Lu Ban couldn't help glancing at Trist beside him.
The policeman was staring out the window, apparently lost in thought.
The bloodstains on him had long since dried, and he looked exhausted and dejected.
Lu Ban remembered the figure he'd just seen in a room on the second floor of the hotel. There was no doubt about it—that had been Trist.
Yet the other party had merely stared toward him without making a move.
If that had been Trist, then who was the person beside him now?
Lu Ban remembered that when Trist described his experiences, many parts had been extremely vague and difficult to believe.
For example, whose blood was on Trist? His gun and bullets had vanished without a trace. And after Trist was attacked, why had he merely lain on the ground without suffering any further treatment?
In other words, Lu Ban had begun to suspect that the Trist beside him might be fake.
To Lu Ban, this was a relatively false world. Everything might simply be his hallucination—or a dream created by the Man of Darkness.
So a fake Trist appearing wasn't entirely impossible.
The question was, what was the other party's purpose?
If all it wanted was to hurt Lu Ban, the fake Trist could have acted long ago. There would have been no need to put on such an elaborate performance.
