City, and Qi City formed the core of Great Xia's early human strongholds. Sixth Floor teleportation arrays helped more than two hundred million players gather in these cities 341.
- Outer territories: Expansion beyond Blue Star placed cities with tens or hundreds of millions of inhabitants under Great Xia's administration. Its recognized Imperial City territory later became vast enough that officials could not exclude foreign influence everywhere 398 467.
- Postwar expansion: Other Imperial Cities ceded substantial territory after Zhang Qing became a Venerable Lord, but Great Xia lacked enough people to administer all of it 546.
Giant-City Political Networks
During the struggle over Great Xia's future power structure, the twelve giant-city wardens aligned with major guilds and their leading members 481.
| Giant City | Warden | Associated Guild / Base | Core Members |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zhuhai | Yuan Su | Star Ring / Gucheng | Zhu Yi, Yun Yue, Kong Siming 481 |
| Imperial Capital | Song Lian | Azure / Qi City | Zhao Huanhuan 481 |

Imperial Capital Landmark
- Sky-Piercing Pillar: A steel pillar more than one hundred meters in diameter rose in the capital during the Zodiac Pillars project. Its reliefs depicted landscapes, creatures, Great Xia mythology, and historical narratives, including Pangu, Hou Yi, Suiren, the Yan-Huang legacy, Qin, Han, and the Three Kingdoms 621.
Government and Administration
Post-Blue Star Fall Structure
Zhang Qing initially refused inclusion in Great Xia's formal political structure, allowing its existing institutions to continue governing. The subsequent reorganization nevertheless gave him an exceptional arbitration role 393 398.
| Institution / Office | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Era Council | Highest governing authority in the post-Blue Star Fall structure 398. |
| Zhang Qing's arbitration authority | Ultimate arbitration above the ordinary structure. Usually symbolic because he did not attend routine office work, but backed by the frontier army's allegiance 398. |
| Six departments | Technology, Finance, Civil Affairs, Infrastructure, Martial Affairs, and Military 398. |
| Department of Civil Affairs | Led by Li Wannian; incorporated education, commerce, and related civil responsibilities 398. |
| Razor | Agency established under Guan Yutian to combat corruption and prevent powerful individuals from monopolizing Sequence Users and other authority 398. |
| City Lords and outer-city administrations | Administered expansion territories, with government appointments, Razor personnel, and military forces intended to prevent hereditary rulers from becoming unchecked sovereigns 398. |
| Crisis Response Group | Coordinated major national preparations and continued to convene at Dongfeng Pavilion three thousand years later 243 664. |
Elder Council Dispute
The Imperial City model threatened to turn political participation into a privilege of powerful families and frontier-army commanders. Competition for ten additional Border Army positions became a struggle over future seats in the Elder Council, rather than merely access to resources 479.
Li Wannian's withdrawal and Civil Affairs' surrender of authority accelerated factional conflict. Several guilds opposed the Elder Council system because ordinary people had no voice, while Zhao Huanhuan's elevation as Sole Highness appeared to confirm that Great Xia was becoming a private Imperial City possession 483 484.
The factions later reunited under Li Wannian and Zhang Zhengguo when they inferred the existence of the forgotten Dragon Venerable. Much later, Great Xia abolished the Elder Council to mobilize National Destiny; public resistance eased after officials explained that Yun Xiaoxi had requested the change 504 505 639.
History
Preparing for the Dark Realm
Great Xia's giant-city construction program concealed a broader effort to prepare its population for the Dark Realm. Li Wannian expected more than three hundred million entrants, while military-backed classes, entertainment companies, weapons researchers, and state enterprises prepared for the transition 180 215.
Zhang Qing supplied physical-performance data for weapons development and extensive technological materials. Great Xia mastered controlled nuclear fusion, subsidized access to new Dark Realm headsets, and publicly announced the Southern Heavenly Gate Project 180 215 243 322.
Before launch, two million soldiers had trained to enter through gaming pods. Great Xia rejected a proposal to flee Blue Star Fall, expanded welfare and Nutrient Pod access, and recruited on a massive scale 254 322.
Deterrence and Domestic Control
Great Xia carried out a ten-day purge of people identified as traitors and later closed its borders after demonstrating its technological superiority 249 251.
