In the Central Control Room, Locke's eyes lit up with delight. The next moment, a crack suddenly appeared in the center of the Amethyst Matrix, followed by an explosion that blew apart the entire matrix.
The crystal ball shattered into fragments that flew in every direction.
Like razor-sharp blades, those fragments embedded themselves in the floor, walls, and laboratory equipment.
Yet when the fragments came within three inches of Locke, they were all reduced to crystal dust by the pale green natural energy shield, unable to reach him at all.
This was the greatest advantage of a First-Ring Wizard: the Permanent Defense Field surrounding their body automatically protected them.
An Apprentice-Level Wizard fighting a First-Ring Wizard was like an unarmored man standing before a cannon's muzzle. It was basically impossible to break through a First-Ring Wizard's permanent defensive magic head-on.
"I nearly forgot that the Amethyst Matrix has a limit to the Magic Pressure it can withstand. I actually crushed it." Locke said, "Mana above one thousand puts one at the level of an ordinary Formal Wizard. Above three thousand, one becomes a Vaporization Wizard."
Locke extended his right hand. A ring of vaporized Mental Power swirled around his palm, blanketing it like white mist.
Mental Power should have been invisible. Even Magic Pressure was merely the outward radiation of Mental Power, the pressure produced by that radiation.
The four stages of a First-Ring Wizard—ordinary, Vaporization, Liquefaction, and Crystallization—were a process through which a wizard's Mental Power became materialized.
After Crystallization, truly mature, materialized Mental Power would be born.
However, Locke had only been a Wizard Apprentice before, so he did not know much about the materialization of Mental Power.
He would have to return to the Academy and enter the First-Ring Wizard area to learn more.
"Because I became
