"Those damn rats are here."
When Chun found Cheng Shi, the former Chosen of Prosperity said through gritted teeth, "He probably noticed how interested you are in this trial, so he brought a plague to Order's camp."
A plague?
Cheng Shi raised an eyebrow. He suddenly realized that, with the faded authority of Decay in his hands, he had nearly stopped paying attention to the threats posed by Decay. But those threats remained troublesome for everyone else.
Lin Xi's primary class was the Mage of Decay, the Plague Cardinal—a class known in Faith Game as the king of AOE.
The fact that he had chosen this moment to attack the left-wing camp meant that he really was targeting Cheng Shi. Annihilation truly had no intention of letting him off.
Lin Xi's purpose was no different from kidnapping Kainlaur. He merely wanted to interfere with the trial's normal progress, forcing Cheng Shi to "deal with" the source of the interference first so that he could improve his odds in their confrontation through his early preparations.
The Plague Cardinal spread plagues extremely quickly. Once the plague was allowed to spread unchecked, even if the Grand Inquisition took countermeasures, the result would only be countless knights rotting where they stood or withdrawing from the encirclement.
But if a gap appeared in the encirclement's front line, no one could say where history would develop from there.
What Cheng Shi cared about was not the direction history took, but whether the few deities he was watching would still react the same way they had in history once that direction changed.
Everything he had experienced since the trial began told Cheng Shi that this trial, which should have been viewed from a bystander's perspective, might actually be a projection of the truth behind that religious conflict
