345. Wanting to Touch
On the island.
The pirates, whose ship had been stolen, were gripped by fear.
That man could not only control terrifying beasts, but he could also make the ship move on its own.
Has he mastered extraordinary powers?
These pirates were powerless to resist and had no choice but to find another way.
The big ship is gone, but there are still small boats and trees on the island, so it can be rebuilt.
After a long, dazed day, the remaining people gradually found their purpose.
They got busy.
Then, a figure arrived in front of the village.
The person was wrapped in numerous bandages, and only one red eye, gleaming faintly, could be seen.
The pirates shuddered instinctively when they saw this man.
If Lu Ban was a terrifying person before, then this guy can only be described as a terrifying monster.
"I can smell her scent. Have you seen a woman before, dressed in red and white, about this tall?"
"Thunder from another land asked."
"They stole our ship!"
One of the pirates immediately shouted.
"Them? Who else?"
The Thunder realized the problem.
"There was another man with a monster, a monster that looked like a dog, only much more terrifying!!"
Another pirate immediately spoke up.
Judging from the Bandaged Man's words and actions, he seems to have a grudge against the people who stole the pirates' ships before. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and they want to get on good terms with this guy.
"Looks like Chosen of the Gods. A dog-like monster, I don't know what kind of creature it is, maybe that's what sank our ship."
The Thunder always need to prepare and plan before doing anything. After his teammate Flash recklessly gave away a kill, he realized the importance of being steady even more.
If he hadn't been prepared, he probably would have been swallowed up by the dark shadow in the sea, just like the other sailors.
"We can help! He stole our ship, and we want revenge!"
A pirate shouted.
Can you help?
Thunder laughed.
"Thank you so much."
As soon as he finished speaking, the bandages on his body came off, revealing a body that was almost black like a thick fog underneath.
The fog continued to spread, quickly enveloping a pirate.
Before the pirate could even cry for help, his entire body quickly withered and shriveled, resembling a dried-up corpse that had been sitting for many years.
As the fog spread and screams echoed, not long after, not a single pirate remained on the island.
Thunder returned to normal, the bandages still wrapped around his body, but now he was much stronger than before, as if he had been given a lot of nutrition.
"They're moving very fast; we need to find a way to catch up."
They found a small boat used for traveling in shallow water, Thunder got on. Some of the bandages were untied, and the Gray Fog turned into oars, causing the boat to start moving at high speed.
As he walked forward, Thunder pulled a coin out of his bandages.
He tossed the coin into the air and checked whether it landed heads or tails in his hand.
"You're lucky."
He chuckled.
"According to the nautical chart, Changfeng Island should be ahead, which means we are approaching Qiushan Island."
Under the moonlight, Lu Ban looked at the sea chart and used a pen to estimate the distance he had traveled, feeling happy.
But Amber, standing to the side, looked rather worried.
These past few days, she has often looked at the sea like this, lost in a kind of melancholy that makes others feel sad.
"Shouldn't you be happy? You'll be seeing other people soon, and at least you can take a good shower at the port and get a good night's sleep in a solid bed."
Lu Ban prompted.
For girls, not being able to take a bath is really unbearable, and seawater bathing makes the body sticky and even dirtier, so Amber has only taken a bath with fresh water once these days.
As for Lu Ban, he has grass to clean up, so it's not a big problem.
"Yes."
Amber nodded, but her eyes flickered.
"Do you think I really have to become the Head Miko?"
She asked a question that sounded more like she was talking to herself than to Lu Ban.
"These days have been tough, but I feel relaxed and carefree. Compared to the time I spent in meditation, this kind of life is much better."
It's like a top student who has always studied hard and whose parents tell her not to think about anything other than exams and studies, suddenly getting a long vacation where she doesn't have to study and can just play, eat, and sleep. For Amber, life at sea is completely different from before; it's more about freedom.
"I've been thinking about this for the past few days. Could we not go to Harmony Island? Could we go somewhere else, anywhere? Let's find a small island, build two houses, fish, raise some animals, and live out our lives like that."
She said this, then suddenly realized what she had said and quickly corrected herself.
That's not what I meant. I didn't want to spend my life with you.
"I know."
"No, but it's not impossible either."
"Um."
"Sigh, anyway, I don't want to be a shrine maiden anymore."
Amber gave up trying to explain.
Lu Ban understood Amber's feelings very well.
Simply put, it means I want to touch it.
This has nothing to do with Lu Ban; it's just that she, who has been tense all along, now has an excuse to relax, to catch her breath, and to stop trying.
For the past decade or so, Amber has been instilled with the ideal of becoming Head Miko and saving the world. It's hard to say whether these ideals are what she truly wants, but Amber simply had no choice.
Now that she has a choice, and having experienced the world of freedom, Amber feels that the responsibility of saving the world is far too heavy.
Indeed, how can you possibly convince a teenage girl that she is the hope of the world, that the world cannot do without her, and that she must give up her future freedom to sit in the Wa Island Grand Shrine and practice archery every day?
Qin Tiantian, who is about the same size as Amber, plays games and slacks off every day, living a happy and carefree life. Why does Amber need to be bound in a cage?
Lu Ban couldn't figure it out either.
However, his mission is to escort Amber to become the Head Miko, so if Amber backs down at the last minute, the mission will not be completed.
"How about this, we'll go to Changfeng Island first, without revealing your identity. We'll stay for a couple of days, experience the life of ordinary people, and then make a decision, okay?"
Lu Ban decided to go ashore first.
"Um."
Amber nodded, her hesitation evident.
Although Lu Ban could tell her that with great power comes great responsibility, this was ultimately just an idea imposed on her by others.
Watching Amber leave, Lu Ban let out a sigh of relief.
I never imagined I'd be helping teenage girls design their future lives and do career planning.
Looking at the beautiful moonlight, Lu Ban suddenly had a thought.
He looked at the task.
[Mission Requirements: Escort the shrine maiden to Wa Island Grand Shrine]
[Mission Requirement: Witness the birth of a new Head Miko]
It seems there's no specific requirement that it must be Amber?
