The Living Forest
The pattern of Black Pine Town is different from other places.
An ordinary town is connected in all directions, with a road running through the town, and buildings built along the road, row after row.
Black Pine Town is more like a fortress than a city.
Surrounding the town are high barriers with sharp wooden spikes. Under the thick wooden boards, Rangerss wearing leather armor are stationed at the gate. On the high tower, they look like they are on the verge of war.
This is a small town located on the border of Black Forest. It can be regarded as the deepest place where ordinary humans live in Black Forest.
Lu Ban You can see the older men working. They cut down Black Forest trees to make wood and transport them out. Some of them are drying animal skins, dried meat, and various herbs. This place looks more like a temporary stronghold than a living town.
"There are not people here all year round. People will only stay here when it is relatively safe. In two days, they will leave and return to Black Forest."
Birmingham explained.
"Why don't they live outside Black Forest? It should be safer that way, right?"
Lu Ban couldn't help but ask.
"This used to be outside Black Forest"
Birmingham's voice became deeper.
"Black Forest is alive. Every Demon Tide is an expansion of Black Forest. The place swept by Demon Tide will breed trees and eventually become part of Black Forest. This is why we have to resist Demon Tide."
"In other words, this town was originally a small town outside Black Forest. Later, due to the arrival of Demon Tide, it was gradually swallowed up by the forest?"
Lu Ban has some understanding.
It seems that this is the real way of pollution by Night Country.
When Blood Moon arrives, Demon Tide will kill humans and pollute the land. Black Forest takes the opportunity to expand, just like Mycelial Mat covers the earth. Perhaps this foreign land was originally a normal planet, Black Forest is only a small part, but as Demon Tide invades again and again, Black Forest eventually covers most of the land. When Black Forest completely occupies the last inch of pure land, Night Country will also fall into eternal night.
He looked back at the deep forest. Maybe it was once a farmland, a school, and a home.
But now, it's all bad land.
This is also the reason why Night Country needs to resist Demon Tide. It is indeed a way to avoid Demon Tide and let the residents retreat outside the influence of Demon Tide, but this will inevitably lead to the fall of the land and ultimately no retreat.
"If you seek peace through struggle, you will survive in peace; if you seek peace through compromise, you will perish in peace."
Lu Ban sighed.
"Well said!"
When Birmingham heard Lu Ban's words, his eyes widened, and he felt a sense of relief that he was indeed my little brother.
"If everyone could have your awareness, there would be no need to worry that Demon Tide would destroy us, because after one me falls, there are still thousands of me."
"Is there anyone still unwilling to resist Demon Tide?"
Lu Ban heard the meaning of Birmingham's words.
"Many people don't have an intuitive understanding of Black Forest. They think it's just a monster. They are in a safe inland and have lost their sense of crisis."
Although he is young, Birmingham looks concerned about the country and the people, and is very ambitious.
And like the Drywater Town that Lu Ban visited before, the people from the Hai family and the townspeople there are ignorant, ignorant, and numb. Now it seems that they are in a safe environment, but they allow cults to breed.
Due to internal and external troubles, Night Country is in danger.
Lu Ban saw that the commander and a mage were communicating with the person in charge of Black Pine Town.
"You must leave here immediately and go to Black Castle. The red moon will rise soon. Demon Tide is coming. It will become colder here and there will be more monsters. With your weapons, there is no way to defend it."
The commander said to the person in charge of Black Pine Town in a commanding tone.
"We will evacuate tonight, and we still have the last batch of materials to be loaded onto the truck. These Rangers will also go to Black Castle with us."
The steward pointed to the herbs and animal skins that had not yet been put away, as well as the untreated wood.
"This time Demon Tide is Eternal Darkness. The magic infection will arrive at the front line tonight, without delay."
A mage looked at the sky exposed among the trees and said solemnly.
"Eternal Darkness? Isn't Demon Tide Hanshuang?"
Lu Ban asked subconsciously.
Hearing Lu Ban's words, the mage looked over strangely.
"Who told you?"
The mages, commanders, and managers of Black Pine Town all stared at Lu Ban.
Birmingham was speechless, but after being stunned for a moment, he still stood in front of Lu Ban.
"He might just be confused."
"Get out of the way."
The mage said something, which made Birmingham completely unable to move or even say a word.
The mage looked at Lu Ban. The man had dark blue eyes and seemed to be about the same age as Lu Ban.
"According to the observation of Observation Hub, this time Demon Tide is Eternal Darkness, the sixth of the twelve Demon Tide. When Eternal Darkness comes, the whole world will fall into lightless darkness. If you stay in the darkness for more than a period of time, you will be swallowed by monsters."
The mage's words made others look in fear. Sometimes Demon Tide happens once a year, sometimes several times a year. In recent years, it happens at least three times a year. Veterans among Rangers have experienced many Demon Tides, so naturally they know the horror of each Demon Tide very well.
"What about Frost?"
Lu Ban is not afraid. He has never seen it anyway, so he should just listen to popular science.
"Frost is the third Demon Tide, and the master is the winter wolf. The howl of the alpha wolf announces the arrival of Demon Tide. In the frost, the temperature will drop below the freezing point. The low temperature alone will kill most creatures, and the breath of the winter wolf can destroy most barriers."
The mage explained vividly, causing many people to stop what they were doing and come over to listen.
"According to the observations of Observation Hub, there is now a large-scale long night phenomenon west of Black Castle. This is a sign that Eternal Darkness is coming. As for the frost, the current temperature is far from the severe winter when the frost is coming."
He took out the map and could see that most of the map was Black Forest, one of which was circled, and the locations of Black Fortress and Black Pine Town could also be seen.
This is already considered the depth of Black Forest, and only the shadow of the city can be seen on the edge of the map.
Just looking at the intricate forest makes people feel suffocated. This is a world where humans are far weaker than monsters.
"The monster we hunted before"
Lu Ban thought of the gray wolf with six legs and four eyes.
"These monsters Black Forest are everywhere, probably because the long night covered Black Forest, so they escaped from their original places of residence."
The mage explained.
"That's it."
Lu Ban nodded.
Although he still felt that the voice he heard in [Madman's Knowledge] was not false, maybe the frost was hidden in the dark night.
On the other side, the mage looked at Lu Ban leaving and gave the commander a look.
"I'm going to ask Gray Tower for the observation data of the past year. Maybe this time Demon Tide is really unprecedented."