When Dark Realm powers became public knowledge, foreign groups planned operations inside Great Xia. Xi Fang, Zhou Chen, and Luo Hang brought delegated Trampling authority into reality, while more than two million Blood Dragon Army members logged out. Their foreign deterrence operations were followed by a domestic crackdown that suppressed rogue martial artists and concealed Sequence Users 369 370.
Blue Star Fall and the Specter Tide
During Blue Star Fall, the twelve giant cities faced overwhelming Specter attacks. Soldiers, players, and civilians defended the walls; authorities also arranged for children and protectors to log in while the system remained functional, preserving a surviving population if the homeland fell 378 383.
A Support Sequence Four ability healed wounds and dispelled negative conditions across Great Xia. Zhang Qing's seizure of technological authority then enabled the Southern Heavenly Gate defenses, including White Emperor aircraft, wall-mounted cannons, directed-energy weapons, and concealed defensive ships. Flame dragons ultimately cleared the Specters from its borders 380 385 387.
Blue Star settled into the Dark Realm, but none of Great Xia's giant cities remained intact. Sichuan-Shu suffered especially severe damage, with collapsed walls allowing the Specter Tide to enter briefly. Reconstruction priorities included medical treatment, infrastructure repair, new defenses, identity verification against Specter infiltration, and commemoration of the dead 393.
Recognition and the Death Utopia Plan
Great Xia gained formal Imperial City recognition, but its rivals shifted from direct pressure to Death Utopia: an attempt to weaken its resolve through prosperity, technological assistance, comfort, and worship of Zhang Qing 462.
Sky City rapidly modernized the surrounding Dark Realm to match Great Xia's digital lifestyle. Great Xia's people received Imperial Clan privileges abroad, while propaganda credited Zhang Qing with the world's prosperity. Officials barred foreign offices from the Blue Star homeland, but agents continued infiltrating outer territories and courting their guardians 467 468.
Razor, the Dragon Scale Army, and other forces broke the manufactured peace through executions, city lockdowns, and renewed mobilization. The resulting struggle overlapped with domestic ambitions to replace Great Xia's civil institutions with an Imperial City family hierarchy 470 471 472 479.
The Forgotten Protector and Sky City War
After memories of Zhang Qing were erased, Great Xia discovered a contradiction: everyone recognized it as an Imperial City, yet its strongest known fighter was only Sequence Five. Its leaders restricted caravans and prohibited discussion of its internal structure while searching for the missing foundation of its power 500.
Investigations led to the inferred existence of Dragon Venerable and national reunification. Blank spaces were deliberately preserved in histories and textbooks, while a year of crisis-driven development brought Zhu Yi and Lin Tian to Sequence Six 501 504 505 510.
Sky City's mechanized advance eventually forced Great Xia to evacuate outer cities and soldiers' families. Border Armies protected the migration toward Blue Star and the Ring Galaxy River defenses. During the final assault, Great Xia still lacked a fully condensed Imperial City, and Li Wannian's decision to take up armor and a sword prompted officials and merchants to join the defense 515 523.
Great Xia's ten Border Armies retook the Alloy City Wall during the bunker fighting. Dragon Venerable subsequently emerged, declaring that he existed solely to protect Great Xia and securing its survival as a true Imperial City-level power 530 539.
Restoration and the New Era
After Zhang Qing's return and advancement to Venerable Lord, government departments resumed operation. He then pursued the restoration of Great Xia's dead, using the Flower Lord's Faith Power to retrieve True Spirits from the River of Time. Returnees emerged through the Spark Giant Gate, and Great Xia notified their families and friends 546 565 603.
When the Sequence system collapsed, Great Xia sheltered the Venerable Lords' bodies and defeated opportunistic territorial attacks through industrial warfare. It reorganized its military, condensed National Destiny, and swept surrounding factions with technological forces supported by Yun Xiaoxi's Gold Element Law 636 637 639 640.
Over the next three thousand years, its population expanded, long-lived Primal Life generations developed new paths, and sorcery became prominent within the law system. By Zhang Qing's next major meeting with its leadership, Great Xia possessed military superiority across the Myriad Worlds 661 664.
