Background / History
Five Elements Mountain was one of the Western Pure Land's three Imperial Dao Weapons and originally belonged to the Great Thunder Sound Temple. It contains the Law Power of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, and was used to suppress a Demon Emperor beneath it. The final Tathagata altered its succession rules before dying, allowing outsiders—not only temple disciples—to undergo its trials. 221 236
During the Alien Organization's occupation of the Western Pure Land, a Blood Sacrifice Array used Alien and Fierce Beast corpses to widen a spatial rift above the mountain. Blood River wastewater poured onto the mountain, contaminating and weakening its Law Power; the weakened seal allowed the World-Destroying Demonic Ape to break free. 221 222 224
After the ape's battle with Long Yuantian, the mountain was thrown into the Pacific Ocean. It hovered above the sea without causing a tsunami and slowly purified the remaining wastewater, while nations searched for someone capable of earning its recognition. 227
Qin Fen passed the Five Passes Trial and defeated the same-realm Tathagata projection in the ultimate trial, qualifying to control the mountain once he reached the Domain Heaven Realm. He later imprinted his Nascent Soul into its Law Origin through his Annihilation Thunder Dragon avatar, achieving preliminary refinement. 236 239 246
The artifact spirit then used the mountain to annihilate the World-Destroying Demonic Ape in the depths of Earth's World Origin. Its power was heavily depleted afterward, forcing it into hibernation before its eventual self-destruction and reincarnation. 247 248 261
Appearance
Five Elements Mountain manifests as a colossal, multicolored mountain radiating five-element Law Power. It has appeared at heights ranging from tens of thousands to one hundred thousand meters. 222 231
- Emits a multicolored radiance representing metal, wood, water, fire, and earth Laws. 221 246
- Exerts overwhelming pressure on the spirit, physical body, and True Qi of those nearby. 222
- Can shrink to rest in the palm of its controller after preliminary refinement. 246
- Its artifact spirit appeared as a barefoot young monk in a kasaya, with a serene Buddhist bearing. 236
Abilities & Functions
Five Elements Law Power
The mountain's core is an orb of Law Origin containing the Laws of gold, wood, water, fire, and earth. At full revival, its power exceeds that of a first-level Law Heaven Realm Martial Emperor. 246
- Its Law Power is capable of resisting Blood River pollution, though prolonged exposure weakens it. 221 222
- Its natural pressure affects an opponent's spirit, body, and True Qi simultaneously. 222
- It can assist cultivators in comprehending the mountain and earth-related path toward an alternative form of emperorship. 259
- It lacks the realm and awareness of a true Emperor despite possessing Emperor-level combat power. 246
Successor Trials
Five Elements Mountain conducts a multi-stage selection process established by past Tathagatas. Completing all five standard trials grants access to the ultimate trial and the chance to control the weapon. 231 236
| Trial | Test | Requirement / Result |
|---|---|---|
| Illusion God Bridge | Martial heart | Resist personal illusions and preserve one's true heart. 231 232 |
| Aptitude test | Roots and talent | Assesses whether the candidate possesses sufficient cultivation aptitude. 231 234 |
| Comprehension test | Martial understanding | Cultivate an assigned martial art within the time limit. 231 234 |
| Physical-body trial | Physical strength | Climb gravity-enhanced steps with True Qi and Nascent Soul power sealed; reaching the seventh tier passes. 231 |
| Combat trial | Combat power | Defeat an energy body identical to oneself in realm, physical strength, and martial arts. 231 235 |
| Ultimate trial | Qualification to control the mountain | Defeat a same-realm Tathagata projection; the first successful candidate to reach Domain Heaven Realm may refine the mountain. 236 237 |
Tathagata Divine Palm
When wielded by its artifact spirit, Five Elements Mountain can manifest Buddhist light and unleash the Tathagata Divine Palm. During the battle in the World Origin, it transformed into a Tathagata-like hand and used the palm art against the World-Destroying Demonic Ape. 247
- Its attack annihilated the World-Destroying Demonic Ape's body and soul. 248
- The exertion severely depleted the artifact spirit's power. 248
Purification and Suppression
The mountain actively purified Blood River wastewater after falling into the Pacific Ocean. It also served as a seal over the Demon Emperor beneath it before that seal was weakened by contamination. 221 227
- Can be deployed as an immense physical barrier; it blocked the Myriad Forge at the entrance to a World Origin passage. 256
- Its suppression depends on available power: pollution and external attacks can weaken it, while sustained use rapidly drains its controller. 222 256
Limitations
- An Imperial Dao Weapon cannot be forcibly seized below the Emperor realm; recognition from its artifact spirit is required. 227
- Qin Fen's initial refinement granted only one-tenth control, while the artifact spirit retained the remaining nine-tenths. 246
- At that stage, the Annihilation Thunder Dragon avatar could use only about one-tenth of the mountain's total power for roughly one minute at most. 246 248
- If the artifact spirit opposed its controller before reincarnating, it could deny control of the weapon. 246
- Following the artifact spirit's reincarnation, the mountain can no longer rely on the spirit's independent power. 261

Trivia
- The mountain's trials were originally restricted to Great Thunder Sound Temple disciples, but the last Tathagata opened them to all candidates. 236
- Reaching the summit in the physical-body trial grants a reward; Qin Fen received the fifth and sixth levels of the Nine Heavens Nascent Soul Fundamental Method. 235
- Its artifact spirit wished to reincarnate because, despite possessing Emperor-level combat power, it did not consider itself a true living being capable of human emotions and desires. 239