Economy and Technology
Energy, Food, and Trade
- Controlled nuclear fusion: Provided effectively unlimited energy and supported aerospace development and food production 243 293.
- Energy agriculture: Included synthesizing starch from atmospheric carbon dioxide, alongside greatly expanded aquaculture and animal husbandry. Great Xia no longer lacked food 293.
- Dark Realm trade: Caravans exchanged warehouse grain through Rat Emperor City networks for Spirit Medicine and ore. Authorities purchased the imports for pill refinement and weapons production 341.
- Authority-independent produce: Grain Sequence users supported exports of fruit and vegetables without external Authority control; tea and silk also formed part of Great Xia's trade outreach 397.
- Contingency planning: State enterprises prepared planned-economy measures before the population's mass entry into the Dark Realm 215.
Research Institutions
- Weapons laboratories: Used Zhang Qing's test data to improve the balance between armor penetration and lethality in new weapons 180 215.
- Star Formation Research Institute: Studied basic star patterns transmitted through Yun Xiaoxi 565.
- Great Xia Research Institute: Integrated Fan Adkin's Pale Sequence into increasingly productive research 609.
- Dragon Venerable Knowledge Treasury: Organized research and cultivation knowledge for citizens to browse using Spark Marks and DNA verification 609.
- Authority-assisted manufacturing: Scientific research Authorities accelerated weapons design and industrial development during renewed mobilization 634.
Military and Supernatural Defenses
Armed Forces
- National military: Grew from two million trained Dark Realm entrants before launch to more than twenty million military personnel before Blue Star Fall 254 364.
- Blood Dragon Army: A major military force whose members could return to reality for national defense and domestic suppression 369 370.
- Dragon Scale Army: Worked with leading guilds to secure internal unity and counter unrest 424.
- Border Armies: Expanded through major guild networks and native Humanfolk recruitment; a frontier army numbered in the tens of millions 479 480.
- Southern Heavenly Gate defenses: Included White Emperors, defensive artillery, directed-energy weapons, and near-ground defensive firepower ships 385.
- Post-Sequence arsenal: Combined missiles, tanks, drones, warships, kinetic weapons, White Emperors, Black Birds, Luan Birds, and planet-destroying cannons 640.
Resurrection and Protective Authorities
- Spark Perpetual Arrays: Recorded consciousness through Zhang Qing and used Flesh and Spark Authorities to revive the dead within the homeland 462.
- Loss of resurrection: The disappearance of Spark Marks and the Spark Giant Gate left most Great Xia people with only one life during the forgotten-protector crisis 501.
- Dragon Venerable's fallback: Allowed Great Xia to suppress Intelligent Machinery, providing a basis for retreating into the homeland during Sky City's advance 515.
- Restoration through faith: Zhang Qing later brought back fallen people through the Flower Lord's Faith Power, insisting that battlefield deaths be treated fairly rather than reserving restoration for elites 603.
- National Destiny: Used the nation as a foundation for gathering Fortune. Military expansion strengthened it, and a national memorial ceremony drew upon it to commemorate the missing Venerables and Progenitors 639 640.
Society and Education
Great Xia's cohesion distinguished it from civilizations held together primarily by supreme force. Although it respected strength, its institutions also rested on humanistic beliefs and a commitment to preserving civilization rather than reducing ordinary people to the dependents of ruling families 445 479.
- Welfare: Expanded support and Nutrient Pod access encouraged Dark Realm participation; later policies also encouraged childbirth 322 398.
- Schooling: Added martial arts classes and academic or martial training paths. Field trips received protection from Meteor Realm martial artists or Sequence Two experts 398 469.
- Nirvana Fire: Tempered True Spirits, removed impurities, and reshaped bodies for compatibility with the Dark Realm's martial system, overcoming earlier limits on local talent 424.
- Martial Arts World: Offered training through the Martial Arts Tower and Martial Arts Hall. Sharing secret arts required their creators' approval, while Great Xia sold Time Cards to visiting Dao Traditions 583.
- Resurrection discipline: Later restrictions countered death-seeking livestreams and entertainment-driven recklessness; True Spirits could be required to wait before returning 582.
- Long-term development: The Knowledge Treasury helped successive generations find their own paths, including sorcery and the condensation of divine sparks 661.
